+xArgentina level with the last kick of the game with no more than 3 blocks, 2 of which hit the woodwork. Bottles and cups flood the pitch as do some Moroccan fans who get pushed away to prevent any violence. Streets will be dangerous post game. Did they just announce that after the players left the field a VAR check ruled out the goal? Players will return and finish the final three minutes of the match. The betting companies would've paid out the result already hahaha!

I don't think the match ever finished, there were fans on the pitch after the goal and players getting smoke bombs and all sorts thrown at them so they all left the field.

The live score websites say "complete". What a way to start the tournament.

So, there's a bit of confusion as to whether the match between Argentina and Morocco has actually concluded or whether the game is currently suspended. It has been over an hour since the fixture concluded in dramatic and controversial circumstances at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in St-Etienne. Morocco led 2-1 and were on track for an upset as the game ticked into the 16th minute of injury-time when Boca Juniors midfielder Cristian Medina headed in after the ball had twice come back off the crossbar. That late goal sparked an angry reaction from some Morocco supporters, who threw bottles and flares onto the field with others invading the pitch. We understand that the referee postponed the game three minutes before full-time and they are now going to resume the match in an empty stadium.

Never seen anything like it! Argentina and Morocco come out after an hour and the ref blows his whistle, walks to the VAR and takes the goal back. It was indeed offside. They had to flee due to the projectiles.
Argentina were adamant it was 2:2 and their faces dropping was hilarious. They push on for the 3 unplayed mins but Morocco hold on to win.
NZ defeat Guinea 2:1 in a week deserved win.

Argentina manager trying to get his officials away who are acosting the ref. FFS there needs to be immediate bans for that. It's not simply asking a question when it'd squaring people up and blocking their path.

NZ Guinea with a terrible crowd. Wouldn't expect much to be fair. Still a work day and away from Paris. Parisians don't seem to care about the Olympics anyway. Maybe a fever will pick up after Friday but some of these football matches should've been played in smaller grounds.

Slight annoyance with games overlapping. Lots of added time.
Japan give Paraguay a football lesson. Paraguay down a man for the best part of an hour. 5:0
Iraq beat Ukraine 2:1. Iraq plucky while Ukraine typical of teams underestimating such an Asian side and being complacent in their play.
Uzbekistan accounted themselves well in a 2:1 loss to Spain.
Dominican Rep played some good football in a goalless draw against Egypt.
NZ with a well deserved 2:1 win of Guinea who had their moments of flair.
A multi bet with these results would've been juicy.
France have such a decent looking side. USA have gone big on experience at centre back.

Wow - never a dull moment that’s for sure. I haven’t seen anything due to travelling but look forward seeing the highlights. Great spill over since Copa by the sound of it. Trust football kicking off the Olympics with a bang ❗️ Bad enough the rape scenario and then the Aussie team officials being robbed on the streets.

Their national anthem was certainly loudly booed. Was absolute chaos when they equalised in the 16th min of added time, Moroccan fans were on the pitch throwing all sorts at the Argentina players. Then the goal gets ruled out by VAR 2 hours later with no fans in the stadium.......

Have we ever heard of a games last minutes being played 2hrs laters with that little time left and VAR2 then makes its presence felt. Might as well have looked at it after FT and be done with it, what a farce.

We're affording Germany way too much space. Not marking tight and spread far along the pitch.

Pathetic corner defending. 1:0 Germany. How can a lofty ball just be allowed to hang? Carpenter pulls away from the scorer.

It's just so flat and static from Australia. Too slow and predictable. No one running onto the ball. Germany have players moving all the time and the ball is doing the work. We can even sort tight passing.

Very disjointed reflected in the lack of competitive games since February. As for goal, zonal defending all looking at the ball and all square on (basic stuff for 10 year old).

Should be 2. Stuffing around at the back only to block the shot. It's just so dire. Sick of many of the players who've got a blank cheque and Gustavsson is just done.

2:0 off another corner. Utter garbage. Standing still allowing the opponent to pick the gaps.

Seriously.... Freier with a good run but to be blocked at the end. Ball falls in box and our own player basically murders her. Bunch of individuals out there.

+xA tournament too far for nearly half the squad I'm so disgusted at the complacency. If the coach isn't going to give the second string a go to keep the regular starters on their toes then we may as well forget it. The starters are so complacent with good publicists. Oh there's 3:0. Carpenter and Catley way off the pace.

Completely outclassed. Ive said before that the Socceroos are probably closer to the best teams in the world than The Matildas are. Our historic record against USA, Germany, Sweden etc is horrific. There just hasnt been the depth below those teams so The Matildas get further in tournaments and seem a lot better.

A 4th goes in but flag up. Deserved a goal that cross. Can't wait for the excuses.
