I remember watching it on my 10th or 11th birthday with some friends and then infecting my whole street singing "ain't no mountain high enough". As soon as it died down someone else would watch the movie and infect the whole street again.

Leo has to be up there though considering some of the iconic roles he's had and the overwhelming success of the majority of his films. The likes of Depp, Javier Bardem, Bale, Norton, Washington, Pitt, Clooney etc have all been brilliant too. I wouldn't be surprised if the likes of Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tom Hardy's names were being thrown around in a few years time either. Tom Hardy as the title role in Bronson is one of the most brilliant character portrayals I've seen, and the way he brings Bane to life with his sheer presence is just remarkable.

Agree on Hardy, but JGL is seemingly more focused on writing/producing/acting, rather than the consistent big name films that will get him into peoples lists. Edited by jlm8695: 23/7/2013 05:23:04 PM

There's no possible way they can make this happen and it not be a gross disappointment.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Knight_ReturnsQuote:Superman diverts a Russian nuclear warhead which detonates in a desert. The United States is hit by an electromagnetic pulse and descends into chaos during the resulting blackout. In Gotham, Batman realizes what has happened and he and Robin turn the remaining Mutants and the Sons of the Batman into a non-lethal fighting force, leading them against looters and ensuring the flow of essential supplies. In the midst of a nuclear winter, Gotham becomes the safest city in the United States. The U.S. government sees this as an embarrassment and orders Superman to remove Batman. Oliver Queen (the former Green Arrow) predicts to Wayne that the government lackey Superman and the maverick Batman will have a final confrontation. Superman demands to meet Batman. Knowing that Batman may die, Wayne symbolically chooses Crime Alley— where he created Batman. He relies on Superman's weakness caused by his near-death in the nuclear blast.
Superman tries to reason with Batman, but Batman uses his technological inventions and mastery of hand-to-hand combat to strike Superman, and a ferocious fight ensues. During the battle, Superman compromises Batman's exoframe, and Queen wields a kryptonite-tipped arrow to greatly weaken Superman. Batman suddenly dies from a self-induced heart attack. Alfred destroys the Batcave and Wayne Manor and dies from a stroke, exposing Batman as Bruce Wayne, whose fortune is now gone. After Wayne's funeral, it is revealed that his death was staged using chemicals that can suspend his vital life signs. Clark Kent attends the funeral and winks at Robin after hearing Wayne's heartbeat as he leaves the cemetery. Sometime afterward, Bruce Wayne leads Robin, Queen, and the rest of his followers into the caverns beyond the Batcave and prepares to continue his fight. He plans to assemble an army to bring order back to the world.

Saw The Wolverine on Monday. Ignoring the fairly significant plot holes that contradict some of the other facts within the movies, it's a pretty good flick.
The girl that plays Mariko never acted before, she's a model and fucking hot.

Oh good lord. It's so strange that there are people in America that wouldn't be aware that it's Johnny Knoxville in the same old man suit that he used in the show and 3 movies...

Felt a little guilty sipping on a few beers as I watched it, though. Just as long as you didn't take a plane for a ride afterwards. Watched this the other night. Fark me I didn't expect it to be about drugs and the like - thought it was about a plane crash where the pilot had an OTT Blood Alcohol level or something  Was terrific though - Denzel is a god. Real feelgood ending too. Edited by pv4: 2/8/2013 08:10:14 AM

Shit ending, soooooo American man does the right thing in the end. blah, blah, blah.
I would have preferred to see him completely annihilated and found dead from drugs and booze than that happy go lucky feel good hit of the summer ending. I just didn't believe it, that that moment, someone who lied and cheated and cut corners all through his life to protect himself, would give up his freedom right then for a dead girl he banged every now and again.
Edited by Rocknerd: 2/8/2013 10:12:53 AM
But it wasn't just that moment, for that one dead girl. The majority of the movie was spent building that moment up. Tuition for his kid who doesn't want to talk to him, new gf leaving him, all that stuff. I thought that whole presentation/review/hearing/whatever was built up to be incredibly tense, and I thought he cracked very well. How great was his pick-me-up in the hotel room before the hearing
Oh yeah and funniest thing for me was when the plane initially started to nose-dive, the DVD we hired skipped to him in the hospital. The mrs and I both went "no way, there's no way we don't see a crash!". I tried re-winding, which kept skipping, and then was youtubing "crash scene in flight". The mrs was in my ear saying "they did it like that on purpose, they'll show us the crash later in videos and flashbacks". 8 minutes later, we've finished watching the scene on youtube and just went blank. So intense, so hard-hitting! But  that the best part of the movie was the only one the DVD didn't take kindly to. Edited by pv4: 2/8/2013 12:31:19 PM
