Is defender B better because he made more tackles? I agree with you to an extent, but you're taking a very narrow view of it. You obviously can't use stats to form a judgment or opinion based on one game, it's just not possible for obvious reasons. They're meant to be used over a period of time/games when things generally balance out. Yeh, I'm not disregarding stats completely, as I said they have their place but very, very rarely can it be used to simply rank similar players. They honestly only tell half the story.

The thing is, Evans and Koscielny aren't even near similar players. One was one of the best in the league this season, and the other is most probably going to be replaced by our 3rd choice CB.

Yes, I know Koscielny had a good season, no doubting that, he has improved heaps. Evans has also been one of the best in the league in previous seasons. An Irishman who came through a clubs youth system is never going to get the attention (good or bad) that a foreign signing will though (especially when he has two club legends playing their part too). I also understand the point that you are only as good as your last game but last season Evans was injured for large parts and we had Moyes pulling the strings. Doesn't make Evans less of a player, he just needs to prove himself again. And in terms of style, they are actually very similar  Edited by busbybabe: 4/7/2014 03:33:57 PM

I think if Evans wasn't plagued by persistent injuries that there wouldn't be much between them, but his last 2 seasons has seen him fall off the pace a little bit and as mentioned Koscielny is light years ahead of where he was 2 seasons ago. On potential for performance they're probably even, but with what's actually been delivered the past couple of years I think Kos is comfortably ahead.

jlm8695 wrote:Fair enough, I do rate Evan's, I just think he's stagnated whereas Koscielny has gone from a liability to a top class CB. No doubt Evans has stalled, pretty much every United player has, our best players like Carrick, RVP etc all had stinkers. Arsenal had one of their best seasons, so it's only natural that they look to be on different paths but I would be really surprised if we have another season like we just did.

You should be more concerned about trying to play catch up with Everton and The Spuds than us mate.

Debuchy apparently confirmed to French TV that he's on his way. Reported fee is around £8m which is a fucking steal.
Also AS reporting that Sanchez has turned down Liverpool's offer and now Barcelona have two offers to pick from, ours or Juve and apparently, according to AS, they prefer our offer.

"Only Ozil could create the most chances at the World Cup while playing out of position and still get lambasted"
So fucking true. I don't think I've ever seen a player cop as much stick as Ozil, even when he's playing a level above his team-mates. It has to be this false concept that he's lazy or disinterested. Not his fault he can glide around the pitch and make it look effortless

Was the tweet by Debuchy saying "au revior Brazil, bonjour Arsenal" legit? Is he signed?

David Ornstein reporting that we're in 'advanced' talks with both Sanchez and Debuchy and still in the market for a holding midfielder and GK.
Imo I think Debuchy is all but done, if not done already and any announcement will wait until the kit unveiling on Thursday.

Debuchy is a good signing but you would think they still need a first choice RB to come in. Would have taken him in a second behind Rafael.

No Debuchy will be first choice and him and Rafael are on the same level, both good fullbacks.
