+xFrank conversation? Tottenham told Dier that he could leave and he said he wanted to stay. He had interest from several clubs. It's a little late for the frank conversation you'd think. It looks like he'll be sitting out for 4 months and imagine looking for a new home in January. The problem Spurs have getting rid of the dead wood is that: A: They're all on big dollars many other clubs can't afford. B: Some of them are too arrogant refuse to go to a smaller club. Dier could have gone to Fulham for example, but refused. If he wants minutes, he could have gone for a year on loan, then gone to his club of choice on a free next year. Same with Lloris. It almost looks like some of those players are deliberately giving Levy a taste of his own medicine and/or pushing for a payout. And its hard to argue Levy doesn't deserve it. But now that the window is closed, i would suggest Dier has to be picked in the match day squad. Phillips and Dorrington may well turn out to be excellent players, but you can't have 2 18 years old's as backup CB's. You just can't.

Only way Ange loses to big teams is getting outgunned by better players that's it... maybe city/arsenal will beat him just because of the quality they have.
When I seen ETH play Rashford up front against Ange I knew he would win. Even thought ETH has on several occasions said he wants to make "the best transition team in the world" when he has Rashford out wide they much more dangerous on the counter. Absolutely schooled by Ange in that game haha.

I'm listening to a lot of EPL panel discussions lately, recently with 6 panelists being asked what is the surprise of the month in the EPL.
1 mentioned for him was that Chelsea aren't doing as well as anticipated, another agreed but then the others went on to discuss Spurs. Early days yet they said, but they were quite impressed how Ange got them structured and playing without Kane.
Big test of course is when Spurs play the big guns.

there has been countless talk about Ange since game 1 which is great, some for some questioning his game plan. Having watched, read listenned following EPL for a lonnnng time its not surprising the positive talk being the bar was so low worst finish 8th last season and very disjointed, IF it weren't for Kane banging 30 (just on half their GF) they would have been mid to lower the team was that much in a mess especially defensively, 30 GA more than winners City for eg.. A usual Top 4 contender for years - Ange has a good slate to work with, Maddison been a great buy they have lacked a midfield general since Erickson departed. I wait with baited breath how the Gooner (A) and LFC (H) games turn out as the first 2 genuine tests.

Personally LFC, I haven't been that impressed with the Gunners. They seem to be a little confused with how Arteta is setting up is team, playing Partey ar right back for example. He may become his own worst enemy if he continues to tinker too much. I understand he lost Timber early in pre-season but they just don't look "at it" during this early stage. Liverpool on the other hand I've been more impressed with, particularly that win against Toon and the firepower they have upfront. That could be the bigger test of the two for now.

haha I've avoided your Gooner comments to a degree with a grin prior but yer, they arn't looking as fluent as last season till the wheels fell off in the games that really counted. He's a interesting man viewing from the couch, his manner is that much more emotional than when he was on the pitch to me and yes I think he is a complicated or conflicted with his mind game process. The trained Pep apprentice on a tighter budget he expects alot more than his troops are capable of and reacts like come on. Losing enforcer DH Xhaka has opened up the midfield more than last season. Having a look games to date he has used the same 3 mids every game, usual Saka/Martinelli on the flanks but changed CF a few times - he's played with the backline every game. Hey good let him keep playing Partey at RB haha The only big club they've played is a still out of sorts united the rest mid packers and challenging games they were. IMO they were lucky a few of the usual TOP4 we're out of sorts last season, Chelsea a mess, us/LFC had our woes + 10 draws, Spudz were Spudz but worse and a long time coming Toon resurgence added shuffling the deck. Unfortunately they have a good warm up game before facing Ange following week and lets not forget its always a huge nth London derby it has to be a big test for both tbh. Thanks LFC have shown alot more of their ol bite and zing thanks to the 2 good mid buys, infact brilliant imo. No doubt we got the firepower up front thats a given, 5 to rotate ain't bad !

+xCant believe Tony the Spud is nominated amongst the best Womens coaches..... You might note the amazing depth of Australian involvement in the nominations for World Football's greatest individual awards. Four Matildas, their Coach and Ange Postecoglou receiving world-wide recognition in the one year is actually staggering. Most likely the mass media won't notice at all and it will be a vague reference on some obscure bulletin board that will precipitate a minor reaction by the actual football media.

A bit of a lucky win in some ways and in others well deserved. The team did not have their finishing boots on and wasted many good chances especially in the first half. It could have easily been 3 or 4 nil at half time if they could shoot.

+x+x2:1!!!! Ange FUCKING Ball! It’s only game number five Furfuxsake, once again against lower teams. Yet the best Spurs start since the 1960s and both scorers had been struggling . A lot has been enabled by Ange so far and it's quicker than anyone expected. It might last. It might not.

If Ange keeps this up the question will be 'how are Tottenham going to keep him' As much fun as it's been watching Ange, besides Man U (and that's arguable), they haven't played a contender yet. He's been pretty lucky with the draw they've had an easy run in to the season start. Could have been horrible if they played a few of the big guns early. But loving the ride so far.

good luck to him and them - kudos on the very late late win against a promoted side and @ home - what I love about the EPL is the competition top to bottom. The Blades would be gutted having put up a great fight with just 29% possession...... 7 shots to 28 ! 2 corners to 15 ! I'd be way concerned with all that momentum and running the game it took 90+10 to win it let alone level the score not long before then but alas a win is a win. Now to see what these 5 games lead meeting Gooners away.

I think Ange would be pleased that his players kept going the whole match and found the path to goal to secure the 3 points... Many a PL squad would throw everything and the kitchen sink at the game in the last 10 minutes against a stubborn defence, lose their shape and end up with nothing.... The Arsenal game will be a great watch, pitty its the same time as the reds....

The amount of times Brisbane pulled a win out of their arses with 5 or 10 to go was amazing. Bit of a mantra of his with this 'we never stop' thing.

Gooners LFC later Fulham CP Chelsea lets see IF Poch by then has them in any form of rhythem Nov 7. Wolves played LFC off the park 1st half the other night. Villa City Dec 3. Hammers Toons Dec 10. Great stuff mind you.

Easy to say this in hindsight but the only analysis that matters is what was said at the start of the season and not what is being said after 5 games. If you look back on it, MOST pundits were ridiculing Ange and you'd be hard pressed to find anyone that said Spurs would be sitting 2nd after 5 games and unbeaten. Ange has exceeded everyone's expectations so far and that is an undisputed fact, no matter what you think of the teams he's come up against.

Great stuff mind you. Hey mate, If that was aimed at my comment, I dont mean that any EPL team gives up the ghost late in the match its just that most clubs seem to go into "frantic mode" even the Reds sometimes. (Ok the Toon match was a forced change because of the red but you get my point I hope?) Some managers go four at the back and bring their full backs higher, they switch the wingers, they bring on a AM etc, etc... Not saying it doesnt work but what I like about Ange is that the same amount of chances are created throughout the whole match (apart from natural ebbs and flows of possession and momentum) and players brought on are slotted into similar roles as what goes off. Its not that scientific, pretty blunt numbers game if you ask me... Make 40 chances a game and you'll get 2-3 goals a game..... And Maddison?!?!?! Holy shit when was the last time you saw a "true #10" play in EPL? Everything, and I mean, everything goes through him, he even drops so deep to pick up the ball.... Its great to watch after so many years of hard pressing, possession and fast counter English football...Whatever happens, at least the bloke isnt going to die wondering eh? Havent been so keen for a Liverpool v Spurs match in a very very very long time.... Hope we beat them obviously but have a feeling the cagey old wog may have other ideas.....
