+x+xCan't believe there is ~6 pages and counting of morons trying to defend or justify what happened on Saturday night. There is no defending or justifying it and I hope the book is thrown at SU58. Anyone got any thoughts on the actual game? Thought Arzani looked great over the first 60 or so mins. Also impressed by DDS in a much deeper role than I'm used to seeing him. Couldn't care less what Mono or Davstar etc have to say about the rest of it. I thought SU having just had 39% possesion was doing a masterclass defensively as expected against a very good attacking pro team.Arzani wish he would finish something but thats not his thing but going forward did well, DDS has always been a smart little player, playing deeper gave him more time. Expected them to play SU off the park sooner or later but didn't occur. Hoping another NPL Club makes it to the final next season for its great popcorn and roosty can just copy paste posts from this season. Agree mate, Did you go to the game? The young Greek lad and Vlastelica in defence where very cool calm and collected. I also liked what Agamemnonas did on the wing and in the change over ... quite a smart player but it took Trifiro to come on and drop a little deeper to make any meaningful foray into the half... I thought SU played 15-20 mins of very pretty football... well done to them.

We had nothing going forward, Payne and Antelmi both needed injections before they played. Payne alone up front couldnt do much. it was a fun ride, and a night most croats will not forget. I was wondering why Antelmi didnt start.... I thought you guys put up a great fight. Bad luck.

+x+x+x+x+x+x+xYep, getting sick of these welcome to country ceremonies infiltrating every sporting, cultural and community event nowdays. Don’t see the need for them. They’re losing impact and kind of dragging on a bit like last night’s one did. Do you have a problem with the maori haka? Everyone seems to love it and has cultural significance in NZ. How is the Welcome to Country any different from an indigenous cultural perspective here? Football in Australia is known for its embracing of cultures from all over the world. Most of it is fantastic. Some of it is bad (ie. Sydney United on Saturday night). What our sport doesn’t do very well is getting our first nations people to play Football. Some of the skills they posses in other sports would suggest indigenous Australians would be great at Football. You only need to look as far as Sam Kerr of course. Embracing indigenous culture with things such as Welcome to Country at matches may get more of them interested in playing our sport, and that can only be a good thing. But if you wanna be a snowflake by getting triggered about random "woke" stuff (which is what people like you would label it as), that’s your problem. The rest of us will just get on with it. Yeah you’re 100% right about football in Australia being known for its embracing of cultures from all over the world……except if your club happens to have a Greek, Italian, Croatian, Macedonian or any other migrant background. In that case the well known racist phrase ‘fuck off we’re full’ applies to you. Football Australia hides behind all this inclusivity, diversity and WTC rubbish whilst clubs tagged ‘ethnic’ are left rotting away and made to feel like outsiders so spare me with your lets get more indigenous people involved in our beautiful and inclusive game. Cmon mate, those clubs could barely fill a trough let alone a football stadium. Everyone gets sentimental about the NSL but the reality is the A league at its worst is still better than the NSL at its best. Additionally you had ethnic and non ethnic clubs come and go ay the behest of a stiff breeze, the FFA just took that rationale and applied it to all the current clubs and found that only a few clubs were commercially fit, not un-ironically the clubs that didtn play on cow paddocks and could more than 2-3k bums on seats. From recollection South didnt even apply for a license or were under significant financial pressure at the time, therefore there was no protest at the time when they weren’t admitted. There’s nothing about the A league or FFA that says “fuck off we’re full” this is just mantra from die hard NSL aficianodes who hate the fact the game went mainstream and anglos stole their sport. Maybe the FFA could do a better job of honouring/recognising old soccer but thats pretty much what the Australia Cup is supposed to do.
Australia is probably the only country in the football world that has a racist promotion policy. No ‘wog’ club is allowed under any circumstance to be admitted, promoted, invited into its top flight. The door is firmly shut, fuck off basically. When you can barely find a thousand bums to put on seats then your ”racist promotion policy” theory just sounds paranoid and delusional. Having a proud heritage and strong history isnt enough. Naturally a club that is in administration and on the verge of financial collapse wasnt going to be considered for an A league license. Nothing to do with race. 😅 OK, maybe in 2005 after a decade of mismanagemtn in a failing /corrupt league, but what about the last 17 years since? Are you saying that a club with a long term lease at the ONLY stadium in Melbourne outside AAMI, a storied juniors men's and women's academy, strong (although dwindling) fan base and financial backing lining up to invest is more of a FINANCIAL liability than WU or MacArthur or Melbourne Heart etc etc.....? You've answered every other comment Roosty, why not this one mate?

Isnt the whole point of t he Aleague being a closed off league, only expanding based on some fairly arbitrary "guidelines" and thinly veiled racist bias the very essence of "fuck off we're full"? Otherwise it would be "Here is what we need from you to be included ..... show us what you can do" ...... It's not completely racially bias telling "others" to "fuck off we're full".... The Dutch were accepted to the A-League 🤫 Also, I recall something about a bunch of Irish lads in the NT forming a team called 'Darwin Rovers' several years ago. I believe there is also a team called 'Celtic' in Alice Springs. So not all football bodies in Australia are completely racially bias, the Irish seem to be welcomed in the Northern Territory 🇮🇪😄 Sorry lad, Irish and Dutch are not "effnik" enough :) Cannae comment regarding the Dutch, but the Irish for generations across the 'Anglo-Saxon Protestant World' have often been seen and treated as a lower class and discriminated against. Times are fine now (in most places). So maybe in the near future the people of Balkans and Slavs heritage can join us.. As Monty Python say... "Always look on the bright side of life" 😗😗😗 Thanks for the little ray of hope.. Maybe my children's children will one day be considered Aussies? A wee bit off topic:Be careful what you wish for, as it things can swing around so fast, that all of a sudden it's cool, and everyone will be claiming that they are "insert peoples/culture here", because their 'great-great-great-great-grandfathers/mothers-nextdoor-neighbour-dog-was-from' "insert peoples/culture here."WAY off topic:They will then go on about how their "insert peoples/culture here" were mistreated and discriminated against, and it is something that they personally have had to put up with their entire lives, and the fight they personally have had to endure (or something to that extent). They will even agrue that they are more "insert peoples/culture here" then you are, and get offended (even aggressive) if/when you challenged/question them on/with certain facts/topics/etc. Still WAY off topic:But not all is doom and gloom. Seeing the faces and reactions when you call them a "Plastic "insert peoples/culture here" is always priceless. They either will get offended, and prove how wrong you are for calling them "Plastic", or it goes completely over their heads (Americans are the best when doing "Plastic") 😆 ▪︎INSERT/NOTE:Sorry for the rambling on, I haven't slept/been awake coming up to 54-ish hours. So just a wee bit sleep deprived (currently at the weird stage of Insomnia). Back To/On Topic:So football. Good game. 2-0. GGOOoooo Team!!! WOOHOO!!! 🎉🎉🎉 Never apologise mate, just do something about that insomnia... its shithouse Ive been there. "Plastic" baiting helps... :)

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xYou gotta love Sydney United fans… They didn’t boo the welcome to country they booed the opposition.. They weren’t Nazi salutes they were waving hi to their nonnas… They weren’t chanting za don spremni they were singing “ we adore Sydney” They weren’t cans of zyklon b they were collecting money for charity… Does anyone honestly think certain Aleague fan groups would NOT have openly booed a middle aged bird waffling on about stuff they have no interest in? The same bloke who whinges like a crazy dog because his sad little ethnic team can't play in the top tier of football complains about our indigenous people having a right to have a say. Says everything about you. Maybe I should objectify young women like you eh you boring old fart? Yeah whatever!!!! I've got football to watch the A-league & the World cup, enjoy your Mediterranean games in the NPL you arsewipe. Tsk, tsk what would your elders, past, present and emerging have to say about such blatant racism? Doesnt sound very welcoming to me to describe a bunch of clubs founded by migrants to these shores so dismissively as "Mediterranean games" especially not the ones founded by Britons, North Macedonians, Portuguese for example. Keep spinning those wheels turbo, your outrage is only going to make the uniting of ALL clubs in Australia so much sweeter when/if it finally happens.... There is no outrage on my part, I'm going to the football this Saturday night to watch the mighty SFC smash those AFL loving Melbourians (victory). I'm going with all my Aussie mates, whose forefathers range from Portuguese, Serbian, English, Dutch, Croatian, Italian, Irish, Ukrainians & yes even a few Greeks, one or two even have some Aboriginal blood, but we all Aussies cheering for an Aussie team without feeling like a victim. Thats a lot of mates there turbo, sounds like you'll have a lot of fun. Hope they are not ALL imaginary and at least one or two of them are real people. Enjoy your "Super Blue Bash Bonanza" or whatever you plastics call the first round of your pretend summer series these days. For your sake I hope hooligans from the Cave or Horta dont decide to try and outdo the part timers from a poor little Mediterranean league and spoil the Aussie atmosphere for you. I doubt they could even if they tried, looked like those guys ringing cow bells and Mexican shirts for some reason only numbered like 300 or so max.... You are struggling mate, I'm sorry, no AFL, no NPL no Greece in WC (but then you should be used to that, even the pathetic Australian A -League has produced more WCs than Greece!!! Enjoy your mediocrity. NPL season just finished a month ago turbo, its called the off season, it will be back in Feb.... no biggie. In the meantime there is EPL, Serie A and Greek Super League on my telly so absolutely no struggle at all .... WC will be a fascinating watch too, looking forward to the A-League all stars performing on the world stage since you mention mediocrity.... Hope your multicultural friends dont get too disappointed by the "uniqueness" My multicultural friends are all Aussies, we all have our heritage & we all proud of it & has moved on from the victim mentality you still have. We all want the Socceroos to do well & have a 2nd team in our forefathers country, all except my Greek friend, he always misses out. I think you need to jump on the internet and actually understand what "multiculturalism" is turbo.. I know its a big word but to dumb it down for you it you actually need "multiple" "cultures" celebrating themselves to work correctly. Suppressing cultural expression of self identity is actually the Opposite of what you think you are portraying... do better.

Fark man, stop pointing out the truth about society's warmth, many prefer to live in a fantasy world and think its all beautiful, like afl. Btw, welcome to country fellow citizens, even if you were born here, are land owners and pay hefty taxes that go to all sorts of causes, desirable or not. Be sure to come in, take your shoes off, stay alittle then kindly leave, as I don't want to put up with your visitation for too long. Have a great stay. To some, a smoke ceremony is seen as a pagan ritual. Not accepted by everyone, seen as woke as well, being imposed upon athletes, from here or overseas coming to compete, having to put up with it. Leave to keyboard warriors like you to tell us what the truth is. Truly sorry to try to make the world a better place instead of leaving at the status quo & see us continue down the same downward path. A better place? Someone welcoming an Australian citizen by another Australian citizen Why? You are the sort of bloke that goes with any flow, just so you conform to anything that is thrown at you, a people pleaser. This country is everyone's not indigenous primarily. This is a woke thing. Let's have a European welcoming on the next occasion, something wholesome, and ceremonial. Why not? Infact let's cut to the chase, the Orthodox and Catholics burn incense and kiss icons of Saints, there are the Rosary beads and Mary, or the Eucharist drinking ceremony. A smoke ceremony for one, can be viewed as a culturally religious thing, It's not accepted by everyone as others have different beliefs to that kind of ceremony and don't want to partake. Still, booing is not my go. Very very simple open your eyes, it's sad when I see so many with their eyes closed walking around thinking one is better then another. Yes, so why is one culture subconciously maming and strong arming other cultures with a supposed superiority for? Why did this ceremony start in the first place and what's the indirect message to having the ceremony? Have a debate, soon. Open it up to other cultures. I want to see abit of drinking communion from the Eucharist served by a pastor, on the field, on TV before the ALeague grand final this season. Foster plays the racist card for those that don't want to participate in listening to that indigenous message. I feel he and others in return are racist for not taking the communion on grand final day like I suggested on the field, on TV. Why is your better? The Nationai Anthem states: Australian ALL let us rejoice, for we are ONE and free. We were not 'ONE' and free 2 years ago, we were 'Young' and free, a country that is over 5000 years old, only young from European people. Why is law in Queensland to lock up a drunk Indigenous person, but if you are drunk & were white or Chinese or Arab, you are told to go home? Why do people refuse to sit next them on buses? Why are the likes of Anthony Mundine & Adam Goodes more disliked (even hated) then your normal equally highly opinionated white sportsmen? Why are they not accepted in their own country? Why not walk in their shoes for awhile to understand. As a kid, I used to kick the rugby League ball and play footy occasionally with two Indigenous brothers in my street until they moved. Two other guys of my european background, alittle older wanted me to join them and hang out instead. I, as a youg fella thought about it but nah, I stayed with the two indigenous guys, even though one of the boys just mucking around pissed on my foot for afew seconds. Being kind hearted that I am, I saw the funny side. So I am not against other cultures and I don't want them forced upon me. I cannot pretend to be indigenous, I don't owe anyone anything and I don't want to share in customs I don't believe in. Rack off, keep walking!

+x+x+xThis thread is about to become very quiet... What happened? Most, if not all of the accusations have been proven to be false. The only ones that have plausible deniability is the noise during the Welcome to Country. The Nazi salutes, fascist symbolism and the “Za Dom Spremni” chants look to be pretty clear cut. I don’t really care what happened during the anthem.

Watch the footage... it would be a hard press to try and convince someone that the kid is saluting. ZDS originates from the 16th century. Since you are an expert in croat history I will let you do the research.

ZDS was literally the salute of the Usatse. Regardless of it’s origin, it’s completely unacceptable and even in Croatia itself it’s frowned upon.
You also conveniently ignored my point of fascist symbolism. There was literally a Croatian flag with the Ustase logo on it in the crowd.

Regardless of it’s origin, it’s completely unacceptable and even in Croatia itself it’s frowned upon. frowned upon with the left media and the yugo lovers, not with the war hero's and the real croatian people. https://inavukic.com/2012/01/09/croatian-court-peels-off-the-lies-and-hateful-stigma-of-za-dom-spremni-for-home-ready-salutation/ Haha fuck off. Josip Simunic literally got a 10 game ban for leading the chant. It’s an unacceptable chant and anyone doing it deserves to be punished ohhh Yes by FIFA, a well respected Organization....

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xThis thread is about to become very quiet... There is a video that shows the "kid saluting" actually patriotically singing the Australian anthem waving his right hand straight in the arm. You also conveniently ignored my point of fascist symbolism. There was literally a Croatian flag with the Ustase logo on it in the crowd. The footage is in the twitter link that I posted on pg. 20.

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xYep, getting sick of these welcome to country ceremonies infiltrating every sporting, cultural and community event nowdays. Why are the likes of Anthony Mundine & Adam Goodes more disliked (even hated) then your normal equally highly opinionated white sportsmen? ▪︎Why not walk in their shoes for awhile to understand. I can't speak regarding Adam Goodes as I have no idea what his opinions, thoughts, views, comments etcetera are. I knew nothing of him until that racist chant thing happened. So I can't help you there. As for Anthony Mundine?? Now I'm only going off my opinion of him YEARS ago (what he is like now I don't know, so I don't have an opinion now), BUT, in the past he often came across as a c#nt. ▪︎And I have walked in his shoes, as a c@#t is a c#nt regardless of one's skin colour (and I've been a c#nt before).

Wow, now we're discussing propriety of Ustase chants with actual fascist sympathisers and apologists. And this is after more than one person suggested that welcome to country is racist against Greeks and Italians. This forum is fucking disgusting. Stupid fucking morons.

Anthony Mundine could be white as the whitest snow and he'd still be the biggest flog of all time. Definitely nothing to do with race and everything to do with being a giant dickhead. Don't know enough about Adam Goodes but seems there may have been a racist element to it. Besides a whole bunch of people who just didn't want to be told not to boo him. From memory the booing really stepped up a notch after they came out and said it needs to stop.

+x+x+xCan't believe there is ~6 pages and counting of morons trying to defend or justify what happened on Saturday night. Bad timing I was in Italy at the time But we watched it "live"......... Trifiro is the wily ol gun every team needs, hindsight probably should have got on earlier, his performances the last few games has been good to watch. Others mentioned put in their shifts big time.

Can we look to keep this important discussion without the abuse, those throwing it out are behaving no better than those few who were in the wrong at the game. Our game needs both old and new football to finally come to party and it needs both sides of supporters as well. Both have good and bad points - the game overall needs the NSD and those Clubs involved will have to pick up their game/act in many ways meeting todays demands, thats what its going to take otherwise no point, old football has the chance to re invent itself and we need it big time........ Lets move on from the Welcome to the Country, unfortunately we have watched many people during the National Anthem being disrespectful as well for years, long before WTTC. Disrecpect is ingrained in a % of people, more today imo than in the past. This will never change.
