+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xWhy does modern football pander to bland family friendly woke virtue signalling ? Sucking the passion out of the game. It find it amusing when people use the word “Woke” as a put down. It’s not. It really isn’t. If you haven’t noticed, Australian Football is “Woke.” That’s a small part of the attraction for me. It is. It really is. And it is because the movement is inauthentic and the people are hypocrites. Agree. I live in a part of Europe at the moment where there's a distinct absence of wokeness in every day life. It's a tremendous relief from what you cop in Australia. I choke on my food every time I turn on Australian news. Too much American crap in the Australian media is the problem. Murdoch has a lot to answer. It's at every English speaking country mostly but also at other westernized countries, but far more moderate. You turn on the CNN, BBC these days and you'll vomit. Much like our ABC. Thanks the heads up Tucker. I try to get the best news from inforwars, OAN and Fox. No narrative there, just straight facts. "I live in a part of Europe at the moment where there's a distinct absence of wokeness in every day life. It's a tremendous relief from what you cop in Australia." PSG
Hahahaha someone should tell our dear friend that a mountain village in Turkmenistan isnt "really" a standard part of Europe. Despite the usual fascist right wing minorities the rest of the continent is very much about respect for other people..... the 1940s and 50s are OVER. What if I told you I was referring to Greece? They seem to be much better here than 'youz' Greeks in Melbourne. ROFL I would be extremely embarrassed and ashamed for the Greeks you interact with on a daily basis Paulie... I would also be disgusted that you are trying to portray such a beautiful country and progressive, friendly people as the backward conservative neanderthals you want them to be.... Get out of your theia Aglaia's front room in Koukaki (if you are indeed in Greece) and go out and speak to the rest of the country..... its NOT the 50s anymore Toto....

Off topic but one of my best Football mates came from Greece in his early teens with his family...
AnyWho, we where playing a local game and a bit of a grudge match.... 20 minutes in my mate gets sent off along with a player on the other side for fighting... half time we said what happened... and I quote and this cracked me up... he said he called me a pommie C.... and we said but you are a C on the field... and he replied but I am not a pommie....
KInda like MSC was posting... the Greeks are far from being backwards and lets be fair they are where democracy started... my mate was more offended at being called a pommie that he was at being called a C...
Sorry off topic...

The poor Ities where living in huts when the Greeks had to establish cities on the 'ol boot and show them how to make olive oil, bread, wine and cheese. The Portuguese had to discover America so they could cook passata with their tomatoes from the "new world" and Marco Polo outright stole noodles from the Chinese..... to "invent" pasta. I must say, you buggers did get pretty good at making the most of what you were taught. hahahahahahahahaah

Thread about flogs in football evolves into a who's food is better thread. Wasn't expected that. I like Greek food and Italian food. Both delicious. Although I do wish more Greek places offered pork souvlaki. Why is it always lamb here. What's wrong with our Aussie pigs?

+xThread about flogs in football evolves into a who's food is better thread. Wasn't expected that. I like Greek food and Italian food. Both delicious. Although I do wish more Greek places offered pork souvlaki. Why is it always lamb here. What's wrong with our Aussie pigs? Is there any better encapsulation of strayan sokkah? For what it’s worth, my 2c on the actual topic at hand. firstly, this sport is a global platform, and therefor its fan culture is relatively international/global. so that fact that the subculture developed somewhere meant that it was able to spread everywhere, ie “The English disease” etc. obviously there were historic/cultural reasons why it developed, but in reality there doesn’t need to be a “reason” any more than there’s a reason why people graffiti trains. it has nothing to do with the trains themselves, but the subculture now exists in affiliation to train systems around the world as a concept, and will always be taken up by a new generation of youth attempting to emulate those who came before them because it seems cool to them. some will quickly grow out of it, others never will. for me, you’ll ever truly rid the sport of hooliganism just as you’re unlikely to ever to completely rid railway infrastructure of graffiti, all you can do is manage it and keep it to as low a level as possible.
As a side note, in my personal opinion we do a poor job of managing it in this country. most people in Australia either fit into the category of those who grossly overstate the potential for trouble (a riot could start at any place, at any time and for any reason at any sokkah game), or those who understate it (they think it’s a media beat up, or that “we don’t have hooligans in Australia that’s only in Europe”) etc etc. police are over zealous, but are disorganised, inconsistent and have no idea how to take effective preemptive action. Many don’t even know what a soccer hooligan is, they just see “sokkah supporter being rowdy = hooligan”

I said it was a relief not to be exposed to such wokeness as a compliment. You think the symbolism of being woke is progressive or good lol? Stop turning it around to some imaginary comments I supposed to have made and get rid of that massive chip on your shoulder. Greece is an incredibly nice country and I have fantastic Greek friends and work colleagues to make it even better. 5 months here now and my missus and I couldn't be happier.

Spent my first 2 months in Greece eating at some restaurant, every night. Now it's only 2 - 3 times a week. So I can say with some authority I was blown away by the variety and delicious food. Italian food is quality of the highest order however.

Interesting take mate and in regards to you mentioning the "English disease" I was living in Greece at the time of the Hasel riot in 85 and remember the media being almost shocked when a touring mob of Dutch supporters where arrested for throwing oranges with razor-blades in them at Greek fans in Athens... Headline that sticks out in my memory was something along the line of "English disease? ... how did the Dutch catch it?" We are certainly not alone in the world in having football hooliganism problems in this country....... only difference is that instead of "the English disease" here it was always "Effnik Sockah"

It was you that mentioned something derogative you donkey a mountain village in Turkmenistan This is not SM Hellas we're talking about.
Now now Paulie, don't get your knickers in a knot.... If you want to learn Greek words to try on your "fantastic Greek friends and work colleagues" why dont you google translate some phrases like: "tinpot effnik Greek club" "pumpkin seed eaters" "a club called Hellas doesnt "fit" in our society"

+xThread about flogs in football evolves into a who's food is better thread. Wasn't expected that. I like Greek food and Italian food. Both delicious. Although I do wish more Greek places offered pork souvlaki. Why is it always lamb here. What's wrong with our Aussie pigs? Don't even get me started on lettuce in a Gyro.... hahahahahahah

Although I do wish more Greek places offered pork souvlaki. Why is it always lamb here. What's wrong with our Aussie pigs? there doesn’t need to be a “reason” any more than there’s a reason why people graffiti trains. it has nothing to do with the trains themselves, but the subculture now exists in affiliation to train systems around the world as a concept, and will always be taken up by a new generation of youth attempting to emulate those who came before them because it seems cool to them. some will quickly grow out of it, others never will. for me, you’ll ever truly rid the sport of hooliganism just as you’re unlikely to ever to completely rid railway infrastructure of graffiti, all you can do is manage it and keep it to as low a level as possible.
Brilliant

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xWhy does modern football pander to bland family friendly woke virtue signalling ?
