The real question is.... did Fitler pick him because he will soon be announced as our coach, or did he pick him on the proviso that Burtom returns to Penrith?

How good does it feel after another big win. Now if we can start a season like this we can get back to being a power house club again.
Well done Burto. Immortality awaits

+xThe real question is.... did Fitler pick him because he will soon be announced as our coach, or did he pick him on the proviso that Burtom returns to Penrith? I think that he was picked to hoist some high bombs and also for his running game. For our coach, I don't think that we would have got these results with Baz. So if they don't want Potter, they have someone better in mind, either way, we have got a better coach, and the squad is coming together. Morrin only lasted 12 minutes, but I liked what I saw in those 12 mins. TPJ excellent the last 2 weeks with our fowards down on troops. Reserve grade also 2 good wins. Sharks are a test, but this is a great time to be tested.

It has been a great turnaround under Michael Potter. The team selections have helped. Averillo at fullback is no brainer. Shiraz and Schuup could be our centre combo for years to come. TPJ can get the ball away better than just about anyone playing today. The defence has steeled tremendously over the past month. I truly hope they haven't made a decision on coach as yet and if they have I don't want it to be Fittler. We are surely all warming to it being Michael Potter.

Top Gun.
So I think it is a bit over-hyped, slow in parts. But there is no doubt some of, if not the, best fighter plane scenes ever filmed, jaw dropping at times.
Definitely a cinema experience. I used my my voucher and payed the extra for Gold, reclining seats and all that.
still got two to go I have to use before end of the month, might go see Elvis.

There was a series called "Sun Records" which ran on cable in USA. I thought the young guy who played Elvis in that (Drake Milligan) was fantastic. My main intrigue is to see if the Elvis in the new picture is as good...Check out Drake as Elvis. Should be a star. Note:In "Sun Records" they couldn't use "That's All Right Mama" as Elvis's first recording. They used "Blue Moon of Kentucky" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJTHw2E_HCE

Good news on Curtis Morrin only 2 weeks. I have seen enough to convince me that he can play NRL in 2023.
We should have a few injured forwards back on deck soon and Tanner might get a run.
We should be able to continue to build momentum and give a few young guys a run.

+xSo this is the new one, not the original? The original hasn’t been in cinemas since 1986. So yeah, the new one.

Whoever is the coach, im happy to give them 2 years to prove themselves but with the team on the up, there's no place for the coach to hide if they backwards and I want coach sacked by Round 10, not midway through a season. This year has proven (by 3 teams) that you wait till halfway of the season to pull the inevitable trigger. You do it by Round 8 or 10 (max) and give the new or interim coach a chance to salvage the season.

You do it by Round 8 or 10 (max) and give the new or interim coach a chance to salvage the season. Offically Potter hasn't efen decided if he wants to apply. 2 more wins in the next 2 games would build a strong case for Potter 2 losses might rule him out. Our game against the Sharks will be a good test of where we are at. So far Potter has delivered in spades, many players have improved and I honestly can't remember the time that our attack was this good. 2 players are dragging down the standard Flanagan and Wardell. Wardell was great off the bench against Parra but for every great game he has 3 average games. Flanagan is looking better now that we have players in motion running on to the ball, but one of them is Wardell. If we want to step up our attack this is the area to think about. But Flanagan and Wardell are going good in defence we want to be sure any replacement isn't a step backwards. So does Potter experiment with a view to 2023, or try to win games? For the next 2 games wins are most important. 2 wins and we might be able to have a crack at the 8. Two losses and building for 2023 is the priority. Since Potter took over I've enjoyed watching our games more than anytime since 2004. Becuase finally we look like we might be headed in the right direction and we have waited 10-15 years for this time. 2 more wins for Potter and Dr Marki is playing for assistant coach. If you want the top job for 2023, start tipping us 😁

Got a report from a relo that went to Redcliffe for Panthers Warriors game. Even with only 8000 facilities shocking. Not up to NRL standard.

Rugby League's approach to diversification of the game is laid bare this week. Two Pacific tests at Campbelltown, NZ v Tonga in NZ, nothing in the Pacific Islands. Another indicator that the NRL is only interested in what they can get from these areas, not promotion

Having said that, they could have taken the games to some country towns like country origin carnival.

But this is one more reason to schedule internationals after the NRL season. If the game will be shown on TV here, a camera crew might need to travel there. If they have a suitable ground, then adding lights for overnight games should be possible.

Jimmy Graham made a comment that Mick shouldn’t be considered now… which was a week ago…. because he wasn’t in the top 20 when the job become vacant. Now that was probably true and a good argument. But there’s a lot changing since. I’d say he’s in the top half dozen now and considering a few that may have been in front of him have ruled themselves out - Ciraldo, Fittler - or have reportedly had a pencil pit through them - Flanaghan, he could be behind only Kristian Woolf. In fact I think he probably is, and things could change in the next twi weeks.

What worries me about Potter. Is that the team is playing similar to when Pay was in charge at the back end of the season. The only difference is the much better roster.

In terms of experience. And I think that’s most important. Green and Flanno are both in front. And Flanno had Cronulla winning a comp playing Bulldogs footy. The coach is obvious.

Jim Dymock had the team playing great footy and was punted for Des...he might have been great but who knows. Fact he hasn't had a job as head coach would indicate he is not really thought of too highly. He did have Barba hitting his straps at the right time. Dean may have strung together a couple of wins at the end of the year and we got excited...can't wait till next year...well when next year came it was back to the ordinary stuff...we didn't score a point on the scoreboard for several games in a row. Enough said. Georgiallis gave us a final game to smile about but nothing much else. Potter has seen us beat Parramatta and Tigers convincingly. Asw Meatloaf said 2 out of 3 ain't bad. What I really liked was the enthusiasm...the enthusiasm shown for the actual plays and the enthusiasm shown towards the try scorers. May have seen similar in a game or two under Dymock but certainly not under Pay and probably not under Georgialis. He doesn't have the job yet but for the players we have he is a good fit.Like to see how we go against Cronulla hopefully with Luke Thompson back. I say bring it on.

So far there are promising signs that team improvement is systematic, and not just a change of attitude or poor opposition. The difference is how we play, team selection, bench rotation and results. As I stated earlier, 2 more weeks worth of improvement will be more convincing. So far Mick hasn't even decided to apply. IMO Mick, Gus and the club are in no rush, everyone is going to see how the next few games pan out. Personally I thought Mick was a good coach when the Tigers sacked him. And that season is the highest they have finished on the table in recent seasons with a pile of injuries. So IMO when a club has a coach that seems to be working out, think carefully before making a decision. Clubs that change coaches more often than a Eels player changes their underwear always end up at the bottom of the table and usually stay there. When they get a hint of something different, take it, run with it and have patience. Everyone thought Kevie Walters was rubbish last season.
