+x+x+xI feel this is a better move for Celtic than it is for Tilio. Celtic get a great player but Tilio will play in a league where every league game except for the Old Firm games will be completely uncompetitive. I know Celtic have Champions League football but does playing 6 group stage games against high quality opponents really make up for 30 odd league games where it’s a complete walk in the park? Probably not. Can you please explain how he is a "Great player " ? He's already an established Socceroo, had a great season in the A-League and is one of our most technically gifted players. So yeah he's doing pretty well for himself. So he is up there with guys like De Bruyne or Gundogan, now they are very good players, not quite great yet though ! 5 Caps is hardly an Established Socceroo either.

Quoting "great" it does describe to a level he isn't at compared to others who are proven great players - good/sound player still with much to learn still and prove imo. Yes rating him is more suitable. Its just being picky by some compared to others. I've never rated michelin star eateries for I'm left still hungry and dis satisfied :)

One advantage Tilio has in his locker by his move to Celtic is that he will be the only left footed winger at the club.
We have lot a lot of wingers but they are all right footed and mostly prefer to play on the left hand side (Jota, Maeda, Haksandanovic and Johnston). Only really Abada and Forrest prefer the right side and both righted footed so Tilio is a right sided winger who cuts in which is also something Rodgers likes. I believe he's the first left footed winger we've had since Paddy Roberts and ironically him and Tilio are similar players, perhaps Tilio more direct and better in space, Roberts better in tight areas.

Hopefully Kewell can help iron out some of his weaknesses. I really hope he can be a possive contributor to the team this coming season and not be like Liam Shaw who was signed before Ange turned up and never really made the cut.

Tilio is actually two footed which makes dangerous from either side.

if I was him, I'd be in the gym lifting for next month trying to put on size and come in absolutely fit as he's ever been but it will never happen. Will get there late in pre-season and struggle all year.

Good to him - he is a decent player - technically very solid - got to work on his physicality but he is still got plenty of development left in the tank
these Kangaroos can play football - Ange P. (Intercontinental WC Play-offs 2017)

Bos and Tilio in excess of $2 million each and presumably a good fee for Aidan O'Neil.

I think City come back to the pack this upcoming season.
Tilio, O'Neill and Bos are huge losses. Glover going too. Ugarkovic a decent signing but not in the same class as O'Neill.
I wonder if they bring in some more experienced heads to try and win it or stick fat with getting kids in to try and turn them into profit.
Big opening for Adelaide United and potentially Wanderers who seem to have settled squads

So Melb City's two recent transfers both broke Aus. footballs domestic transfer within the matter of weeks, and have picked up around 4 million dollars in the process.
If that's not a sign for clubs to take youth development seriously who can get the benefit of decent transfer fees from overseas then I dont know what it is. There is a billion dollar industry sitting around waiting to take advantage of, if the clubs have the right strategies in place and will help the clubs bottom line and of course it will help the reputation of Aus. football and the national team pool.
Good luck to Marco Tilio such a joy to watch, im sure he will do well over there because hes an exciting talent.

+x+xTilio is bang average...sorry. clubs like Celtic dont pay 2m on a player that is 'bang average' Actually to the contrary, before Ange arrived they made several multi-million dollar flop signings. I really don't see what he brings to Celtic. He's like a 6/10 in just about every department.

I really don't see what he brings to Celtic. He's like a 6/10 in just about every department. 'pretty irrelevant' argument every club/s will sign loads of players that end up flopping they DONT sign players becuz they think they will be 'bang average' [or going to flop] they sign them becuz scouts and management think they can add something to the squad and will be a positive addition to the team...... ill say this i dont think he will become the next Kewell, and the SPL is not really any better then the HAL bar Celtic and Rangers [which also isn't that far ahead] most clubs wouldn't have loads more money then our competition. This 'could' be his level [or his ceiling] but that is better then 75 percent of the players that have been capped for the Socceroos in the last 10 years - i do get that he isnt the 'super exciting' prospect like Azani was but MT going to Celtic is good for Australia if he can cement a place in the XI However if he continues to development playing in Europe puts him in the shop window for bigger things - if not he ends up coming back to Australia i think it is a 'good move' he will play against opposition not a whole lot better [if not the same] as what he is used to in the A-league and he will also get to play against some of the 'very' best in the UCL.

CFG opens doors for players, it adds to their value, it improves their bargaining position.

I've got enough of an idea, how many games is enough of a sample size? Do I need to watch every minute of Tilio's season(s)? From what I've seen, I see a player lacking the fitness to play European football and a player that is middle of the bell curve as far as skill. I'd put just about every starting XI and bench player ahead of him. Name me one player in Celtic's current squad who is inferior? Even James Forrest is a better player than Tilion.

I'd say, based on actually watching him play last season, that he is at the same level as Abada and better than Maeda & Forrest. There's also talk that Jota & Abada may leave.
