Mixed fortune but essentially one hand tied behind back. That last chance was way off. Whatever. Farrell needed to mar up better there. Good late play by Francois I found.

A red card which wasn't a red card and a penalty not given and we didn't lose. They did very well down to ten men.

Only Trewin and Hammond haven't played yet. The conditions and now two suspensions are spreading the minutes out. Wouldn't mind Kuwait denting Jordan in next game. We've entered a tight equation now.

Most likey Jordan will easily beat Kuwait which bring them to 4 points, equal first in the group.
Then if we beat Jordan it is all good.
Draw with Jordan and perhaps 3 teams top with 5 points
Lose to Jordan and probably finish 3rd after Iraq beats Kuwait

The commentator describes the standing leg is swept but I don't know if it is. There is contact but Peupion was already going off balance.

He gets the ball and as he goes to plant his foot to go after it (really trying to get the ball not play for foul) his foot is taken out. Clear pen as you can see the foot changing direction with the contact.

No yellows for repeated professional fouls by Iraq.

Quite conclusive - ref is a cockhead and clearly influenced in some way against us.

It was a red, it was a poor touch and poor technique to win the ball back, endangering the opposition player. and debatable whether it was a penalty, very minimal contact.

Great performance to come away with something at least. against all the odds.

Considering we were given a harsh but soft red card (similar to the Lewis Miller one in the a-league against WSW) and not being given a clear pen with Peupion's left leg being taken out that was a decent performance all things considered.
I think if the match was 11v11 I think we could win but we wouldn't know right?

It probably makes the Jordan game a must not lose or at worst a must win depending on how the group standings will look like, but overall Australia has some decent talent that would give the current Socceroos a run for their money.

From outside view and following the youth teams in the last decade, these guys look technically more advanced compared to watch the youth teams in the past where we would struggle and rely alot on our fitness but even with 10 men we were able to keep the ball quite well and make good football actions especially the wonderful Kuol goal.

Although not everything is perfect with it, but with all the hysteria about the NC it has made a positive contribution in player development in this country given what we are seeing now with the young players coming through.

Can guarantee our opponent would never see a red for what Yengi did. It was purely accidental. Remember the slowing of the video makes it look worse. He's just slipped and gone into his man. No foul play. Purely accidental.

Watched the second half. Courtney-Perkins impressed with some classy touches. Given comments from first half, he needs to find consistency.

Pleased that the u23 were able to hold onto the draw, but thought they were hard done by, and should have been awarded a penalty.

Miller looked good when he came on.

Work still to do, for the squad.

Morgan is doing a good job. The players are still getting their education so things like backtracking and communicating need to be improved. I found the forward transition generally good and most can get around a man. A man down after 16. I kept thinking we looked thin up top and had to remind myself of the circumstances not to mention it was 32 degrees out there.

These AFC refs are so shit that they probably would though. AFC tournaments do my head in.

Shouldn't matter if the contact is accidental though, you're still endangering the other person.

They called it for violent conduct.

From IFAB Law 12:
"VIOLENT CONDUCT
Violent conduct is when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball, or against a team-mate, team official, match official, spectator or any other person, regardless of whether contact is made.
In addition, a player who, when not challenging for the ball, deliberately strikes an opponent or any other person on the head or face with the hand or arm, is guilty of violent conduct unless the force used was negligible."

None of that applies to this situation.

His touch was loose, and in trying to recover the possession, he tramples over the ball and in a downwards action plants his foot into the Iraqi players shin who goes to challenge, i know it was harsh and accidental, but it is a red card offence at the end of the day.

The contact was inconclusive, if given a pen, VAR wouldn't overturn it. Same way as it worked out.

as soon as his foot goes over the ball, it is deemed violent conduct mate. the ball has passed that phase. Its shit but that is how the AFC officials see it,

Really impressed we didn’t tire with 10 men after 15 mins and a pretty free flowing game. 5 subs helps but in that heat, quite a quick turnaround - impressive fitness

Thanks for clarifying that.

My ignorant eyes saw it a little differently to your response to Alfred just above.

His foot does not go over the ball and into his opponent so much as directly down onto the ball as he just steps on it. When a player slides in with studs towards their opponent and their foot rides up over the ball and into their opponent that constitutes reckless behaviour to me because they aimed their studs that way from the start of their challenge.

Accidentally stepping on the ball before the opponent gets there and finding your foot rolling into the ankle of your opponent feels different to me.

The first example is reckless endangerment, the second I would call just an accident.

I am not a ref :)

When I wear their colours, I am the club.
