There is still a ton of deadwood in our ranks to get rid of. Potter has seemed totally disinterested since Ciraldo was announced. By the way tonight they were playing eyes-up footy, except their eyes were fvcking painted on... just like the refs.

Not a bad defensive effort tonight , attacking a lot to be desired.  I think Burton over the last few weeks had become too predictable with his plays. Teams have worked him out and you can only do so many high bombs that will work in your favour . He needs to mix his plays . JAC is also another player who is predictable now . He seems to hope for a couple of intercept tries every week . Hopefully CC and co can improve the attack .

Manly playing like busted @r$e$... I bet next week they miraculously find an extra gear and flawless gameplan to end our miserable season.

I think Dessie has lost the dressing room since that pride jersey debacle.  He probably isn't the great coach he once was or everyone thought he was .  I think we can best them if we defend well . It will be an interesting match .

The last 3 weeks are very disappointing, I am not sure what to make of it.

Pangai had a big drop in form, but without him we lack impact in attack.

The depth and quality isn't there.

Fox and Burton no longer firing in attack.

Fox is getting caught out a lot in defence.

Hard to pinpoint why the attack is so clunky, we definitely need to to do a lot of work in the offseason.

I may be wrong but I think Burton's effectiveness is limited by Flannagan's limitations. Flanno has no zip, he does not put doubt in the defence. He is methodical and he always looks to be playing in slow motion thus Burton is not being released to do what he does best.

That's our biggest hurdle. It's easy to get rid of players that are not performing, the hard bit is, replacing them!

I agree, players like Burton and Averillo can take chances given time and space.

Typically the 9 and 7 have to create time, space and opportunity.

We can't simply shuffle the ball out to Burton and expect him to make it happen.

We are also lacking punch in the forwards King and Vaughan are trying hard but need more help.

A new 9 and 7 could make a big difference.

Flanno has no idea as a playmaker and the opposition knows it.
He might have a good pass but it is always just as a matter of passing the ball, not for any benefit.
The Dogs have no one running into a gap with an offload ready.
A lot of (most) tries lately under Potter have been from individual efforts or flukey.
Not knocking that because he gave the licence to do it, but long term it was never going to work.
Burton is always under pressure from the lack of game players inside.
Hopefully fixed partially with Reed, but Flanno can not be part of the team going forward.
Hate to be harsh but Flanno puts pressure on the whole backline form his lack of footie nous.
Surely next week we give a couple of the Reserves like BBO, Alamoti and Shelton a go in 1st grade as they seem to have 3rd place locked up unless the mounties lose by 47 points.
Looking forward to CC next year and what Gus and him can bring to the mighty Bulldogs.

They play opposite sides of the field and so have no real bearing on each other's game.

Let's face it. Burton is more of a disappointment than a revelation this year. Flanno is just garbage.

Even Lewis and Cogger produced every 3rd game.

The reality is, without 2nd phase play from TPJ, some key breaks made by JMK and some flukey tries from kicks or intercepts, we still don't create anything and our halves are squarely to blame.

Flanno does go to the left from time to time but offers nothing. You need your half to be flexible. Take note of the better ones, so yes there is a relationship.

Burton definately needs the right kind of half.

Someone who can ordganise the team, read the play, but most importantly represents an attacking threat.

BBO would be ideal if he could defend, I can see why we might be after Hunt or Sullivan.

I am not at all surpised that Burton and Averillo go ok in the centres, both are the type of 5/8 that is closer to a centre than a 5/8.

I think that we all agree Flanno isn't the answer, he might go ok in a team with Turbo or Latrell at fullback.

I am surpised that we didn't roll the dice on a ZDC at halfback, he is a good defender, a limited player, but he plays up tempo, digs into the line and seems to be a reasonable passer. Not a long term solution, just perhaps a bit better than Flanno.

If not ZDC then Wakeham or BBO, I am not claiming Flanno is the only problem, but he always seems to be where our attack sinks into the quicksand.

I don’t think the halves are to blame for our lack of points scored. It’s a coaching issue.

The fact is that halves do little without field position from a dominant forward pack. Or good service from the hooker.

But I agree. And have been saying for years. We need an experienced half. Add a huge prop or two and we are a much better team.

The way I see it Micko, not one person is wrong in their summary of our woes this season, but they are not entirely correct either. You pinpoint the coach or "coaches" would be more to the point. Yes, putting the right players in their correct postions, structures, gameplans, bench rotation yeah that's all on the coach. The attitude and effort, that's directly on the players. The big one is, acquiring the right type of player and that one belongs to management. So we are in a slump for many reasons and I hope Gus has a cunning plan.

A wasted season from a coaching point of view. Two coaches, never going to work. Hard decision needed to be made at end of last season. Plenty of evidence available after Barrett's dual failures with us and at Manly. Now we start again with coaching philosophy, processes, staff, fitness,  preparation and all the other bits and pieces that go to getting a team ready for a long NRL season.

Correction.
No SALE of NEW fossil fuel cars.....
You will still be able to drive around in your ICE car and probably be able to buy a second hand 2026 model Toyota Corolla for 130k. 5.0L Mustang GTs will be 250k.

I miss the days when you used to rant about things...

I know that you will be right into the soccer talk,  as you know my EPL team had a lucky win over Villi's team in the EPL.

I wouldn't say Villi was a curse, because I am fond of the truth and reluctant to part with it.

But his real world teams go just as bad as his fantasy league teams.

This is close to the truth but our halves wasted many of the meagre opportunities they did get.

We can't always rely on our pack to finish on top of the opposition, the spine needs to get the job done and turn the momentum. Burton did it occasionally  but after a while the opposition started to read his plays.

Reed is hopefully going to improve hooker, we need better props and a better half.

What we particularly need is a big prop fit enough to last the openning 20.

The halfback should be the main kicking option at the opponents end and be able to spark an attacking move.

We need a half more like Sherwin.

I would be happy if CC initially just gets our defence, completions and kicking game right. With the addition of Kicks we should have enough attack to win with a good share of posession and field position.

That said I did a few of laps of Mt Panorama yesterday arvo for the first time, some Ford work fleet vehicle… I’m no car racing fan (it’s not a sport) but I do like to give a car a squirt… the 60km speed limit is incredibly frustrating…

Whatever those downhill bends before Conrod straight are called reminded me of the Woronora bends in some ways… the TV coverage doesn’t really highlight the reality… I think they do like 120km around that section which is pretty impressive…

Well, we've  got to the last game of the season, doesn't  appear we see any need to look at a couple of experimental/inspired selections. Flanagan still being picked, does that mean he will still be our half next year?

JR train and trial contract for $1K a week is money well spent for the Mocks reaction alone…

I'm so pleased with this.
I'm tempted to get Reynolds plastered on my jersey from my excitement.

Like I said.... JR at 30-something might be able to teach Burton a thing or 2 playing 5/8th....
