Yengi named.

He was the 23rd player announced today.

He really should of been one of the first picked.

Our U20 drawn with Iraq, Kuwait and India for the U20 2023 Asian Cup qualifiers. All games will be played in Basra, Iraq. Group winners and 5 best runners up will make tournament in Uzbekistan. Games to played in September. Wish we'd offered to host.

So players born after Jan 1 2003 are eligible.

We seem to have way more attackers who have played some first team football rather than defenders.

Some players I think we’ll see are

G Kuol
A Goodwin
M Toure
Bernardo
Irankunda
Borges Rodrigues
Segecic
Yull
Alagich
C Hollman
Lopane
Forde
Rawlins
S Hall
Nieuwenhuizen
Warshawsky

Looking at the seeding, that U20 Qualifying group is about as difficult as we could have received. We match up with one of the highest-ranked opponents from each pot.

Have to admit I'm getting tired of seeing our named next to Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan and Oman. Wouldn't mind some Turkmenistan, Singapore or North Mariana Islands.

Wonder if China will take part, they’ll probably still have Covid zero policy in October.
North Marianas often pull out of youth tournaments last minute.
Anyway, I’m up for a road trip to Shepparton for this.

Iraq is an interesting choice of host. Still classified by Oz govt as do not travel and exit immediately. I wonder if any other AFC teams will be worried about security there.

Tristan Hammond is another Olyroos who still qualifies age wise.
Toure, kuol, Goodwin and Hammond Is a very exciting forward line.

Garang Kuol will run rings around players at u20 level, I can see him upgraded into the u23 side given he's high ceiling.

Refreshing location too. My home town. When was the last time an international football event took place in a regional centre?

Definitely, although it’s not our best squad we could have the players should still be competing for a medal.

So with Folami and Metcalfe left out of Socceroos squad surely there should be some way to include them in Olyroos squad - both qualify by age.
With Covid these days surely it’s not hard to engineer the sudden need for some injury replacements

It will be between Courtney Perkins and Bility to pair with JRB at CB. I would also think that Brook would get a look in before Hammond.

Reckon Yengi will start too.

Thos will surprise a lot of casual A-League viewers but Yengi is a lot further ahead in his development than Kuol is.
