So what you're saying is "Cloverfield wasn't supposed to be a good film".

So in finding it shit I've fulfilled the premise of the film. Foolishly giving them my money in return for a piece of crap and proving once and for all that even if you make a shit film people will still go and pay good money if you slap a Hollywood label and a few big names on it.

If you like that sort of film then I'm sure you'll enjoy it, if you're not a fan of the genre then you're unlikely to. You're obviously not a fan of that sort of film, therefore you didn't enjoy it.

Essentially, yeah, it is supposed to be a piece of crap, because if you were caught up in a situation like that, running for your life from a rampaging monster the size of a 50 story building and you just happened to have your hand-held camera on you so you were able to document everything you wouldn't exactly be worried about making a decent movie with a something that resembles a plot or a storyline.

Blair Witch did the first person mockumentary style much better.

In this one paragraph you've gone from one side of the fourth wall to the other and back again. I've got no problem with the production style and concept, but it's possible to have such a film while still developing some semblances of a plot rather than leaving every question the viewer asked dangling like a string.

You don't even find out what happened to the main characters. Let alone the monster.

From memory, I think most of the characters were killed during the course of the movie. The final scene is a couple huddling under a bridge as the Airforce bombs the city. They are killed.

Never conclusive what happens to the monster though.

It doesn't tell you what happens to the few remaining characters. It shows them hiding but that's when the movie ends more or less. The next thing you see is someone picks up the camera and it's movie over.

It was shot from the perspective of a smartass stoner with a camera running around shit scared, I'm not surprised all that information wasn't spoon fed to you. If it was it would have been a shitty, unimaginative Godzilla spinoff (which it was already)

I did some reading up on it, and apparently the writer of the Hunger Games claims she (she?) didn't base the Hunger Games on BR, and had no idea it existed. Yeah right, it's the fxxxing same.

Took the mrs to see Planes yesterday - the movie based off the Cars movies. Was a bit of fun, heaps of references to the Cars movies. We enjoyed it

Speaking of Planes, I want to get stoned and watch 'Turbo'.

Gun Fu is a real martial art too! the way of the Gun. Great opening, middle and end fight scenes. there is nothing I don't like about this film, even the fact that it is the same basic man of the system, man of the revolution story.

Bit of a cliche but I watched Forrest Gump for the first time in quite a while..

Saw Rush last week, excellent movie.

Watched Thor 2 on the weekend. Thought it was pretty well done and a good movie overall. Of course Marvel keeping up the tradition of scenes mid and post credits.

The reason why there are so many Somali pirates is because they were former fisherman. The west decided to dump a whole lot of toxic waste in and around their fishing locations and pretty much killed their lively hood. So they banded together and and started highjacking these ships that were shitting on their ocean and then ended up finding that more profitable than fishing.

Saw The Butler yesterday, was pretty intense. Forest Whitaker is amazing again

Saw '12 Monkeys' for the first time last night, not what I was expecting and had a pretty underwhelming ending but I still enjoyed it, not the sort of film I've any interest in seeing again anytime soon though.

Saw Django unchained last night, really good, great fight scenes and dialogue! DiCaprio was fantastic and John Jarrot was a great little suprise casting

Absolutely loved it! Samuel L was terrific IMO. How random was Tarantino's cameo lol

Watched the new Thor movie. Was good - had some funny bits & some decent action scenes. Love me some Natalie Portman :cool:

Went and saw Captain Phillips yesterday. Really enjoyed it. Another good performance by Tom Hanks. The man certainly does know how to play the role of a man struggling to cope under pressure.

Love the Somali 'Captain' Muse. Really fucking does look like a double of Hersi. :lol:

Captain phillips was alright, tom hanks is always good but i did find the movie a little predictable. a little preachy too. good to see hersi get a major hollywood role. representing the a league well.

Saw 'Blow' last night after plenty of hype from mates, it didn't justify the hype for me but it was pretty well put together and emotive at times, and Depp's performance was intriguing enough to keep me interested.
