+x+xI just don’t want to get thrashed and we leave the tournament on a sour note. no one wants this but we have made it this 'far' on merit we got to have a little faith the boys will put up a good fight regardless of the outcome You’re right I’m behind the lads. I’m also going to bed good night let’s go soccerooos

+x+xWe have a really low percentage of getting a win but I would relish the experience of playing in a second round match which we haven't done since 2006 with the GG and so hope it inspires the next generation to take the mantle and take us into the next level because we are quite their yet compared to more establish football powerhouses like Argentina. Plus we will be so tired, the lack of options of the bench is a problem so if we have to throw in youth like Kuol and Tilio who are the future at least they can get some valuable experience going into 2026 but we don't have the depth compared to Argentina. So I think this is where our journey will end sadly :( Agreed but what a journey it's been! Indeed they dared us to dream, I still cant believe we have gone this far.

Why the defeatist mentality? 5-0 thrashings and wot not? During South American qualifiers Argentina played Peru three times, winning 1-0, 2-0 and 0-0. They also beat Ecuador twice and drew once. Based on these statistics albeit crude the likelihood of Australia obtaining at least a draw after 90 minutes is about 33%. Sure those countries have played Argentina many times, but we have already blown the cobwebs out v France and proven our capability v Denmark, a top 10 side, so we have no reason to fear Argentina. Respect yes, but fear no.
Additionally Saudi Arabia beat them. So we know for a fact they can be beaten, there is a realistic chance of obtaining at least a draw against them, and predictions of 5-0 drubbings arent supported statistically.
The only acceptable result against Argentina will be victory.

I’m open minded, every dog has its day. crazier results have happened in football - were there where heaps of others would wish to be. we do our best that’s I wish for go hard fellas.

Shut up man. It was all good until that. Did you watch them against Poland? They're too good. If we win, it will be a sporting miracle of gargantuan proportions. We're better than we dared to think, but we're not that good. An honourable loss will be more than acceptable at this point of our evolution.

The only acceptable result against Argentina will be victory. You can probably list 10 possible score outcomes, all equally possible, and a 5-0 result is one of those possibilities (but a 5-0 win would definitely NOT be one of those possibilities).

+xThe way Degenek has been in camp is absolutely exemplary. He's been really firing up the team and performed near perfectly on the pitch. Total redemption for the Asian Cup error. I've said forever he was fouled there. Should've been our free kick.

Don't know what everyone's so worried about.
Extra time - penalties - grey wiggle to the fore...
We go through.

They are too good, but If Saudi can beat them so can we. There are so many surprise results this world cup, that is the nature of football, not always the best team with the best players wins. There isnt a single team in this world cup who have won all three games in their group. Argentina can be defeated and that is the only way you will give yourself a chance, with a “we will defeat them” mindset, as opposed to giving up before a fucking ball is kicked.

German Kicker with a nice Facebook post now and it hadn't occurred to me that we're the only Pot 4 team to get through. They've given us the title. Last team standing!

Argentina know where near as good as everyone making them out to be .. we've already faced a much tougher opponent. Argentina favourites but we do have a chance if we keep our defensive structure and press well

SBS saying we're a 442 but they'll surely be moving around. Argentina with a stacked compact midfield which we must win the battle against.

Not the occasion but a lot of our players have been to San Pedro Sula, Old Firm Derbies, European nights, all or nothing Playoffs. With 3 groups games in the bag I don't think we'll be fazed. Stick tight and stick together.

Nice that German TV has Broich on. Of course Khedira and Hitzelsperger are very optimistic for Argentina but Broich adds fair, rational points.
