Pens it is. 05 feeling this. It's been a tussle and Georgia meet with their destiny while Greece will be so desperate to make it.

Georgia win on pens and it's so 2005. Just wow. Bedlam. Commiserations to Greece as the Euros is a special thing for them. Georgia led early in the shootout then missed one but recomposed. The joy in the stands is a nice football story.

So people can enjoy watching fantastic players, so young players can learn off them and so we can do better in Asian tournaments yes

Ukraine jump both South Korea and Australia. More pressing is Australia is now 0.06 rankings points off South Korea. That seems incredibly close but I don't now how the calculations from the final 2 qualifiers would work.

Provided both Korea and Australia win the final 2 qualifiers, then Korea will stay ahead - they will gain more ranking points / lose less ranking points by winning / matching results than us due to having higher ranked opponents.

Wonder if anyone explained why we needed 31 goals, they kind of seem to think we were just jerks haha

Anyone have the full 90 minutes of it?

Arzani has been burned for pace by both Old and Paine for Nix in the semi.

Not sure if both Nix players are exceptionally quick?

Hopefully both Circati and Nieuwenhof  are available and fit for the next Socceroo WCQs.

Yazbek apparently has not been playing in Norway. Pertinently,  Nieuw impressed me far more than Yazbek in the one game they both played for the Young Socceroos in lead up games to the Qatar U23 Olympic Qualifiers.

After watching the game against South K in the Asian Cup, it was depressing to see the Socceroos comprehensively outplayed despite the result on the scoreboard. This doesn't happen at U23 level between South K and Aus ATM.

We need more rapid ball circulation, or ball movement, from the  Socceroo front 6. A lot more of the players in the Socceroo U 23s can move the  ball more quickly than the senior Socceroos - Nieuw, Jake Hollman, Valadon, Youlley, Segecic, Teague, Robertson, Brook, Ivanovic, Toure, Jelecic - come to mind.

There are probably more U 23s I can't think of ATM too.

For whatever reason, Arzani now lacks the pace for the wing at elite level, but his ball handling is still high class. Much feeling is that he is should be playing now as a 10.

Folami has the same issue but more pronounced - nothing enough pace for the flank.

Apparently due to our lack of midfield options, Arnie has been discussing with tottenham about bringing Jedinak back from retirement and into the fold again as a player.

...just kidding, but I wonder how he's going as assistant coach and if he's responsible for all the set piece goals they've given up

Makes sense.

I honestly can't think of an Australian player with better ball skills and vision than Arzani. Number 10 is probably his future.

I think it's right to raise and discuss these topics. Slater does the writing but Newscorp social media managers post things in a very bad light. Too many clowns online (like we didn't know it before)

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-13512091/Robbie-Slater-Socceroos-neglected-broadcast-Ten-Matildas-world-cup-qualifier-Football.html

My google search said this was from a few days ago. Alas, it's from 2014. I don't recall this:

This issue is Slater is roaring nowadays but was at Foxtel when they let it all slide away. Yes, he wasn't in power to stop this but it's just a bit too convenient for him.

Some interesting chatter on how the A League was nudged from station 505 to 507 on Fox which meant hotels, care homes and others please couldn't get 507 and therefore no A League. Some bloke writing to Adam Peacock about how his father is nursing wasn't able to access it and more needed to be down at how Fox would reposition the A League and let it fade out.

Didn't Foxtel have exclusive live rights to all Australia's WCQ games for both 2010 and 2014 (and maybe 2018) when Slater was working for them, with no FTA live coverage at all during that time (and maybe not even any FTA delayed replays for some games?). I can clearly remember watching the final 2014 WCQ v Iraq (a home game where Kennedy scored the winner) on a couple hour delay on FTA, as I didn't have Foxtel.

Its human nature that people jump to conclusions whats reported and by whom.
There is always 2 sides to every storey as they say, sometime even 3.
I have nothing against either of them tbh - Foster though is a bit of a legend in his own lifetime kind of angle whereas the other wasn't called Bulldog for nothing.
Maybe Slater is right re the Tildas vs Roos favouritism - who knows.
I really wish there wasn't any of this kind of talk for they are equals no, in this day and age, thats the way I see them, OUR NT's.

Depends on the opponents, but would this be so bad?

Circati  Souttar  Burgess Rowles

Bos is great at LB. Degenek was deployed for excellent defensive cover at the WC. Circati is a CB but maybe he can do a top job there and keep that flank clean.

Starting to formulate a team with these younger guys. For the near future you have Circati, Irankunda, Bos and Robertson who all can be starters and Yengi is really roaring for that starting 9 spot.

18 years to the day that Australia beat Japan in Kaiserslautern.

Like the second goal for United against Bayern, I had run up to my parents' room to say we'd scored. Low and behold a quick second was scored by Cahill during a repeat of my exact actions 7 years before.

Felt good after the early attacks then judt nail-biting stuff.
