+x+x+xIt's just terribly officiating by the French ref. Early calls against against that were blatantly wrong. The red card was right in the shit modern rules of rugby but the attacker dips his head into the shoulder. yeah would take a miracle here. In a 14 minute match bad calls matter a lot and we had em 2 matches in a row red card was fair though in the modern game and a brain explosion Hate these modern rules. I get player safety but it makes it harder for defenders. Plenty of times the attacker dips and is rewarded. Just gutted. They taunted with those late tries. Conversion kick was a bit hasty. Had the distance. gee if that conversion landed....

annoying thing about 7s is it seems like every game is decided by who get the crappy ref calls
the game is too short, so little like things can be everything

I think the pitch needs to be shrunk, 2 player added and a bit more time added. Scrums and penalty option calls can take up to 60 seconds.

Big swimming ahead.
M 400m: Just get the win. If both Aussies can land on podium that's a bonus. W 400m: Really want a gold. Don't think Perkins will medal. Bronze for Titmus will suck. M 4x100 relax: Surprising top seed from heats. Got to try and win in now despite not having won since 2000. W 4x100 relay: Pet event. I'll take a shock silver here provided we get gold in the other 3 events.
Josh Yong finished strongly in his heat but will be pressed to make the final.

Silver in 400m. Germany win. Sam Short stuffed that one. Typical our world championship golds don't convert to Olympic golds. Peaked at wrong time.

+xTitmus smashed it Sadly no repeat of the tokyo celebration Was waiting for it. McIntosh was lingering. Like watching the horses, the swimmer speed graphic ruins the excitement for me. You know what to expect in a few seconds time. It's nicer to watch and try to anticipate it at face value. 400m men's was hardly a shoe in so silver is great but that final spurt had me hoping. I knew the German swimmer was good but the fact he was disappointed with no world record shows his ambition. First German men's gold for 36 years.

The South Korean who got 3rd is coached by an Australian who was criticised by the Australian team for hoping his athlete would win. Ridiculous response. May the best swimmer and coach win. The idiots at Newscorp posted he'd missed the final after finishing 4th in the heat. No doubt those plebs think the top 2 make the final or they're incapable of reading and calculating times.

I think a lot of our ais coaches get poached. Coaching has always been an emphasis of our sporting strategy

+xTitmus with gold. Such a good swim. Was glad to get a win. Broncs lost big this morning. Matildas poor the other day, wallabies unlucky, diving unlucky. Been a rough day in sport haha

All evens out and every nation has it but that's 3 close bronzes lost today. Any standard dive would've been enough, the rugby conversion attempt plus stupidity and a shit ref made it unreachable, Sam Short a very close 4th and not aggressive enough.

A relief to win the women's relay. USA and China much closer than usual. Still a very calculated display and an Olympic record.

First 2 legs of men's relay with stuff ups. Way too close to rope. Australia 7th after 2 but claw back got silver. A bit disappointing but this event hasn't been good for ages.

+x+x+xFinally got to watch the full replay for the Tillies. We were not that bad - just not good where and when we needed to be. We were flattered heavily by the scoreline. Rarely a chance to score, but the last ten minutes we were trashed by the German team - with several brilliant opportunities for them to score and just missing the ball with a lunge by narrow margins or just missing the goal with our keeper beaten. Three more goals would not have been unfair the way they combined and attacked. To me, Foord is not a striker and Gustarssol set us up to fail in the front third. I would not be surprised to hear that he decided the game was basically unwinnable and he saved our attacking legs for the rest of the tournament - not a bad thing necessarily if that was deliberate. Taking off Raso, who creates chances, and bringing on Heyman supported by Van Egmond is another wasted set of subs. No point to it at all as Van Egmond does not apply meaningful pressure, does not have the speed to make space, and could only feed Heyman if the German players all fell over. They were a well organised and skilled opponent and very solid at the back. Several times we ran into our own players, passed into our own players or contested the same ball. Just not a cohesive team. I think our poor touch is responsible for most of that - with players knocking the ball a couple of metres further than intended then having two Tillies try to recover when it rolls into space. We needed our backline to be much more resilient and beaten by a quality opponent than have them all looking at each other time and again while Germany exposed our inability to close off the goal area. Yes I know it is childish, but Janina Minge? What a name! Got to love that German sense of humour. We are not out of the tournament, with many positives in our general play against a very good opponent. Hopefully Germany beat everyone and it is up to us to make good on our next two games. Where's the full replay? 9now? 9Now - Football - Latest Episodes Thanks. I checked the other day and it wasn't there.

Just saw the Iraqi dive to win a penalty against Ukraine, absolutely unconscionable. Also shows the Europeans are prepared for the fakery and cheating from the ME teams. Dunno how the ref fell for that one.

Jess fox with her first gold
Brilliant work and well deserved after being number 1 all her life
No interviews before her win this time. Last time i heard her really talk herself up. Confidence is fine but i reckon u put a lot of pressure on yourself when you do that and can underperform (same with english football or nsw state of origin team).
Apparently she could win 3 golds this olympics. Fingers crossed!
