So, what are the "hardcore" and "true" fans of these former NSL clubs supposed to think when they see that a third of this competition contains 'plastic' clubs? I sense they will sell out and renege on their 'values' of the last 5 years simply because they will have returned to the national stage. Interesting times ahead.

sorry, but what press is this hot off? Is this the same Micheal Cockrill who said in 2007 that a 2nd tier was going to be up and running in 2008/9? Will believe it when I see it. And does being a "man" mean being more gullible?

I would like to see this, but down the track:
A-League
Sydney FC Sydney Rovers FC Melbourne Victory Melbourne Heart Brisbane Roar Adelaide United Perth Glory Central Coast Mariners Newcastle Jets Gold Coast United North Queensland Fury Canberra United South Coast FC
B-League
Tasmania United Northern Territory FC Country Victoria (Bendigo, Ballarat) Gippsland United Carins Christchurch Geelong Coffs Harbour/Northern NSW
IMO, this would make football in Australian truly Australian. We would see sport in areas that have never been seen.
Edited by Proud2becanberran: 3/12/2009 04:56:58 PM Okay, so you would have Christchurch in but not Phoenix?

Um, why would they have a team based in Richmond/Gippsland. If this was legit then neither of these locations would get an individual team and if it was a combined bid then it would just be fail.
I give your terrible trolling efforts 2.5/10

Rumours have it that its complete BULLSHIT...
The FFA should forget about this untill the a-league is upto a high stadnard, where each team attracts crowds over 10k to every match, when each team makes money instead of losing... plus the league needs to be expanded to 16 before any of this BOLLOCKS...

It is NOT financially viable right now for a B-League. That's the simple fact. All it's do would be to destroy the competition. Like adding an extra floor to the aluminium tin shed out the back.. it would just collapse.

marconi and apia have no supportters so their nothing!

Run it in line with the State Leagues;
3 NSW teams 3 Victorian teams 2 Queensland teams 1 Northern Territory Team 1 W.A Team 1 S.A Team 1 Tasmanian Team
Pooled for the first year from the top teams in the state league based on ladder and reflective of there representation in the league.
No promotion as of this moment but relegation for the bottom 2/3 teams who will be replaced by the winners of the State League they are from.
Broadcast hopefully on ABC or SBS. Major sponsor that can be on all shorts of all the teams.

Since when did the A-League turn into the O-League...
Once you bring in a kiwi team, everyone wants a bite of the Apple.
Lets just merge the A-League and CSL then shall we. There is a video clip I think on TWG about this, they have major backing from French investors, they're ready to roll and they are serious.

Proud2BeCanberran wrote:Auckland United will not work. We tried Auckland in the A-league and they were getting crowds as low as 1K. Why would the same team in a second tier competition get 4 times more? Yes maybe football in NZ has taken off recently, with World Cup qualification and Wellington going reasonably but this is being way too optimistic. I think definitely a new team in New Zealand but not in Auckland. Christchurch? The only reason it didnt work was because, 1) They were full of old has-beens and little known australians (who were nobodies in NZ) 2) As soon as they lost the Rufers, they lost all promise and went down hill hard 3) They were pretty much shit from the start Alots changed since the Phoenix and I reckon with things the way they are now it would be a bit different. They wouldnt be as big as the Phoenix though but would provide a good second tier squad for NZ and provide a great team for aspiring 'up and commers'. The current Auckland City NZFC franchise would be comfortable and compeditive in a B-league in my opinion. But yeah if anyone were to ruin it, it would be the Auckland public. Theyre a bunch of no shows. Fucking jaffas...
