To me it is not that we conceded - it is how we conceded. We should be able to defend set pieces better than that. We were also lucky not to have lost by quite a bit more.

Germany are a top footballing country. Losing to them is not a failure - it is a reality.

We should be playing much better both individually and as a team though - that is what bothers me.

The defending was horrific, just how easily Brand could step past players, if she was shooting well, she would have had 5. Players like Rodman and Swanson will absolutely destroy us in the final match. Gonna need to put a huge score on Zambia, will need luck to go through with 3 points and a bad goal difference.

A week is a long time in football so a year is massive. This time last year Germany were rock bottom. They've somewhat recovered but yesterday was a big surprise in how well drilled they were. I'll say Australia were immensely worse than Germany being good. Australia hardly turned up.

to me, even watching some of the best backlines defending set pieces you see they switch off or ball watching.
The goal from running open play could have been stifled, good ol train wreck Ellie wasn't reading the play, was no where near the left side running winger, easy space to attack wide open the rest was history, nice low ball across the 6yard box nicely put away tap in.
IMO Tillys are over rated, the hype and rightly so far exceeds the play putting aside the gaffa.
