The big announcement is the Long Distance Derby Cup

If this is it, then seriously, WTF?????? #-o

Inventing cups is one way to get trophies into the cabnet.

Have they actually announced 'big news?' This just comes under news on their twitter so i doubet it's the announcement.

FFA appear to being going cool on the guest player proposal, wonder who has gotten into their ear.

If that other club hasn't come up with the idea, then it's not a good idea.

Seems strange, given they relaxed the rule from 10 to 14 weeks.

I suppose someone might be suggesting that a guest stint for Keogh involves us paying him money that we couldn't pay him under the table last year? I seem to recall people saying when Keogh left that 'he would be back'. Perhaps FFA smell a rat?

From my understanding initial response from FFA was positive but that has since changed and trying to find out why.

Probably because it's Glory playing by the rules and not Victory having the rules changed so they can play by them.

The FFA are in a state of confusion trying to work out what sneaky shit Glory are up to.

I mean seriously, what is the use of a guest stint if it can't be used?

What is the exact wording of the rules?

This is soooo disappointing on so many levels.

First there was the announcement of Glory looking to bring home two young Aussie guns from OS.

Then the trialling of Chianese, Kalmar and Epifano.

Then the rumours of a BIG announcement of a player coming back.

So far that's 0 for 3.

In the interim, they've had, in their minds, BIG announcement of a new sponsor and some make believe piece of plastic.

Seriously, the first 3 will get some excitement happening on the pitch and get the crowds in, the other two, meh, who really cares.

New walk out song?

New sneakers for mascot?

Funky new colour of goal net?

After yesterday's display, I can see Mooy ripping Glory apart and MCFC winning 3-0 or thereabouts.

Then Glory play Adelaide next Sunday. Even with their attack, I can see them squeaking home a win.

So, next Monday I can see Glory having played 4 games in two weeks, without a single point to show and knocked out of the FFA cup.

No FFA Cup final and 0 and 3 for the A-League start.

I have a terrible feeling that Glory have bought a dud in Fernandez, a liability in Golec, have a captain that is shot after 60 minutes and somehow forgot to develop a midfield over the pre-season.

I know I am a negative nelly, but I have seen nothing to get me excited after these first two games and the FFA Cup.

The FFA Cup run was against minnows, the Jets (Glory's bunnies) and WSW (equally shite) and have struggled to beat any side in normal time.

There are too many warning signs telling me that this season is just going to be another washout with Glory finishing on the bottom, stone cold motherless last.

Someone please tell me I have missed something obvious and it's just an aberration.

You don't agree? Looks pretty dire. Kenny will be forced to try something a little different with Garcia gone for one match. Hopefully that change will bring something more positive.

I do agree but constantly coming on here and repeating it is like standing in front of a mirror wanking while telling yourself how ugly you are.

I need to vent somewhere.

Too many negatives to think there are positives, but wait....

Oxborrow was a revelation yesterday (surprise, surprise). A young player given a chance and comes good.
Risdon, Thwait, Djulbic, Covic were solid at the back.
Harold was OK.
Sandor was OK.

That's all I could get out of that game.

Fernandez looks very much a lame duck. Very lazy, except when he tracks back and gives away penalties and gets yellow cards.
Castro is either wondering "what the fuck have I got myself into" and can't be fucked or still trying to get use to the team
Garcia was a liability yesterday and what he did was not captain material
Golec gave so many balls away and fucked up other times that he is a liability
Midfield was non existent
Glory were very slow to transition

Castro definitely shows glimpses of being a quality playmaker, his touch and ball control have been impressive at times. However the rest of our midfield was bang average which is why I don't think we're getting the most out of him.
Agreed Golec looks dodgy as hell, even more worrying that our backup is Warren...
Fernandez well you could make the excuse that he's not getting any decent service but so far hasn't looked impressive at all.
Our depth is what really worries me, how we could do with a Ruka, Duganzic type player in the squad to give us another option up front or out wide...

Hopefully Alex Grant will be first choice back up on left now he is training again. Alternatively, Risdon on left and Jacob Collard on the right. Anything but Warren.

Fernandez hasn't had great service but he isn't getting himself into the right areas at the right time often enough. God knows how he is going to go when the weather warms up given his work rate so far.

We need to have Harold and Sidnei running at defences on the counter. We really missed Nebo yesterday. I think he and Castro putting through killer balls for quick forwards to run onto will be our best scoring option this season (as well as set pieces where we looked ok yesterday, particularly corners where with a bit of luck we could have scored on at least two occasions).

Unfortunately, having Garcia out there negates a lot of our attacking options - it is as pedestrian as the last season of Burns and McGarry.

No you are absolutely correct - you are a negative nelly.

Castro showed f uck all. He only appeared to be a footballer in the last 1/3 of the game and even then it wasnt anything special at all. Prior to that he wasnt even seen and when he did get the ball he either lost it or misplaced his pass.

I'm not even going to comment on the Ruka and Duganzic references as it is just embarrassing to the point of cringing.

Calm down pal. Wasn't suggesting it had to be them specifically, was more getting across the point that we were linked with a lot of half decent aussie attacking players in the off season and we've signed no one . I'm sure Chianese will be a game changer...

We're talking Joel Chianese right.

Same Chianese that was delisted by SFC , not picked up by any other A Lge club, did the rounds of the State lge then ended up in the Australian footballers graveyard of S.E Asia ... that Chianese ?

Nice to see Lowe is still driving around the A League streets carrying out the bulk rubbish collection.

wonder if he's heard Nick Ward is back doing light training ?

Surely we will get to see Sciola and Harold running on each wing next game with...

Scioala-Fernandez-Harold
Castro---Marnikovic
Sandor

Don't know how Oxborrow will fit in, will probably fall back to bench but seems unfair when he was the only one that seemed to come out and play.

I really hope Fernandez comes good...I feel like such a cnt for saying this but if he doesn't i hope he goes on the long term injury list so we can get another VISA to replace him. Horrible thing to say about any player. But things could get desperate for us if he doesn't start banging them in. Can't see the goals coming from Harold or the midfield.

I don't pay much attention to the youth team. Is Valentini too far away from being a-league level?
