Mark my words the Serbian media is devastated about this loss. They know how vulnerable they are. Their confidence is shattered right now. And if they need to find 3 points on 23rd of June to make the second round, watch the fear and inevitable choking retur. God damn it's gonna be great to watch!

Yeah I'm sure the Serbian media are worried about their first run out in a friendly after arriving in Austria for a training camp a day and a half before the NZ game minus some of their more creative players

On another note Spain's media are crushed their team struggled in their first run out against Saudi Arabia

The arrogance of the Serbian coach to think that only his team and not New Zealand was experimenting with lineups I beg to differ and whilst we are on it the comments from that dickhead Serbian player who claimed after the game that Serbia would now destroy all opposition in the WC - Loser!! There arrogance just never stops. In fact many of the Eurpean teams struggled against lesser opposition and were far more gracious about it than this mob. And a word about there fans-One word MAD!!

In as much as I am stoked by the All Whites' win over Serbia, I also think that there were different objectives for both teams. For Serbia it was, I think, a warm-up game; but somebody forgot to tell their fans. For NZ, it was a World Cup game. Still, well done and good luck in SA guys.

I have already posted this and agree totally can you imagine the HAKA aimed at the Slovakians and the Italians they would shit themselves especially if the All-Whites got right in there face like the all blacks do? Would put them off there game for sure and could start a riot.

there's barely any maoris in the squad so it'd be kinda funny.
like watching the all blacks and you can see all the unco white players way out the side and at the back etc.

You seem to have some hate for the Serbian squad. Hmm..

The player you are talking about is Zigic. He said that the squad will be going to the World Cup with the aim to "destroy" (win against) all other opposing teams. As i see it - if a team doesn't got out with mentality of beating all other teams, then they wont have much of a chance and shouldn't really be there. Just as the Chilean coach said he wouldn't be happy witha 3rd place finish because they are there to win it!

The only loser here seems to be you..

Plus some of the Serbia supporters at that game should be ashamed of themselves. Throwing bottles and invading pitches is so childish. I could understand if it was a teenage hooligan, but a 40yr+ old (overweight) man, he needs to seriously have a look at himself and decide whether invading the pitch and taking off his shirt was the best right thing to do.

The Serbian FA needs to get onto this ASAP and tell the supporters to stop acting like such animals or f*ck off.

Hey Miko
I never once used the word hate you complete dick so don't put words into my mouth. I hate no-one pal. Destroy and win are both verbs with differing internations. One, what I don't like is the arrogance of the serbian coach and certain players in his quad, Two I find the Eurosnobbery of your ilk and others on this site at times apalling, three the constant criticism of the Australian team on this site is distressing and borish and four the view that Serbia might destroy the Socceroos absolutely laughable. Five, I am sure you would agree Miko a second string New Zealand team have seriously embarressed your team on the world stage.

I must say, I am a little disappointed with the loss to New Zealand. IMO I think they were the better team and deserved to win it. I hope they continue to do well and have a good WC campaign. I will be cheering them on.

Right now I don't think it's wise to over-react to this loss, it's 2 weeks till the WC begins, we have a couple more games to get some form happening. I have faith in the coach and the team that they are on the right path in regards to having the squad prepared for the tournament. One thing I am happy about is that the players seem to still be tight nit unit, no one has come out and dissed the team (which is something that would have been possible previously).

Without getting into a debate with you all on the result itself, results of the friendly matches don't matter, all we all care about are he results at the tournament, and only then we'll find which teams took the correct preparation.

So you have two accounts on the one forum? Why?

I never said you hate them. I said you "seem" to hate them as per your previous comment. Zigic said in a press conference that they are going to the world cup with the aim to beat everyone and because of that he is a dickhead? I've never heard Antic say Australia are easy beat? Have you?

I don't think you realise what these preperation games are for. New Zealand is the most similar country to Australia. Antic says that he knows the Australian team (like Germany) are some of the most physically and mentally strongest in the world. This is why he played a friendly with New Zealand - to see how aggressive they are and to test out some new tactics, and obviously he would have told the players to take it easy and not to get injured.

And yeh. Serbia is really embarassed now.

What was seen from this friendly is that Serbia is very weak in the RB position. Rukavina is not cut out to play at internation level and if Ivanovic was to get injured - Serbia would be stuffed at RB. Obradovic was injured and it is not known yet what is happening with him but most likely Kolarov will take his place since he had a solid game. Jovanovic and Krasic would be a huge blow if either of them were to get injured as there also doesn't seem to be a lot of depth in the wingers department.

I also don't think that Serbia will play well against very physical sides such as Australia, so this is where Australia will have an advatage as the Serbian players seem to be very concerned about getting injured. Also im not sure on how Serbia would react with being a goal down in the World Cup.

I see there is no post from notorganic in this thread, not surprising since this result is inconvenient to his view of the World.

I think some of the comments that the All Whites are treating these friendlies as World cup games are a bit misguided. After 28 years of trying to qualify do you not think Herbert and the players are desperate to also do well in South Africa?

I'd love to Shane Smletz's face if someone tells him he's gotta do the Haka!

There could be a negative impact from this result if rivals wake up to the idea that NZ will not be a pushover. Hope they get a few goals, especially Smeltzy. Not expecting him back at Skilled Park, but great if he is.

SCO3 To summarise the comments on this forum: Australia and Serbia were attempting to lose to New Zealand because the games were not serious and this was the way to prepare for the World Cup.

yep NZ is the one taking the game too seriously and making all kinds of cheap shots on key players like Brown, Nelsen, Elliot and Bertos. Wait, no that has been our Serbian and Australian opponents rattled by the sustained pressure we've put them under.

I don't know how they will do. i watched their play off match against Bahrain so am pretty excited for them. I will admit when I looked at the schedule for the world cup I was not going to watch NZ's games as I didn't expect them to be contests and I need some sleep now and then*.

I still don't expect them to get through but I will be watching their games now as they will be competitive.

* I always try and pick dud matches that i won't watch...then end up watching them anyway because it's the World Cup.

NZ isn't the one taking the game too seriously and making all kinds of cheap shots on key players like Brown, Nelsen, Elliot and Bertos.

It has been our opponents rattled by the sustained pressure we've put them under who have been frustrated and lashed out.

NZ don't know who their top team is yet- but either of the line ups against Serbia or Australia could have been it. All those players, with the suprise inclusion of Christie, are our top players. We're still experimenting too.

It shows we can score goals, create chances and defend beyond what we were expected to be able to do. Most pleasing has been the passing game, which hasn't been the hoof and hope we feared, but has shown we can maintain possession and use it.

We will have to wait and see if we can step up in crucial games at the World Cup. This is our biggest scalp, and only our second win over a European team.

You always manage to make me smile Skinet.
I for one am not intimidated slightly by big words, rather was simply pointing out that you seem to go to great pains to use words that make you sound superior to other posters yet invariably use them wrongly or as is the case with one of your posts above use a word twice in the one sentence.
it would certainly appear, however, that you have two identities as you have said nothing to refute the allegation.

PS I am the least Europhile type on here.
