+xWasn't that initiated outside the box? With holding it is where it finishes that counts which was clearly in the box.

A very good game to watch. Full on and played at pace. Well done to both clubs.

+x+xWas a good half of football. Better skills against better organisation - with both sides being skilled and organised. Arzani, who without the ball runs like he has poo in his pants, is having a ripper with the ball at his feet. I am impressed by what Yorke is doing with the club. Clear pen any day - cleverly won by taking advantage of a defender being far too close and far too physical to be able to pull out. Clever step across to ensure contact is going to be a pen every time. Defender had to either be either more physical or less physical outside the box but caught in between by skill and speed. Good to see Toure running so freely. A few times Macarthur have got in each other's way with their enthusiasm but that is not a bad thing. Sydney United quite lucky not to get cards early with some deliberate hacking and the odd flying forearm - but mostly settled and relied on skill and pressure rather than taking their opponent out. I do say mainly - still been some awfully haphazard challenging. That said, it is certainly not all one way traffic and the skilful organised play from SU is slick and deadly. Hope the second half continues the quality and entertainment. So where was the card for Davilla in the opening minute. Not a pen imo Plus thecard for Baccus for repeated infringements I missed the first 5 minutes or so - so I am happy to admit I may have missed something to even the ledger a bit. No question the pen was played for and got. No question it was a cruel twist. Davila made sure he stuck his leg across the defender (who had been foolishly trying to grapple and tug without getting caught) and the defender was caught desperately trying to get anything on Davila to slow him down. Just can't defend from behind in the box. Always going to be a pen for me in any game. Repeated infringements were a fairly common occurrence in the game - whether by an individual or on an individual. The challenges I have a problem with are the ones that aim to injure. And I cite Roberts in the last minutes with that deliberate, frustrated leg stomp as a fine example. Credit to SU58 for their game - nothing will take the pain but the players were a huge credit to themselves and their league, their supporters were fantastic (except for throwing stuff and the mandatory 'youth with finger extended' that proves they're orfentic). I really enjoyed the match and especially the 90 minutes of continuous battle. The effort of always having a player coming to help in every challenge shows commitment and dedication not lost on those who appreciate the work done by good teams off the ball. Got to say I loved the way Macarthur ran down the clock by attacking and recycling in the front half of the pitch. I wish the teams I supported did more of that and less of the back passing that leads to dangerous turnovers. Congratulations Bulls fans on here. Congratulations and commiserations SU58. Both teams made it a worthy final.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

You can hear Bosnich with that laugh when Yorke comes up the stairs. Bozza is hilarious most of the time.

+xCrowd is fantastic there is 'real' atmosphere something the A L lacks even the Socceroos there is 'real passion credit to SU58 fans and the Croatian/Australian community - wish the FA would actually do something to try capture that passion at the top levels of football in Australia Verati Is booing the Welcome to Country part of the "atmosphere". Pathetic.

Sydney U. hung in there, but really MacArthur should have scored four or five goals. Some poor finishing on display.

Pathetic. Im glad they booed it. Not sure why sporting bodies feel the need to bust out the welcome to country at every opportunity, this fixture had absolutely no relevance to it. This was about migrant communities, a chapter of Australian football history colliding with new football, the welcome to country just felt out of place and awkward.

+xwell at least the Australia cup is getting traction on twitter the idiot doing the Nazi salute is a fukn idiot He wasn’t the only one, there were quite a few. Not only that, there was Ustase imagery in the crowd as well as “Za Dom Spremni” chants seemingly done by a large group, probably well over 100 people https://twitter.com/boycey1105/status/1576172343801499651?s=21&t=CTN6-fV3K325gXzbPONjmw

Negative headlines tomorrow I fear. Lots of other news on so hopefully it'll get smothered. Incredibly disappointing and maybe a stoush or flare in Parramatta will add to the story.

No it needs to be covered, otherwise this gets swept under the rug and nothing changes The clowns do not get how much they have held their team back by their pre planned "we hate the A league " nonsense, and that is what it was, make no mistake. Any chance of these teams gaining access to the top league have sadly diminished.

+xArzani is better than Leckie even in this less fit state. Arzani had some terrible shots at goal and couldn’t run out 90 minutes the way Leckie can - but he penetrated defenders plenty of times with dribbling and passing that Leckie hardly ever does - if ever

BTW their was never 16000 there. I thought 12000 at best.

Do they want to be accepted and welcomed by mainstream Australian football or are they happy (and they do seem to be) to give a big fuck you to everyone.

Any opinion on that? Intolerance and disrespectful behaviour towards other cultures. The very things I loved about our game- the multiculturalism, the inclusion are all undone by people who they themselves claimed victim by ‘new football’.. Got to feel for those who want to just move forward in the game. I think a huge backlash is coming. https://www.news.com.au/sport/football/fans-condemned-for-disgusting-behaviour-during-australia-cup/news-story/4223ca95234dcdf43023efc6bf0e56af#l8q705av529hladh2a4
