Citeh still struggled for the 2 1 win - they don't look convincing at all for their place on the table. Without Tevez they are battling up front, Everton/Spurs should do them. Watching the game last night many chances were squandered, don't get me wrong 3nil you take the win comfortably but - I thought we were scrappy at times considering who we were playing, toons run of corners 1st half we didn't get the ball out cleanly many times. Anyway there is only one thing KK needs to keep going for the last games - winwinwin you can't do anymore than that and see what other results do for us o:)

Toon certainly had their share of the ball - 57% possession at HT. Still glad we got away with the win and that Suarez knocked in a goal. He's created a few now so good to see him get on the sheet.

Glad someone else saw it the way I did - young Flanagan at right back was turned inside out by the experience of the pony tailed one LOL a number of times.....toon left field attack looked promising and worrying...though Carra would clean up and talk to the young fella whilst getting back in position. Good to see KK blooding in locals. I hope they have their eyes on a solid centre back - Carra gives us all piece of mind but he can't run forever. I thought it was a drab game TBH but the points are deposited must win every week.

Have you guys got a copy of the Liverpool Special mag for FourFourTwo this month? Great hey! One of the sections I always look at first is My Perfect XI. This month it was Jamie Redknapp - former Liverpool player AND CAPTAIN.
Have a look at his team - not one single Liverpool player in it. Plus he picked mostly Man U players - Schmeichel, Steve Bruce, Roy Keane, Ronaldo, Scholes, Giggs and worst of all FERGIE AND GARY NEVILLE! Absolutely aghast! Lampard over Gerrard!?! Kidding right.
The guy is a douche!

Just wanted to see what Pool fans think of Andy Carroll being included in the provisional squad for the U-21 Championship in the summer.

Not too upset - it can't hurt him to be involved in another competition and getting some matches under his belt, just enjoying football, you know? As long as he doesn't get injured.

Yeah I guess with Carroll it's different because he hasn't played a massive amount of football lately so probably would be a good thing getting the games under his belt. Just Wilshere getting picked has got me both angry and extremely worried.

I'm fine with Carroll playing U21's - he's had a lean year on the pitch, injuries and media hype, he needs more game time to be fully fit and that helps avoiding injury at times. So by Aug he should be primed and ready for the GO pedal !

I'm more worried about Luis, Maxi and Lucas playing in the Copa America - it doesn't finish till late July so they'll get barely any rest.

Yeah we're lucky that the only South American we have is Denilson, and I can't even mention him and Copa America in the same sentence without laughing

Really is funny thinking that the one player who has a real chance of playing in the Copa America is an 18 yr old Japanese kid who before this season had only ever played High School level football

I don't think he'll be getting too much game time, same with Maxi as well considering they have Di Maria to play on the left. Suarez though will be playing every game in the tournament for sure.

Two more things - Guillem Balague was on 'Revista de La Liga' (and has subsequently put on his twitter) talking about the future of Pepe and LFC in general. He has been very reliable when it comes to our Spanish players so I trust him. He said: Pepe Reina has decided to stay. LFC trying to buy left back, centre back, two wingers, centre mid. He also said the LB is Spanish, which makes me believe the rumours linking us with Jose Enrique are true. I'd take that - would be relatively cheap, built like a bull, very pacy and a good left foot. And stoked to hear that Pepe is staying. And: John Henry and Tom Werner handing out free coffee at Fenway park @ 11pm at night after a game - :) Can't imagine H&G doing that, the scum. Found it hard to fit in, although recently he's looked like he is a part of the squad. I'd like him to stay. Him, Suarez and Lucas all seem to be good mates as well. Quote:Disagree - Lucas has been a stalwart in the Brazil side and I heavily doubt he'd be dropped after this season. I can see him starting every game. True. He hasn't played many games for the team, and did miss out on the WC, but he has been arguably our best player this season so he would be one of the first picks for the Copa America side.

I wouldn't take anything Balague says seriously, the bloke is an idiot. Constantly saying one thing and then going against it. Comes out with some real shit.

sydneycroatia58 wrote:I wouldn't take anything Balague says seriously, the bloke is an idiot. Constantly saying one thing and then going against it. Comes out with some real shit. Fair enough - most of the lads on LFC seem to think it's a good source, at least when it comes to Spanish stuff. Good article on our player of the season - Quote: STOKE MAKE AUDACIOUS LATE BID TO TAKE LUCAS LEIVA
Don't worry – he's not going anywhere. This headline actually appeared in a national newspaper last August as the transfer deadline loomed over the start of 2010-11.
But let's assume for the sake of argument that it was true, and that Tony Pulis wanted the Brazilian wearing red and white stripes. Then let's go further and suppose Liverpool may have been willing sellers. It's doubtful that such a scenario would have prompted the kind of grief that swelled following the departure of fellow midfield lieutenants Xabi Alonso and, to a lesser extent, Javier Mascherano.
Now fast-forward through a turbulent season in which Lucas has been a constant of calm and poise and the story would be very different.
Opta stats show the 24-year-old has been the Barclays Premier League's top tackler this term, averaging a successful challenge every 17 minutes.
Players like Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez hoard match balls and champagne bottles but that's bound to happen when every game needs to be condensed into a headline and a five-minute highlights package.
Television companies used to send one or two cameras to a match. These days a director might have 14 varying angles to choose from when showing a replay of a goal. And they'll use a good selection of them – but they still have to return to the action before play resumes. As a result you see the assist and you see the goal – that's it. There's more chance of Sian Massey sending Andy Gray a Christmas card than a director cutting back to where the move began. A well-timed tackle from Lucas, for instance.
Players such as him are like a good set of thermals: you can't do without them through much of the English football calendar but their work isn't noticed unless you take an intimate look.
That's why our No.21 will never win man of the match accolades every week. More often than not, though, he'll be among our top three performers. If awards were decided by AV, Lucas would win by a landslide.
There has also been an element of purblindness as far as the Brazilian is concerned. Like Jamie Redknapp reasoning that Liverpool missed Xabi Alonso and using the 4-1 victory at Old Trafford as an example of the Spaniard's influence. Except Alonso didn't play in that game. Lucas did, fresh from a trip to the barber's – and he was brilliant.
Kenny Dalglish hasn't needed any convincing and in March the former Gremio man was pictured shaking hands with Director of Football Damien Comolli after penning a new long-term deal.
His form has also earned him a role in Brazil's last six internationals under Mano Menezes.
Still not convinced? Then don't just take my word for how important Lucas has been during 2010-11. Asked by a group of Chinese journalists last week to name his LFC Player of the Season, club captain Steven Gerrard replied in one unequivocal word.
"Lucas," he said.
And there wasn't an argument to be heard.
http://thekop.liverpoolfc.tv/_Lucas-Leiva-is-like-a-good-pair-of-thermals/blog/3561660/173471.htmlHe's pwning on the Player of the Year vote on LFC.tv. No surprise too, deserves it so much.

I was thinking we need another striker, but with 2 wingers, Dirk is ours. Though i think he'll move on, maxi may be our spare 'winger'
