+xAny update on Arzani? Any reason why he is not playing? He is training with team but not making squads. Not good enough for 2nd division Belgium side. Lommel signed quite a few wingers and attacking midfielders since he joined but that’s still no excuse.

Bit harsh on Joel King, I though he looked classy on the ball at times, but needs time to adjust to speed. How many aussies have played their second game for the socceroos in such a crucial game against one the best sides in the region? Possibly Brad Smith might have been a better option in hindsight.

re young king, there's a bit of dislike by some to me due to the SFC/GA links....... I agree with you jas88, for just his 2nd NT game of such importance didn't think he did that much wrong. Sure there would some error under pressure BUT that flank was ripped with Behich there 1st game. Got give King some cred tbh batism of fire.

He's registered here as Greek but he's a Melbourne Victory academy graduate. How does a move like this happen? Agent touting? Basel scouting? Next 4 years are very important to see if he'll become a Sainsbury or an Ashcroft.

https://neoskosmos.com/en/2022/03/17/sport/football/steven-havales-leaves-victory-camp-for-fc-basel/Not much to do with the MV Academy who he joined as a 15 year old product of a state league club AND private coaching paid for by his parents. It was his private coach's contacts overseas that got him the trial overseas (very very common) and his skill that earned the transfer ..... not wasting away at the Victory U21s....

seems like we got a lot of coaches with connections overseas that are getting paid big bucks from Parents. Can we just recruit them into the socceroos setup and they can advise young players, get moves, etc. Same role they are doing now but payed by FFA. Let them pick and choose the players for COE and get them moves overseas.

Let them pick and choose the players for COE and get them moves overseas. Some of these private academy coaches have very good connections and send heaps of young trialists overseas ... the numbers dont quite add up though for the FA, they would have to spend a fortune to compensate some of them for the money they would miss out on. Plus not much there as a return for the foreign "custodians" of our game here... If the FA truely wanted to improve our outcomes a COE in each state/federation, working with grassroots, NPL, Aleague AND private academies to funnel players into which in turn would "create" players for a 2 or 3 tiered national football competition would have a far better outcome..... But we are still trying to find a "disruptor" TD that can sell coaching courses to mums and dads at grass roots and try to find new and creative ways to fleece the playing base......

I thought I saw yesterday on Volpatos Instagram that both players were starting against Norway. Maybe they are just rotating the squad?

They’re in the U20s. Both had good games vs Norway yesterday. Volpato was constantly dangerous and Circati really defensively solid.

It’s good to see two young Aussies getting playing time for Italy. Hopefully they both end up picking Australia in the end cause we need them.

Would Arnie pick either of them after his recent comments? Suggests that he is doomed as coach as someone else would possibly get them on side for June. And realisticly, one or both must be selected for the playoffs.

Don’t think it’s been mentioned but Mauk scored a late winner on the weekend.

Goal for Ouzounidis
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Much better option Smith. Imagine playing in a do or die qualifier against Japan and playing 3 rookies (Metcalfe, Steness, King) when Smith, Luongo, Holland, Jeggo were all available.

Iredale scores but it's incorrectly ruled offside. Good finish.

+xIredale scores but it's incorrectly ruled offside. Good finish. Been saying, he's a finisher. With Rene as assistant to Ange and being responsible for developing Rashford at United we must get him to work with Archie Goodwin.

Goal Iredale. He's remarkably efficient. Injured then scores twice against Belgian first team in only winter practice game the gets Covid and puts it in the net twice upon return in a single half. Also scored very early in his first rare league start last September.
