+xIf there ever were a scene to indicate Australian football. Kuol nudges the ball past the charging keeper 30m out and then Milanovic hits it first time towards an open goal just left of the 5 yard box only to hit the far post and it rebounds for the keeper to gather. It really is poetic and we could all feel that he would miss it.

That Cahill double post in Kaiserslautern every day though.
Garang with some shove. Just got to stay composed as this in practice for the tournament proper. These are our vulnerable stages.

Penalty shoot-out time. Silver lining is we have dominated South Korea this game. They have barely been able to break through the middle, most of their chances coming from corners, crosses and free kicks.

Honestly. I'd rather us lose now against SK than next month because we will likely play them in the QF's. I feel comfortable if we come up against them, they struggled with our press and I think we controlled most of the game. Good preparation. First loss since Marbella against Panama.

So is Stephen Hall the next Keeper to understudy Ryan and Gauci? He seems to have good wraps.

+xSo is Stephen Hall the next Keeper to understudy Ryan and Gauci? He seems to have good wraps. In a few years, probably. When he left Adelaide in January, he was our third choice keeper so he’s got a bit of developing to do but he’s only 18 so he should play a lot for our youth national teams.

Talking to a South Korean fan who concurs that we dominated and looked more intense, faster and way better. He also ranted about SK's coach which is surprising as usually that's the one clear difference between us and countries like Japan and South Korea is coaching and game-plan. He said he doesn't know if Korea will qualify without calling everybody up which obviously clubs aren't obliged to release players. Just some added daily hopium reading.

We should have won based on the chances we had, I dont know how Milanovic missed an open goal like that.
Overall quite assuring with the talent on display that we could match them if anything we were probably the better team on the day, alot different from the senior Asian Cup where we got outplayed so its good the talent coming through could potentially improve our level in the future if there is a real succession plan in place.
Now the real thing starts next month, who is available and gets selected will be key for our chances to qualify ideally we select the best team possible but it will be hard when its a non-FIFA window but we got good depth so this will be very important.

And just like that, the Joey's team to tour Italy is announced. Unfortunately it seems they didn't get William Millwood into the team, probably the best prospect of the bunch. On the other hand they were able to get Danilo Treffiletti who has been playing for Italy for the past few months. https://www.socceroos.com.au/news/subway-joeys-start-new-world-cup-cycle-italy-camp | | | Junior Club / Member Federation

+xIn light of the recent news that the next U17 Joeys cohort will be touring Italy in April, I've decided to list a few players to keep an eye on for selection. Granted, I'm not 100% sure about the Australian/European based player ratio but I expect this to be a chance to nail down a lot of the European dual citizenship players whilst in Europe and get them amongst the system, something we haven't done and needed to in previous age-groups. This is a very exciting Joey's cohort with an eligibility of Jan 1st 2008 - Dec 31st 2010, though, it's unlikely we see any 2010 born players during this cycle. This tour will help establish a basis for the upcoming U17 Asian Cup qualifiers in October. This list only scratches the surface and lot's of talent yet to be discovered.
David Bolongi (2008) - Gold Coast Knights Israel Monga (2008) - Murray United Marcus Neill (2008) - Sunderland Noah Slunjski (2008) - Hajduk Split Danilo Treffiletti (2008) - AC Monza Gianluca Okon (2009) - Club Brugge Chris Irakoze (2009) - Adelaide United Amlani Tatu (2008) - Adelaide United Harrison Bond (2009) - RB Salzburg Younes Ibrahim (2008) - Brighton and Hove Albion
Quin MacNicol (2008) - Brisbane Roar William Millwood (2009) - Partizan Charlie Davidson (2009) - VVV-Venlo Noah Clement (2009) - Eintracht Frankfurt 7/14. 50%. I'm surprised how many Australian based players they're bringing over.

just watched the replay
very impressive performance! Shame about the penalty shoutout loss. If we have circati and triantis we win that game so easily. South korea were able to get some euro players, including one who played 21 games for celtic, so we should too
We definitely had chances to win it, one shot went wide, another hit the post and another just missed the sliding shot

That performance makes irankunda equal to brook and milanovic for goal contributions. So i think irankunda worked his way into my olyroo squad today. Tilio we know his last a league season had 15 goal contributions
So i think my wingers for april are g kuol, tilio, milanovic, irankunda with brook unlucky to miss out

Great game by Irankunda today. I wonder if this hat-trick and 9.7 Fotmob performance will sway Vidmar and the Olyroos staff for Irankunda's consideration at the U23 Asian Cup. If he does end up being selected this may be his last game at home for Adelaide also next week might be his last game in the A-League assuming they don't make the top 6. I assume they'll double down on him not coming but it might be a tough pill to swallow.

Sudden resurgence of injured Olyroos... Ryan Teague back in Victory's squad today. Nieuwenhof said to be ready for Hearts next game. Marco Tilio ahead of schedule and said to be back this week and Mo Toure's sudden re-emergence into football after months off. Timed to perfection!

Countries are starting to release their U23 teams with all of them currently releasing provisional squads to be reduced to 23 players.
Specifically, Indonesia released their squad and it has a few notable inclusions such as Ferdinan, Sulaeman, Hubner, Struick and Jenner. They all played against us at the Asian Cup and we're all very good compared to their older senior players. One notable omission is defender Baggott who was also very good against us. Just pointing out this as we face Indonesia second in the group and to not underestimate their ability at this level.
South Korea has also listed their final squad with Yang Hyun-Jun from Celtic and Bae Jun-Ho from Stoke both participating. Confused at how Yang is released from Celtic but we can't get either Triantis or Nieuwenhof from the SPL? Almost identical squad from the WAFF tournament for Korea so we know the level roughly.
Seems that Australia will release their squad anytime in the next few days and I wonder if they will bring a provisional squad or not? I'd imagine they just announce the final 23 players outright. Should be interesting.
🙏🙏 Please let me see Irankunda on that list 🙏🙏

Nothing, absolutely nothing stops a club buying an African player with concerns about AFCON. Blessing in disguise some of those shining lights at WAFF can get in. Milanovic is on fire currently. Irankunda is in the oddest of wedges. No idea what's up there. He must be picked.
