I wonder how much publicity will occur if the Socceroos beat Argentina next week( probably fanciful thinking on my behalf for that to happen).

Looks like Tottenham have off-season friendlies scheduled against West Ham, Leicester and Roma. Will be good to see him up against Mourinho. Perhaps he'll have a quick word to Souttar and Volpato too.

There will be a generation of Spurs fans here in Australia.... Like in our time mate (you can almost tell how old a soccer fan in this country is by what EPL club they follow)

I follow Leeds, ouch

But so true, except when it's a bandwagon club

I once had a younger fella give me shit about following Leeds and he was giving it to me about how everyone should follow liverpool. He mockingly asked me why I'd want to follow Leeds and I said Harry Kewell.

He seemed shocked that I'd follow a club because an Australian played there. I quizzed him on that and after a few awkward sentences it seemed the fella had absolutely no idea Harry had played for Liverpool as well.

With all the adulation for Ange - and I too am thrilled that an Australia is coaching in the Premier League for the first time - are there any others who have a slight sour taste of how he left the Socceroos Australian national team just months before the 2018 World Cup?

In one sense yes, in another, no, because after the Syria and Thai games we looked on track for a 0-0-3 hiding. Obviously I know how it turned out, but with BVM we at least stood a chance.

Despite the reasons given (media) I think the odds of a 0-0-3 WC were a big reason for Ange resigning when he did and have posted this several times.

Fixtures out Thursday.

Sancho to Spurs would be decent. Fresh start and system he'd go well in.

Raya with strong Spurs link.

Worst thing about all this Ange stuff is now I'm forced to keep an eye on the EPL after assiduously avoiding it for years.

And likely have to listen more often to eurosnob wankers.

Mirabella is lovely old bloke but funny how he wanted to "pay his wages" to go to a cross town rival but didnt put his hand in his pocket for the Roar payroll or better yet bring him to his own franchise.....

Maybe now that DiPietro and Mirabella are back throwing money at a desperate bid to get New Juve into the NSD they can bring Ange back "home".... lol

Ange is so good at re-invigorating players, he would absolutely excel in a proper environment with good coaching he just looks lost at united.

He can score 20 goals a season in the EPL if he can get him right.

Ange needs to condense his squad first and foremost. Fix the back 4, get a new GK, deal with Kane, find a 6 within his squad or elsewhere.

He's going to be a busy man.

Glad to read this.

It makes me annoyed too, that all we ever hear from mainstream media re football is about any Aussie who has some sort of connection  with the EPL - Ange, Sam Kerr, Souttar, ATM.

Kisnorbo has been coaching in France for most of the season, but nothing is ever mentioned in mainstream media about it.

At last for the first time in years a  distant mate raised it in a social setting. The first discussion about football raised by somebody other than me for years!

Yes.

Never explained why he left.

It must be very rare in world football that any other coach turns their back on a World Cup after qualifying.

Reading his book, I thought Ange was a strange guy. Players thought so too.

No chance. He's a creator not a goalscorer. Also Anges wingers stay wide rather than cut in a score a lot of goals.

With clear instructions from ange though sancho can bring out his best. Certainly has a high level of technique albeit lacking a bit of power

We'll never get it but I'd like a tell-all about why on earth he reverted to a back 3, seemed to lose the dressing room in 2017 (Confed was half OK). I'd love to have been a fly on the wall. Did the players believe or even feel capable of the system? Was there some dissent in the ranks?

The press were too busy trying oust him than actually analyse any football. Which manager has ever spoken in technical terms at a press conference and justified their play? Most coaches probably think they don't owe anyone and explanation.

If our group had seen a couple of draws then the pesky Saudis wouldn't have been an issue and things would've been OK. That stupid Thailand away draw and Iraq away made things really tough. Bloody Juric falling instead of going for Kruse's cross Japan away.

Ange's career really took off post Australia and it's been a great ride.

Big blow for Ange.

As an aside, I've digested a lot of content in the last week and seems like the fan-base are split on Postecoglou and there is immense hatred of the board.

Things were not rosy when Ange got into Celtic but Tottenham's cancerous support is on another level. They could turn on him VERY quickly if things don't go according to plan.

Spurs start Brentford away then to Old Trafford then Bournemouth away. Play all 3 promoted teams by mid October which probably means they'll be tougher then on their high than bogged down in December.

He's not strange.

He is is ruthlessly ambitious.

We were inches from not qualifying with the last kick of the game to Syria.  No-one was expecting anything from him in 2014.. but another zero points and negative GD in 2018 would not be a good look for him, and that was a distinct probability.

Made me snort my drink when he said to the Scottish media :" You'll be surprised how long I'll be here (at Celtic)"

Well he wasn't lying!  They all were. LOL.

Son reported to be out for the season with surgery to a recurring injury.

Son had hernia op - he's with his NT and already been doing recovery trianing sessions, he might even get a run in games vs Peru and El Salvador.
Every single Club fan base has some % who disagree with new appointments be it coach or players.
Celtic is nothing to compare with Spurs, he had to deal with blending new players with an ok core and record and deal with 1 major foe in the whole comp.
Now he's in the BIGgest PIT, maybe why Conte spilled the beans about the cancerous culture in Spurs for an eternity having promise but never delivering out of frustration.

The player cleanout is interesting and mentions of the leadership pairing needs to go, Dier for one absolutley, he's just not good enough, very Maguire like.
What I find curious is it mentioned Hojbjerg, he's a brilliant midfiled worker imo, AP would be silly to lose him.
Another despite his age (30 sure isn't old for that level) left on a free now was Moura, Conte didn't like using him but another hard working creative player that always puts in.
Anyway Levy better stump up the $$$'s for by observations player movements are looking massive this summer and the competition between Clubs convincing player managers/and player demands is going OTT.
