+x+x+x+xMo Toure has been the best player but has been a bit selfish but is a threat which is all you can ask. We have no threats on the wings. Segecic and Velupillay aren't creating. The midfield are losing every duel and the defence is rushing. When Tourre got in behind on the left and cut back to himself then shot there looked to be two or three teammates totally free of defenders and the keeper. If he had not been selfish it was a clear goal to put the pass through. When Indonesia get near the goal they are looking for a pass or a shot. Team work for goals seems beyond us. Toure is a selfish player for sure but he is also our only threat, can just hope he passes next time because if we take him off we have nothing going forward. Aside from his general attacking ability and threat he was fantastic at receiving the ball with his back to goal and a defender sharing his boots. His ability to hold the player off and control the incoming pass, then run on with it was excellent and created so much opportunity. I always have some reservations when I watch him play (his movement can seem a bit heavy and slow to wind up and his decision making suspect in proximity to goal), but that does not take away from what he brings to the side. I think a lot of our good young players show great skills and abilities when they are in their regular teams with composed heads around them. When they are all thrown together, and never in the same side twice in a row, they become ineffective and disjointed and lack the composure they have in domestic leagues under as much pressure. So many times tonight individual players thought it necessary to take on two and three defenders in a flurry of activity when more simple team passing would have given us the same progression but with control. Too hectic and denying the players the time and space they are capable of playing in and should be playing in. Yeah he's good, apart from the fact he can't hit the target to save his life!!! He could've had 4 goals this tournament if he didn't sky every opportunity that came his way. Not really sure what he was doing with that shot with his left foot either, that was an absolute howler of an attempt. We really missed Botic at #9.

Finishing was a feature of his game in his cameos for adelaide united as well as the olyroos a year ago. Seems to have deserted him

In the WAFF tournament that we finished 2nd behind SK. Even drew 2-2 against them only lost in the penalty shootout. What happened to the Olymroos now ??? Feel like we can go for another hour and still not scoring None of these players got final product. Even the Koul brothers are hopeless.

The corner kick for both games has been very disappointing. No ideas why everyone standing so far away from the goal and made it very predictable for the opposition.

Not to mention the mini qatar tournament and the maurice novello tournament It is a different skill managing a team to play well when it doesnt matter compared to when everything is on the line. The same player can show dazzling technique one moment then cant hit the side of the bar. We've seen players do well all season only to have 2 left feet in a grand final. Same for the 90s roos who looked great in friendlies and confed cup You need that managerial experience. Arnie was a choker but got advice from wayne bennet about who to prep for must win games. He then became a world beater in such games for club and country

+xThe next game between Jordan and Qatar, we can still qualify regardless of the outcome but the best outcome is Jordan winning. In the end, it's going to come down to the final match-day. If Jordan win against Qatar:Australia needs to beat Qatar Jordan need to beat Indonesia Final result: Jordan: 7 Points Australia: 4 Points Indonesia: 3 Points Qatar: 3 Points If Qatar win against Jordan:
Australia needs to beat Qatar by multiple goals for goal difference Jordan need to beat Indonesia Qatar: 6 points Australia: 4 points Jordan: 4 points Indonesia: 3 points If Jordan and Qatar draw:
Australia needs to beat Qatar by multiple goals Jordan and Indonesia need to draw Qatar: 6 points Australia: 4 points Jordan: 4 points Indonesia: 4 points If Jordan Win against Qatar:
Australia beat Qatar by multiple goals Jordan beat Indonesia. The best outcome is Jordan wins both games and we come second. Regardless of the result of Jordan/Qatar we need to win against Qatar and Indonesia CAN'T win. If Indonesia then they're through regardless. So we are basically betting on who loses out of Jordan and Qatar. If it is a tied then it is a head to head b4 a goal difference isn't?

+x+x+x+x+x+xIf The Olympics are so great and important than the better players should have spoken to their clubs years ago to try and come to and arrangement. We got zero of that cohort. Sure, the clubs could block it on a whim but better liaising and consideration might have gotten some of them. Olympic football is seen as a nuisance by clubs. I remember Ferguson was livid about his players being asked for it. A lot of the players are injured. Circati is barely in the Australian system, only joined last year and Irankunda is mutual agreement which was stupid. Volpato has never played for Australia only would possibly for the Olympics. Robertson Nieuwenhof Tilio Bos are all injured. Triantis and yazbek not available too brook injured Triantis recently moved clubs so can hardly get years of admission in advance. If he were still at Sunderland than yes he probably would be here. Yazbek doesn't make much of a difference in this team imo. Yazbek literally set up Iredale to score in a WC qualifier!! Yeah he did but he just isn't that much better than the options we have, he isn't going to make us world beaters but some of the other missing midfielders would significantly improve us. If we have this this team playing tonight, we flog them: Beach Peupion. Triantis. Circati. Bos Nieuwenhof. Robertson Volpato. Irankunda. Milanovic Botic.

The best scenario is Qatar to beat Jordan by many goals so they can rest their players in the final game against us.
And hope Jordan to beat Indonesia which is possible.

Qatar take the lead. If they win, it's going come down to goal difference between us, Jordan or Indonesia. Or Indonesia wins and go through or Qatar just beat us and we go out.

The best is Jordan to beat both Qatar and Indonesia so we don't have to deal with goal difference. Every other result ends in goal difference or us going out. Realistically, our best option was to win both our games.

True but i doubt we get euro players going forward at the u23 asian cup The best we can hope for is a squad of players well above average for the a league but not standing out so much they have been picked up by europe (basically this squad) We have improved our depth and the technical quality of each age group, but unless the a league miraculously starts paying higher salaries to retain better players slighlty longer, the only way we improve is through a better coach

+xJordan equalise. LETS GOOO! Thinking now, I think a draw may be a better result because relying on goal difference may be better than relying on Jordan to beat Indonesia if Jordan win against Qatar. So if they draw it'll be Qatar: 4 points Indonesia: 3 points Jordan: 2 points Australia 1 point Final match-day: We would need to win obviously and then whatever the result between Indonesia/Jordan (win/lose/draw) it'll come down to goal difference between us and Qatar or us and Indonesia. That means we have more control over our destiny with goal difference, meaning we can score more goals against Qatar to make it through. Otherwise, if either Jordan or Qatar win tonight then we NEED Indonesia to lose or draw. They can't win. At least with the draw option Indonesia can win and it goes to goal difference.

The first tiebreaker apparently is Head to Head and not goal difference. So we need Indonesia to lose regardless. As simple as that.

FUCK QATAR SCORED in the last minute. In fact the Ref had played an extra 4 minutes of stoppage time on top of the 10 minutes.

Only good thing is Qatar are through and may rest players or not play as intensely and Jordan will be fighting for their lives to beat Indonesia.

That last goal that Qatar scored a header from a free kick. None of our players can cross and can head like them. No one can score for us in this pathetic squad unfortunately.

If we bear Qatar 3:1 and Jordan win 2:0 it appear it'll come down to cards and we should be OK in that aspect.
