Mine just really pissed me off because I could have signed him and completely prevented it from happening.

Yet to have either of those happen to me yet. I tend to try and sell to sides in other leagues for that exact reason.

I generally try to sell and sign from other leagues, especially selling, I usually ask 50% more from a club in the same league as me. But there's a lot of bargains to be found in the dutch league if you're looking for a squad/rotational player to sign.

FUCKING CHELSEA TIME.
I had them beat.
4-3.
2 minutes of injury time.
They score from a corner in the 95th minute to equalise.
How the fuck do you get 5 minutes injury time from 2?

Im in the same boat as maketheknife as i got promoted to the premier league with Margate. It is such a tough world out there im getting completely out-classes in most games and im last after about 10 games.
My new stadium won't be ready until next season (16k) and i sold out every game last year but this season im not selling any games out :? not a good look in the EPL when you cant sell out a 7k stadium.

Nantwich - Premiership 2025/2026 Media Prediction - 19th out of 20th. Actual Position - 15th.
This season was far more comfortable. We never actually dropped into the relegation zone, and had a very comfortable buffer of at least 6 points.
I made some big moves in the transfer market, bringing in a new CB, DR, ST, GK and a couple of experienced players in on free's.
On the outgoing side, we had a very annoying outgoing transfer. The striker I bought last season for £8,000,000 was bought by Chelsea, who hit his £16,000,000 release clause.
When January hit I wanted to strengthen the squad in an attacking sense. I purchased an AMC I've been chasing for £15,000,000m, a replacement striker for £11.75m and finally a left winger for £6m
Pretty much all my incoming transfers are done in 2/3/4 year monthly instalments, to enable me to stretch the budget out. It's paying off at the moment, financially we are solid but not outstanding, but it's realistically kept us in the top flight. We have about half a million a month in installments going out for the next 2 years, at which point it'd drop down to 300k. This of course assumes I don't sell anyone. Which I'll be trying my hardest not to.
We upgrade the facilities some more, and the board are having the youth facilities upgraded again. Hopefully they'll do the stadium as well. We packed it out this year in all but a handful of games.
I also changed Assistant Manager. The one I had just wasn't quite good enough any more, especially when a guy with 20/20 Ability/Potential as well as the other good stats (except Man Management) I snapped him up and sent the other guy packing.
Squad wise, I'd need another DM, an MC and a new 3rd choice keeper.

I wouldn't say 'epic', but he's a handy player from a perculiar place lol.
I just knocked over Feyenoord 4-1 in the dutch cup final to do the double this season. Going to be a busy off season of transfers though. I can see Ogbonna getting snatched up in the summer after the season he's had. I'm tossing up on whether I should sell Janko or De Jong.

Considering he spent the first 4 years of his development in Burkina Faso, Morocco and Egypt, I'd say he's turned out pretty well.

Another season, another first choice striker being sold.
Arsenal bid £18,250,000 over 24 months + £5,750,000 after 20 league goals + 15% profit on next sale.
Chairman accepted over my head.
edit - He rejected their contract \:d/

Haha. We're playing absolute cannon fodder in the Euro Cup qualifications.
10-0 on agg vs a Macedonian team. Let the keeper come forward for corners, and he scored a double. Would've got a hat-trick if he didn't miss a penalty as well. 4-0 against a Georgian team. 13-0 in the 3rd round vs a Cyprus team. Keeper bags another brace :D

Edited by macktheknife: 7/4/2011 09:40:19 PM That's got to suck. You don't even get the cash up front. I'd be spweing. Vincent Enyeama just picked up keeper of the year for me. Awesome signing.

I actually preferred to get it over 24 months. I've been paying for all my transfers over 24/36/48 months and I pay like 700k per month in clauses out lol. I'm just on the side of profitability. Thankfully, I'm almost down building my first team with the purchase of a young 4.5 star DM from City.
Basically means I can fill up my squad with a handful of loan signings and any good free transfers (eg, this season I brought in Jack Wilshere on a free to cover the AMR spot), and I can focus a little bit more on even younger potential players. Basically I turn into Arsene once I have the core first team set, and start to get rid of the deadweight in exchange for high potential players.

That's what I've been trying to do at Twente, but there's so much dead weight and there's so little dutch talent suited to that level that it looks like a five-ten year project.

Is there any way to make your keeper take Goal Kicks short? I've got his passing set to the shortest available, his distribution to Quick Throw, and Distribute set to my LB. But he still just punts it downfield.

I was fucking filthy when it cost me a late goal and two points.

Yeah. The number of times I've conceded because of this run of play: -GK takes Goal Kick, punts it long -Opposing midfielder powers free header back towards goal -Opposing striker breaks free of defence, is now 1v1 with keeper It's ridiculous.

I'm not running the 11.3 patch, but that's been my biggest problem with the FM11 release bug wise IMO. So Azofeifa, Schelotto, Janssen and Snijders have just arrived. I'm looking to see where I can trim some fat for the upcoming season, looking to offload a midfielder or two perhaps. I've just signed a new 15,000/week contract. I've got De Jong, Mihaylov, Landzaat, Vujicevic and Monterrubio coming off contract and I'm not sure who I want to extend. Especially whehter I want to keep Monterrubio and Landzaat around at the age of 35 and 34 respectively.

If you take it specifically off the LB and just set it to short, he'll probably search for the RB after the LB instead of punting it.

It was originally off. I put it on to see if he would start passing it to him. Didn't work. The only thing I can think off is that he's set to distribute by Quick Throw, but because it's a GK, he can't, so he defaults to Long Kick. Changed distribute to Defender Collect and will report back.

Just beach Bordeaux 5-4 away in the first leg of the first knockout round of the UCL after being down 3-1 down at HT. Lukaku second half hattrick FTW.

My highlights don't show most of his Goal Kicks, but Analysing the passing afterwards compared to another game, there were no long kicks from Goal Kicks, and all short to defenders, compared to all long kicks in the previous match. Something to keep in mind. Love it when shit talking works. Couple of days before a clash with minor rivals Swindon, their manager gives me some lip. I respond by pointing out how Swindon are underperforming and that he was under pressure and losing to us would make his situation much worse. Fast Forward to the next day, We win 2-0 and 'Swindon sack Varney' in the papers. All Class.

I usually have mine set to 'defender collect', so don't count your chickens yet. See how long it lasts for.
I don't think the post game press options are very good in the game. You should have an option to gloat.

 Yep. Retired as a player in 2019, and spent 7 years doing nothing, until Swindon hired him in 2026. Did a decent job with them over 2 and a half seasons, things were just going backwards this season. His attributes are horrific though.
