Thankss Rooster.
Some good news then. Burns probably won't get an extension with Griffiths signed for next season. Or shouldn't anyway.

Indeed Rostyn Griffiths has been confirmed. Though I thought the article said till end of this season? :-k If it's end of next season - even better! =d> The Ryan Edwards thing - that's not handled the best indeed. Atleast wait till he's back from Oman, bring him into the office - explain the scenario then send the letter to Reading? Common decency. Don't like the idea of 'squad conflict' being leaked out there as an after the fact excuse. C'mon! The facts ARE in the club's favour, point of view - Once the Serbian came in the squad balance changed and room tighter - less freeer spots and the loan signings game time will be significantly reduced. It's logical. As Brewer said too, Glory have other young boys, all competing for every less game time. It's only logical - but please common decency and sort it out with the player in person, present the scenario and due process! SausageMahoney wrote:ive never understood why so many people que at gate 3. gate 1 has more ticketing and entry options and ive never had a problem when arriving 30mins or so before kick off. so times it takes up to 15mins but never anymore than that. ive got a membership these days so only really experience this when brining a non member friend. with the payment options these days of monthly debits its really worthwhile to get a membership. Sausage - Gate 3 is actually the gate facing the CBD. My bro, I and MANY, MANY punters actually walk from the CBD, Perth Station and what not, believe me! So that's a fair portion of people traffic and hence they lining up at the closest Gate 3 - the first gate in view when arriving at the ground! Edited by GloryPerth: 23/1/2014 06:41:22 PM

Guys please notify when there's the next Glory Fan Forum. Last time most of us missed out due to varying reasons, but next time is a must show. Appreciate all your anecdotes - Clearly the gates processing issue is a biggy and needs addressing. I'm sure the club may try to a degree, but with fan voice, anecdotes behind they may start to realise, understand, just how big it may be.
Bov's anecdote about the old days is interesting too. Heard complaints about TicketTek in the past too - But would it be too drastic to change Ticket operators or go it alone again?
A balance must be struck - something must and surely CAN be done, to work around this. Sage invests soo much, but some of his investments have been 'badly targetted'! Heck - forget fn Marquees - spend a fraction of that working on improving the gate scenario with Allia, Town of Vincent or whoever!
You've built it, and the punters want to come - LET THEM IN!
BTW I'm thinking now Bovs and co - NO WONDER Glory had such big crowds, BACK IN THE DAY! You just letting them pay by cash, instant tickets at the gate, and no wonder you get crowds of 14, 15... 18k!

Had heard on the grapevine that squad members weren't happy with R.Edwards and wanted him gone a few days back.
Unsurprising that the club tried to wash their hands of it they way they did, I don't really expect any better of them at present.

Completely agree, barring extreme circumstances (deathbead, fighting youssif hersi on your boat in somali waters, on a one way trip to Mars) all supporters should try to get into the next one given what has transpired so far this season. Both sides of all issues, get a good debate going about the conduct and direction of the club.

Edited by f1dave: 23/1/2014 06:57:41 PM Is "squad members" code for the Jacob Burns crew? Or is Redwards p***ed at how his dad was treated and acting up? Guess we won't know for sure. In any case, despite my disgust at how things have been managed (and still seem to be managed) at the club, it makes sense to move Redwards on, as a loan player and son of a coach with whom the club has had an acrimonious split.

We revel in Rostyn and his welcoming message via the member's mail! Hopefully natural evolution takes it's course and Griffiths establishes himself at DM at the expense of Burns or McGarry. C'mon Lowe, don't take the chicken route - put him in there and bench under-performers and what not! They want to release loanee Ryan Edwards, because, 'technically' his role will be reduced with the new signings... Nagai was released inpart because Glory's demand for his services had lessoned. If Burns and some others are seeing out their last days, then it's only logical the players who will take Glory into next season, aswell as this one, are given a good run. Glory are instigating these squad changes, Serbian #10, Rostyn Griffiths in etc... as clearly the team needed improving in these areas and so that's what they're doing. The Serbian and Rostyn are signings into next season too, something which some currently on the roster, are not, yet, like Burns FC, McGarry, Cernak and some others. The latter three have shown, this season, that they don't offer enough to take Glory forward. It's made clearer every week. The issue is Lowe is only interim, but he's building and even shaping, this team, already, but he or whoever takes the full regime, can't really 'finish the job' till they have full status and the green light is lit. But there's the same kind of mid-season limbo we saw under Ian Ferguson, with more players signed and some let go, but others on the periphery remaining. Squads of struggling teams always seem to be in a transitional mess at this time of the season! Iridium1010 wrote:Quote:Jason Brewer @PGFC_CEO Jan 21 @au_sesquip was over 2,500 walk ups. Need to also encourage more memberships as alternative. Sesquip is AndyToddElbow;o? Edited by iridium1010: 23/1/2014 09:17:45 PM The thing is Brewer - I have a membership, but we want to bring along friends or family who can't confirm till late or what not - far from alone here - That's the very thing the club would encourage, fans bringing in more potential fans - So he is right to take it up with the stadium, capacity and efficiency needs to be drastically improved! Telling people to buy on-line is the standard response and indeed, but that culture can take time and again with the scenarios that create walk ups - most would be late decision makers and 'people late to the party' so to speak anyway. Yeah, maybe those who aren't so organised CAN 'wait a little' but again, not to that extent - the processing and capacity needs to be greater to allow with such a scenario or even worse! Be as accessible, accommodating within reason - Glory want more fans and the fans are clearly there - the bridge between the divide can't be too far and must be narrowed. Stadiums/clubs give out FREE TICKETS to encourage such 'walk ups'/turn outs but Glory have them coming anyway! It needs to be addressed soon otherwise those queues and that demand will shrink quick on the back of the dreaded 'bad word of mouth'! And there sure were some grumbles in the queue, that evening, including from those in Glory shirts turning back to their cars! Edited by GloryPerth: 24/1/2014 03:09:18 AM

Quote:The passion that drives Lowe
If you ever see Perth coach Kenny Lowe sitting back in a chair on the sideline, relaxed as he takes it all in, you'll know Glory is ruling the world
Until then, expect him to remain very animated as he drives his mostly-young team to get things right.
Lowe is a television cameraman's dream because of his passion - the veins nearly popping out of his neck as he screams a message to a player and the running fist-pump when his team scores an important goal.
But he would like us to know it isn't a case of the coach putting on a show. It might look like good theatre, but it's all about substance.
"I've got to calm down a little bit," Lowe says with a laugh when asked about his often extroverted sideline behaviour.
"You've got to be careful it doesn't turn into a caricature instead of a character, if you know what I mean.
"We've got a young, young team and sometimes they're not quite in the correct position or not quite executing something that we spoke about and you're trying to get your message out there.
"There's 10 or 12 thousand people in the crowd screaming and if you're a shrinking violet your message isn't going to get across.
"Ideally, you hope your message gets across in the training ground environment and you can just sit there with a nice, big, fat cigar in your mouth and not have to do anything all game, but I didn't have the luxury of the pre-season.
"I came in halfway through the season with a lot of young boys in the team and other boys out injured, and you've got 10 or 12 games to stay in a job.
"So I guess you don't want to look back and say 'well, I could have done a bit more to stay in the job'. I guess you do everything you can.
"Everyone's got a different way during the game."
Lowe took over at Perth when Alistair Edwards was sacked as coach after 10 rounds.
He is the interim coach until the end of the season, with a decision to be made then on whether he gets the job beyond that.
Since Lowe took over, Perth have won two games, drawn two and lost one, and were in sixth position entering the weekend round.
They will play Western Sydney Wanderers at Pirtek Stadium on Sunday.
Lowe says he is a naturally animated person but there is much more to him than that.
"That's my character, but there is always substance," he says.
"I want to stay as coach beyond this season and, in the short term, if I need to do that to get certain things out there to certain people on the pitch, I'll do it.
"I'd love to be able to just sit there and watch the boys go around, like (Brisbane Roar coach) Mike Mulvey, you know.
"You want to get to the stage where you've got the best team in the country. You aspire to getting your team to the level of Roar and the Wanderers, probably the top two teams."
So what is Lowe's coaching philosophy?
"That's easy," he says. "Score more goals than anybody else, concede less goals than anybody else and keep everybody happy. That's your philosophy.
"How you achieve that depends on the cattle you've got, on the type of environment you find yourself in and how much time you've had to spend with the players.
"(Adelaide coach) Josep Gombau wants to go about things a certain way and he has communicated that.
"I guess the big thing is, if you come out and say you want to play a certain way and then you find out you haven't got the cattle to do it that way, then you really struggle, because then you have to say 'hang on a second, I can't do that'.
"I think the best way to go about it is to just go in, try and win more games than you lose while you assess your players and decide what the best way is to play with those guys, get a two or three-year contract - or five-year, if the owner is really generous - and then try and build a team that suits the way you want to play.
"It's wonderful, everyone says they want to play like Barcelona, yeah, it's great, but if you haven't got the best five midfielders in the world you aren't going to be able to do that."
Ideally, then, how does Lowe want Glory to play, eventually?
"I just want to play an entertaining brand of football that people want to come to the stadium and see and don't want to leave the stadium," he said. "That's the best way to describe it.
"You always want to be better, you always want to improve things. I think anybody who says they're quite happy with where they're at are at risk of getting run over.
"If you stand still, you'll be out the door, so you're never satisfied. If anyone ever says yes, they are satisfied, then they're lying, or they'll be out of a job within three or four months."
Perth has a delicate balance of very young players and veteran players, with a few in-between. From a distance, it looks like that could be a difficult mix to coach, but Lowe says it isn't.
"No, it's the same game, the rules don't change for anyone," he says.
"At the end of the day, the jobs on the pitch are exactly the same whether you're 16 or 60.
”As long as you've got clarity within your requirements and people understand exactly what they need to do, there's no greyness, there's no fuzziness. It's black or white. It's very, very easy to understand.
"They've just got to execute what you ask them to do. And afterwards they can actually look back and see that it is black or white, as long as there's clarity, and that comes from the level of coach."
Lowe says he would love to coach Glory beyond this season, if that is how it all works out. But if it doesn't work out that way, then so be it.
"I'm enjoying it and I think I'm good at what I do," he says.
"Ultimately, if there's a future for me in this job at Perth, great. If there's not, Tony (Sage, the Glory owner) will decide that.
"If someone else thinks I've done a decent job at Perth and wants to give me a job, fantastic. We'll see where it all goes.
"I've come in with my eyes wide open. If I don't get it (the Perth job), I'm not going to break down and cry. I'll go back to engineering and move on or maybe get a coaching job somewhere else if someone fancies me.
"I'm just going to have a ball while I'm here."

Nice to see Brewer communicating with fans. Indeed, the young players should still see good opportunity, it's just as we all speculate/hope, the players the new signings replace are more the under-performing veterans who's contracts are nearing their end or what not. What logic is there to appointing Mark Harvey to the board - WHAT LOGIC?! BTW Why was/is Benny Elias appointed to the board too? Atleast present us with the logic?! hotrod wrote:Iridium1010 wrote:I sense another Fergie.
Well they were both assistant coaches under Dave Mitchell. Don't wish for something you might not want. Woh you are right! Ah heck, you're scaring us!! :o From within, the wolf in sheep's clothing, Trojan Horse, under the guise of bringing through youth, or what not - Mitch/Fergie-era, back with a vengeance, just as Jacob Burns FC ordered?! Let's hope not! "He's after results, that's his 'tactical approach'" and "He can always go back to engineering". Not so inspiring in some ways - especially from a guy who seeks to gain the job FT, or you'd think so. But then again, the bar for the job - 'Getting results' seems the mantra again, never mind the young players stuff, so he'll get the job. Ali Edwards under-utilised the VISA quota for good reason. Now it's chocked back up again - perhaps due to need, but also due to the under-performance or failure/lack of impact, of expense Antipodean veterans lead by Burns FC, Smeltz, McGarry, Dodd and what not. Some of these blokes who were supposed to star with, lead this team - including literally, instead cede responsibility elsewhere. So THAT'S why Glory HAVE TO bring in the VISA 'ring-ins' due to the failure of the like above! Edited by GloryPerth: 25/1/2014 08:01:58 PM

no surprises here mate. Its now common knowledge that Sage prefers to occupy roles within the club with friends and family (Lucy) rather than suitably skilled personnel who would take the club forward. That's exactly why we are what we are. Edited by Straight Bat: 25/1/2014 08:30:52 PM
