My contribution to the thread is that my brother isn't coaching colts football anymore, and I'm not sure if he's playing.

It's funny coz it's true. Pats were pretty embarrassing.

Big weekend for TE's: Davis bagged 2 TD's and 98 yards, Cook hauled in another 2 and 141 yards, Cameron had 108 and a TD for Browns, Thomas had 141 and 2 for Denver.

The real talking point of the week is Jets beating the Bucs though. (Well that and the refs costing the Pack again).

This season is going to be a massive struggle. The only reason we will make the playoffs is due to a lack of competition from the rest of the AFC East. Ridley, jesus christ, how hard is it not to fumble the ball? Thank god Amendola played well, and Edelman stepped up big time, because the rest of the receiving core made mistakes. Hope Gronk gets better soon.

Speaking purely from an on-field perspective, the worst thing about Hernandez's murder charge is the fact we refused to pay Welker more money because the team had invested in Hernandez.

No, the reason they refused to pay Welker more is because he's 32 and wanted a multi-year deal worth double what the Pats thought he was worth and significantly more than his franchise tag value. They had 13m in cap room at the end of last season (Prior to Hernandez being cut) and they'd have had another 15m at the end of this season.

So I've barely watched a game in years, but have sat down with the parents foxtel and am watching a replay of Phil Eagles vs Washington..

I am yet to see a QB line up NOT in shotgun. Is this normal? I don't remember the shotgun being such a go-to offensive play. Granted I'm only 10 mins in - not sure if they do that while the defense has fresh legs still or something.

All this talk about "The return of RG3" and his first two plays have ended up with the opposition getting the ball

You're looking at two offences with mobile QB's, they're going to line up in a 'pistol' offence (where the tailback blocks and the QB makes the rushing play) a lot more - so you'll see them show a shotgun formation to give the QB more time to fire a short pass or take-off under coverage.

The Eagles offence played a great game. They spent something like 20 minutes on the field in the first half and got off 91 snaps (including FG's and punts) for the game which is insane.

It just isn't NFL season until the Chargers choke like bitches.

Cool, cheers for clearing it up. The Eagles are really exciting to watch in offense - very fast flowing and Vick their QB has his shit together. The Redskins are struggling offensively - if I were the coach I'd be wanting to simplify and make high-percentage plays, they just seem to give the ball away too much and noticeably look like they have a rookie QB.

What's the deal with calling a challenge/contest to a play (or whatever it is called - the three yellow bars underneath the team scores)? Do you get 3 a game or half, and if your call is right you get it back?

That was RG3's first game back from major knee injury, they'll get stronger over the coming weeks. Glad we're playing them next week.

Eagles will have a strong season now that their offensive line is back to full strength.

The three bars under the scores are timeouts remaining. You get 3 per half.

The challenges - you get 2 challenges per game. If you're correct with your previous two you win a third.

Because he's a #1 draft pick with huge positive influence on the team. Cousins is a decent QB but when you're playing a divisional game you're going to put your best players on the park.

Our most experience receiver in this game is Edelman, who caught 21 passes last year. He has 8 so far in this match.

If it makes you feel any better, the game was fucking shocking. I mean, granted Brady is missing his top 4-5 receivers from last season but losing it at these inexperienced guys doesn't help the cause and a great QB adjusts to the talent around him and lifts them.

I wouldn't say he lost it, but his body language could definitely be better. Tbf, he admitted straight after the game he's got to improve that.

Thank fuck for Julian Edelman. Outstanding game.

I know the WR are young and I'm sure they will improve as the season went along, but there were so many dropped passes. It wasnt like they were hard catches, some of them Brady puts the all in the perfect spot and they werent looking, or had diverted from their route slightly, or just lost concentration. theres only so much Tom can do. If we weren't facing the Jets, we would have been punished.

It wasn't just that, he was firing in some truly erratic passes too. And getting mad at them for dropping balls that you'd have been lucky if Gronk or Welker were able to land. There were a whole bunch of passes that the WR was pushed off his route and Brady didn't adjust. That's not on the WR, that's just bad football.

If Geno Smith wasn't so poor in the 4th quarter with those 3 picks - all three of which were underthrown to the inside shoulder - the Jets would have run away with it. Any team with a decent QB would have punished them. The next three weeks they've got Bucs, @Falcons and @Bengals, they could be in some real trouble.

Given that Brady's championship window has maybe 2-3 years left I'm surprised that they haven't re-signed Lloyd to give them a proper shot this year really.

What a fucking dart by Brady. Excellent throw.

Big shot on Edelman earlier during the punt return. Atlanta were lucky not to be done for fair catch interference.

Well, fuck. We went to sleep in the final five minutes and conceded 10 points, allowed an onside recover and fumbled at 4th and inches. Had been fantastic up to that point, but let them back in.

Talib and Thompkins were massive, and Edelman had a great second half. Blount was good too, that TD run was awesome. Tony Gonzalez, wow. The guy was unstoppable for the falcons tonight.

Great start to the season, destroyed the Jets last night with Locker throwing 3 TDs before getting injured. I'd be more worried if we didn't have Fitz ready to take over. Toug 3 weeks coming up against West teams, Chiefs and Niners at LP Field and the Seahawks in Seattle before the bye. If we can go into the bye at about 4-3 ill be very happy.

On fantasy, as the first kickoffs started I decided to check my team, then put Nate Washington into my lineup, best decision ever, he's got me 10 points up with Brees still to play.

I can't see you winning any of those games. They're all top calibre offences. These aren't QB's who you can expect to gift you 2 TD's from interceptions.

I'm worried about the Packers. Coming out of the Bye 1-2 with an in-form Detroit waiting for us and a Defence lacking confidence after the performance against Cincy, this could be a bad combination. I'm not sure we're even going to make play-offs this year.

I wish the Bengals would sort their shit out. Getting up over the Packers one week and then going down to the Browns a week later is pathetic.

I'm killing it this week in fantasy. Three valuable wins.

The thing you have to remember with Sproles is that even when he's third on the RB depthchart he also lines up in the slot receiver.
