Well we know, no one would have called they'd be in P2 thats a given :)
Pretty normal pundits questioned him, no diff to all the goss pre Hoops and JL..
The only thing that has been fortunate has been the huge shuffling amongst many of the other Clubs (largest transfer and movements) and in the big picture the ONLY constant is Pep and City once again. (at this stage its still who's racing from P2 down.)
You can only play whats in front of you and he's come out of it damn good to date for all to see, TBH you couldn't have seen Spurs go any lower from last season for the rot has to stop sooner or later unlike United :)
There is a team that took advantage of last years club shuffling and tripped over the Top4 line somehow and look at them after 5 games.
Imagine IF AP took them with all that resource compared to TH.
I think his aussie attitude really changes peoples/players mindset.
Doesn' play the mind games like many, throws a joke in, he's so out of the usual typical euro coach, I think thats what make Pep/Klopp such good coachs, their personality and connect with their players/staff and then enrichs the supporter base, its a drug.

So far, I have to say I don't see a major difference with Spurs in the PL in the same way we witnessed the difference between Brisbane Roar and other A-League clubs at the time (class comparison aside). I wish him all the best but he's got some critical recruiting to do. Until then, there will be losses that will deflate the current bubble, with the first one coming up next game.

Apart from having to do what he's done without Harry Kane you mean? To back Richarlson & bring him on when he did and somehow win that game, shows the massive difference he's making at Spurs.

The best thing that could've happened was for Kane to depart. AP's teams are more of a collective unit spreading responsibilities - big heads or allowing the team to focus / over rely on one player aren't tolerated by Ange. He's definitely made a difference, but to cream it against the big boys, he needs a bit more unpredictable skill in his set up and the odd player that can do it. My opinion anyway.

Rumoured to be targeting Mikel Merino, a high quality Spanish cm/dm.

Kane actually wasn’t the big head who was the prob in Spudz.
Dier and a couple of others were the main cancer influence.
fyi o great one.
Oh for sure he need new recruits back for starters.

Postecoglou game is all about the system.  It requires the front 3 to work collectively in attack and defense.  It requires they do a lot of pressing. It requires flexibility in their role.  It requires complete buy-in from all the players-Kane already had one and half feett out the door.  Postcoglou wouldn't have cried in his cornflakes when Kane left, lets put it that way.

not rocket science Enzzz - you describe Klopps system perfectly since @ LFC and Dortmund, go figure.
There is Nothing unique about AP's tactics/systems, all been done before.
Its the man management that sets some apart and players buying into it.
Nothing new here.
As for key players like Kane going, happens every season you move on.

As much fun as it's been watching Ange, besides Man U (and that's arguable), they haven't played a contender yet.

He's been pretty lucky with the draw they've had an easy run in to the season start. Could have been horrible if they played a few of the big guns early.

But loving the ride so far.

3 of the first 4 away. first home game against a team they had never beaten at the new stadium. Brentford away is especially difficult. It was tricky start with banana skin games and they passed with flying colours.

Of course the litmus test will come over the next 2 weeks. But they also haven't scratched the surface just yet.

jas88 - 18 Sep 2023 11:21 AM
just needs a draw from the next two big games and then can get a run going till they play city in Dec. They should be able to beat this Chelsea team.

Yep, get through the next 2 games without a loss and they could very well go undefeated until they play Citeh in early December (notwithstanding injuries and suspension).

I wouldn't be surprised if Ange told Levy to let Kane go. Ange-Ball doesn't rely on one large focal point (i know Kyogo scored 27 goals in the league for Celtic last season, but it was still less than a quarter of the total goals, compared to Kane scoring 43% of Spurs goals). Plus Kane isn't known for his pressing.

Either was Son or Richarlison for that matter ..... I think Kane would have been a great asset to Anges system as he has proven to be an adaptable player at times, with great finishing and good technical ability... I dont disagree that maybe letting Kane go was Anges desire but I think that may have been more because of attitude or personality ... guy had one foot out of the door before Ange even got the gig.

Over the years been a few games where excited to see how Aussies go.

Liverpool 3 4 Leeds years ago (i think) when vidual said to camera after the game with shock to the interviewer when they mentioned australia

“what? This is live in Australia? Gday to all My mates in niddrie” or close enough

That was one of the last times I was really excited about seeing Aussies in the epl. Tonight is another.

Angeball badly exposed by arsenal. Spurs so obvious and predictable. It's nice to have principles but at the moment they are just presenting opportunities to Arsenal. Ange won't last past Christmas if he doesn't give up his cherished "play out the back at all costs" mantra.

Spurs equalise but persist with play out from the back madness. I don't understand it. What's the purpose of it? When the opposition knows exactly how to defend it and cuts off all the angles, why would you continue to do something when the only reliable outcome is opportunities and easy goals for the opposition. Not saying to hoof the ball every time but shouldnt' doing so sometimes cause the opposition to sit back and open up the space for playing out from the back to work?

There doesn't seem to be rhyme or reason for it other than to satisfy Ange's philosophical urges.

Well that's right. It has it's merits but at all costs sees those nasty turnovers. Bit like every Australian national team. Go long and hope for the lucky bounce in midfield from time to time.

Hannover used to insist and we once had a goal kick go out for a corner with a wayward keeper pass because we insisted on having it at the back.
