I've decided what Valencia need to bring to La Liga is a imitation of Stoke. Defending deep, direct play, annoying the other team to try and get any kind of result. 60 minutes. 0-0. Own. Fucking. Goal. ](*,) ](*,) Edited by macktheknife: 16/11/2011 10:30:36 PM

Can't get this shit together. Bloody strikers aren't scoring. Pato has scored 4 from 6, which is alright after spending 36m + Aquilani on him. But Fucking Suarez has 1 from 6, Carroll is yet to score from 4 and Tevez has 2 from 7.

Swapped tactics. Went from a short passing (basically something Fozzie would cream over) to a direct, hard tackling, high pressing tactic. Unfortunately, right at the end of the season, we collapsed in a heap, my main striker Soldado got hit with a 4 month injury, and we ended up 5th, out of CL spots. :( I've rebuilt the squad, with a lot of savvy buying. Valencia - Season 2. After the disapointment of failing to qualify for the Champions League, I managed to hang on to my job, and my bosses seemed to be happy enough to give me a new 4 year contract. \:d/ With our poor financial situation in mind, I had to make the most of what little transfer funds I had, and also needed to get some players in on Free Transfers and loans. I think I did pretty well. Out went pretty much anyone outside the first team. All the young players, reserves, etc. All gone. I sold Sofiane Fegholi to Wolfsburg for 4.6 million, I couldn't afford to wait for him to develop, and needed the cash. Artiz Aduriz also went out, a 31 year old 3rd choice striker, for 2.9m, a very good deal. Also got rid of his 2m+ wages. Lastly our 3rd choice keeper out for 850k, as I brought in a replacement earlier on a free. I got rid of several first team players who were coming to the end of their contracts and were old and crap, including both right backs and a couple of midfielders. Having sorted out my squad depth, it was clear I needed a keeper, a right back, a left back, a ball winning midfielder, a right winger, another right back, and two target men to play the main role in my tactic. So I looked through the free transfer list. I brought in: Almunia from Arsenal on a free to cover the 3rd choice GK slot. Kyle Walker from Tottenham for 3m over 48 months + 1m after 50 league apps + 1m after 10 internationals + 30% profit as first choice right back. David Trezeguet on a free for the first choice TM spot. Luca Toni on a free for the 2nd choice TM spot. Carlos Fierro, a young up and coming 4.5 potential striker as a future prospect. Javi Garcia from Benfica for 1.3m over 48 months + 1.5m after 40 games + 1.5m after 10 int apps + 28k per game for 50 games as my ball winning midfielder. Marcos Rojo (not Rojas :D ) a young 3.5 star potential left back for 3.1m over 4 years + 1.4m after 40 apps + 8k per game for 50. This left me with practically no money in the wage budget left, but I needed to fill two final spots. Loan list time. Got Alex Chamberlain from Arsenal for 50% wages (525k) and funnily enough, Man City put up Micah Richards for loan. 1.6m for the year. That leaves me with a squad that looks like: We lost some of our first friendlies, but eventually came good. We beat Arsenal, Milan, Wigan, Liverpool, Chelsea and a few other clubs in pre-season. Our only match so far this season was against Rapid Bucharest in a Europa Qualifier. 3-0 first away leg, Chamberlain hat-trick playing up front due to injuries. I also realised that even if a player if u19, if they are foreign, they have to be registered still. So that left me 1 player over the 25 man squad cap. Then I realised my 5th choice CB (5th now that Richards joined) had wanted to leave. So away he went for a few mill, and that fixed that problem. Then I realised I actually still had 1 too many players. Which means my 3rd choice, crap DR Barragan is getting unregistered and hopefully will leave. Edited by macktheknife: 19/11/2011 03:26:14 PM

Are there any decent youth products worth looking into, mack? I'm looking for a LB mostly. ECL standard preferable.

I didn't really see any.
I think my tactics been cracked. After our first 3-0 win, we haven't won a game in the next 5, and we look like losing to Madrid to make it 6.

I've been looking at Santon and Renan. Renan's going to set me back around 8.5m.

Going to buy FM 12 on Monday after my last exam, of which I do not have to study for so really I could buy it tomorrow. :-s
Anyway, as I mentioned earlier am thinking of managing a 2nd tier club in Greece, Austria, Switzerland or Belgium. Anyone had any experience with clubs of these ilk?

I managed a second tier club in the Netherlands once. Took over at Emmen when Sergio Van Dijk was there. You spend a lot of time poaching the best players you can find in places like Scandanavia, the A-League and the middle east.

In fact anyone have any decent experiences with a save that is challenging yet to an extent in an obscure/lesser known/lesser talented league?

What Mack said. Pick a mid-table team you've never heard of that plays in a place you can't even locate on a map. Done.

Currently playing as FC Utrecht, pretty enjoyable having Oar, Zullo & Sarota all in the XI and looking to sign a few more young Aussies in January. No work permit issues always makes Holland or Belgium a great game.

I hate the work permit thing. Rules out half my potential signings before I've even looked at them properly. And I don't want to spend three years waiting for them to get their Belgian citizenship.

Belgium sucks as a WP feeder this year. Their rules changed.
Go somewhere else. I think Croatia is one?

In the car the other day so playing on my Ipod (so FM 2011), I swear the game was broken or something, playing as AFC Wimbledon in the Championship but in the Europa league as I won the carling cup (I know the cups are called different things in the game because of licences). Went on a Ridiculous run after just making out of the group of sc Herenveen, Bordeaux and Dinamo which wasn't too suprising but then knocked out Villarreal (6-1 agg), PSG (4-2 agg) and then the most miraculous 2-1 aggregate win over Real Madrid before going out to Arsenal in Semis (can't get aggreagate score).
Also in the league I was 3 games behind most teams because for Europa league and when other promotion contenders were done I was 2 spots out of automatic promotion and 6 points behind. Lost the next game in injury time so with 2 games needed 2 wins, we got it getting on Equal points with Wigan but promoted on goal difference, Amazing season, great finish.

f1dave wrote:5 seasons in and I've finally lifted Portstewart FC to the Norn Iron Premier Division. Pity I now need to keep them there... Haha I play for Limavady United, looking to get them promoted in ym first season but the squad I inherited was a bunch of 16 year olds and some very shit english players. Had to get a whole new squad, and were so poor the most I can offer a player is $40 a week LOL. Most of my players are on non-contracts to save money, and my highest-paid player at a whopping $55 a week I had to release. Spent about a 500 hours looking through like 9000 players in player search, finally found some good ones and my youth team is the best in the world now that I added all the best youngsters I could get. :)

Hey afroman was it you who was saying way back in this thread how easy it was to have real players for the German and Japanese national teams by just deleting the fake.something file? Is it the same if you bought the game from a store, or only if you downloaded it off steam? And you can't do it once the game has begun can you?

I'm addicted to it in the sense that I always wanna play but I can go a week or more without playing if I'm busy, I just finished exams and I didn't touch the game during that period.

That's the fucking point, it's a computer game  Quote:Hey afroman was it you who was saying way back in this thread how easy it was to have real players for the German and Japanese national teams by just deleting the fake.something file? But it's uniform to all installations of the game. Just open up the folder that you've got FM saved in (Sports Interactive or Steam) and then search for "Fake.lnc" (That's an L for 'Leroy') and delete it. All the nations that usually have 'fake' players until the regens develop will now be fully staffed with real life players. The benefits to this are two-fold. One is that when you play German teams in international tournaments their health doesn't regenerate to 100% automatically for each match, thus giving you back any physical advantage you normally would have had. The other being that you can now manage the German NT. The downside to this is that the previous bonus of not losing German players to injury on international duty is now lost.
