Essentially there's a few streaming partners in Oz at the moment Ten is linked to Paramount+, and I believe 9 is linked to Stan. 7 just use their own free base.

Yeah I'm just saying ten play is better then Paramount. Like Paramount they haven't even tried you have to search for live games then the bloody thing doesn't load and if it does it stuffs up

I've never had any problems with Paramount. Onya one of the few I see. In my experience P+ has been very good over the last two seasons...when I'm at home or watching on my phone (data not wifi). For reference I'm in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. App is rubbish, but I've had no issues with the live streams. However, whenever I've been away from home and the internet is just ok, P+ definitely starts to struggle. I spent some time in QLD over the break and experienced inconsistent streams. When I visit my parents (regional VIC), the stream is less than ideal. In both situations, the net wasn't bad. Everything else runs fine, HD Youtube, Netflix, Amazon, etc. It's just P+ doesn't work very well. Quality drops to garbage and the stream still has some occasional buffering issues. It's very strange.

while i don't love P+, what are the other options? Most of us would prefer Optus, but its not a realistic option. i would suggest we are stuck with each other for now.

I have no issues with P+ but others are saying they do so I'm taking that at face value that it's true. It is annoying however when everyone moans about the coverage of the A-League, the streaming, the app and channel 10. They all use this, perhaps justifiably so, to not subscribe. The problem is it really is chicken and egg. Someone has to make the first move. It's a shit product so I won't subscribe, there's no one subscribing (we have no money) so it's a shit production. (And the TV rights are worth next to nothing.) Imagine for just a minute 500 000 people subscribed at $100 a year. That's $50 million in cash straight in their pocket and a huge boost to any future valuation and negotiation. I consider my P+ subscription effectively a donation for the good of pro football in Australia. (Does anyone know how many people subscribe to P+?) It's just like fans going to a match. I won't go because it's a shit atmosphere, it's a shit atmosphere because people don't go.

Hence the rumours of them bailing I'm assuming. Edit: Just had a google myself and I came up short. Do you have a link?

AS of 23 Oct 2023. With new shows I assume the figure is higher now.. The pag below says P had 400k subs last year and at the time of publication 1.5 million, meaning a growth of 1.1 million over a year, I assume many of those would be Football folk. https://www.mi-3.com.au/index.php/23-10-2023/paramount-launch-ad-tier-world-first-shoppable-tv-while-sharpening-attribution-andParamount+ had been widely tipped to run ads following substantial growth in user numbers. Last year, Mi3 reported Paramount+ had an estimated 400,000 subscribers, this year the figure has more than tripled to 1.5 million, according to estimates by tech analysts Telsyte. This places it behind market leader Netflix (6.1 million) Amazon Prime Video (4.5 million), Disney+ (3.1 million) and Stan (2.6 million), but on par with Foxtel’s Binge and Kayo Sports.

Does this count as 1 to each, or just to Amazon?

I read that Paramount is still growing its subscription numbers, also JJ said early this year he would be negotiating the next FA media deal, and expects it to be up from the 30 million last time, he may also be the A-L needs to stay in place

If SBS didnt want it, Fox didnt want it, ABC didnt want it, 7, 9 and Optus never bid for it...... it looks like 10/Paramount is the last chance saloon for a while otherwise its lights out.

Very true, and the push on effect is if the A-L falls over re the broadcast deal, no network or streaming service will look at Australian Professional Football for a very long time.... I recall a conversation having a somewhat heated discussion with a Sydney United fan roughly 15 months ago, and he was wanting the A-L to collapse so the old NSL clubs could replace them and be broadcast on 10 and Paramount and he would not accept if the A_l fell over, broadcasters would not rush to find a Football competition replacement. For better or worst, every teir two club should hope the A-L ratees it socks off...its in everybody's interest its successful.

Home, I'm in a nice nothern sydney burb, NBN at its finest speed, late model smart tv you name it I got it. P+ and its shows/movies doesn't mean much to me, more so the wife and adult daughter, I thought to support the rare times I watch AL but more so FACup, ACL ofcourse ROOs. Many times when I go to watch a AL game it just won't load up and bom game is on, yet I know it is for I check my app and its working - this has occurred a number times, more than I wish to tolerate tbh. I then either cast it from the mobile to tv, this all give me the poops and can't figure out why the live game doesn't load. Optus Sport no worries at all loading up every single time and obviously I watch EPL every single LFC game amongst others. Anyway thats my bitch.

The APL were confident that by the end of the five-year Network Ten deal the A-Leagues would be in a stronger position when negotiating broadcast rights for the 2026-27 season and beyond. Their logic was that four extra teams, which would also provide additional capital, and a renewed excitement in the league buoyed by the relationship with Ten would lead to a more financially rewarding broadcast deal. But the partnership has been littered with shortcomings, most notably its clunky streaming platform Paramount+. The APL has also had to spend north of $10m a year on broadcast costs after outsourcing production to industry-newcomer Global Advance, who were founded in 2020. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/jan/31/a-league-expansion-2026-new-teams-updates-potentially-scrapped?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other
