M.L. wrote:I've had a love hate relationship with Joe Allen, only because I'd love to see him being a regular start up player for us but he just can't do it week in week out as needed but over his time with us he's shown some great ticker, ball/control movement he's capable of as mentioned by imno. Hats off to him regards to a LFC interview made regards to the pen winner but his comments in the end are worth putting up : The 25-year-old also gave special mention to Jon Flanagan, who was handed his first start for the club in 626 days as a result of an injury to Nathaniel Clyne and acquitted himself admirably across the 105 minutes he featured in.
Allen said: “I'd like to give a little mention for Flanno.
“To start tonight in a semi-final after so long out and keep going as long he did, that's incredible.
“The lads can't quite believe it but that sums Flanno up, that's the way he is. It's incredible how deep he can dig.”
Seriously a great first up run by Flanno. Having Flanno back is great, Milner had some nice words to say about his comeback also. I'd be keen to see him at LB and push Moreno further upfield as a winger. As you say, Allen is just too inconsistent. At his best he is a boss but has unfortunately had more ordinary games than brilliant ones. Hoping for a good result against West Ham (avoiding a replay would be nice). Interesting to see the team sheet given how tired most of the team is looking. Hopefully Lovren is back, think Illori deserves a bit more time too. Is Caulker cup tied in the FA Cup?

Yes saw Milners comments as well, nothing like being young ! Agree for me Flanno at LB or shift over Clyne - not fussed but these 2 imo are our best outside backs. Maybe an idea pushing Moreno up but I don't think he makes the right decision on his passing enough. Concerns of over load for the squad agree no doubt about it, Lovren is confirmed starting up ! I think Caulker will be used.....? This is huge not letting hammers gain another at home. I expect Klopp will promote a few of the Youth but not as many ala Exeter games.

Disappointing.
As usual, controlled large periods of the game but sadly never looked like scoring.
Can not wait for Sturridge Origi Coutinho to be back
Can needs to be dropped for a few games, bring Allen in.
Home to Sunderland next... surely.

Jurgen Klopp will be absent from today's game v Sunderland at Anfield, after suffering a suspected bout of appendicitis. https://twitter.com/skysportsnewshq/status/695941058316935168He'll be fine, can only be deadly if ignored. Edited by socceroofan4life: 6/2/2016 11:56:57 PM

Standard loss due to conceding a set piece. Ridiculous.
Bentekke missed two absolute gimmes in extra time.
Nice to see Coutinho, Sturridge and Origi get some minutes.

Yep, what can you say. Haven't seen all the match but for the first 15odd mins. From reading we should have could have regardlless of the usual lapse's in defense - been as this for weeks now. Were up to 40 games played from memory. Plenty first timers been given a run - all I keep thinking Klopp and his team are learning on the run in turn the injuries made things tuffer as we know. Bring on next game.

Fark, talk a about what a good win does to some ! Im expect players will avoid him in the future lol 6 different scorers importantly Studge puts in the first. Congrats Kolo on the score sheet, says it all. Great confidence booster.

Yep. Very much looking forward to watching the game after work tonight... The reds have been too unreliable lately for me to risk staying up that late on a work night, so I piked out on watching live... And to be honest I was half expecting us to drop points...
I really hope to see Sturridge string together some consistent form and fitness from now to May.... It's important add his fitness will bring results and leave us going into the off-season with some optimism that Klopp can take into the transfer market...

Entirely agree Harrison, couldn't expect consistency with the few decent players MIA due to injuries, front shooting blanks and the make shift backline/s being stretched beyound its abilities were actually not doing too bad  I also thought if its any game Villa do the unexpected typical it would be us ! I'm a glutton for punishment then at times get the reward like early this morn. Enjoy the game, some good passages mixed with heart attacks, says it all.

Brilliant. First time ever we've had Sturridge-Firmino-Coutinho together. Sturridge has only started twice under Klopp and both times scored 6.
Delighted for everyone, Kolo! First goal in 5.
Sturridge 45 fro 75m, a goal every 117min or something, he's so crucial. Has to stay fit.
Origi looks like a tank, just as strong as Benteke and has great mobility and technical ability, he's gonna be a gun.
Stoked for Kevin Stewart also. He's taking his chances.
Well in lads!

yes it was quoted the stats on Studge. Shame he's made of glass, hopefully he's hardened up that little bit more to last 10 + games. Showed easily what were missing up there. That trio once they gain more game time together should be a strong combo in the future. Origi is a tank :) just needs time and fine tuning.

Disappointing result, although going by the highlights not sure we can really say we deserved to win.
So, focus now should shift to Europa League.

Well next europa game is another big one, just wish players such as Kolo would shut up about possible success and just focus on the next game. And another big one Thursday in the league coming up - hope were up for it and reverse the weekends pen loss.

\:d/ Well one game too late but better late than never ! =d> Beast of a game, we shut them out completely - strong all over the park. No one looked fragile, strong as. Well taken goals might I add. Happy Thursday people. Klopp is building confidence amongst this squad - the ongoing fine tuning, some new buys for next season very promising looking ahead. Be nice we over come Palace next.

Some facts from an article - Kolo Toure made his 300th Premier League start in this match – the first African player to reach this landmark in the competition. - Adam Lallana has scored three goals in his last four Premier League appearances, the same number he had in 37 league apps prior to this run. - James Milner’s goal (and Liverpool’s second of the game) was the 1500th that they have scored in the Premier League. - James Milner has now scored in 41 different Premier League matches and never lost – only Darius Vassell (46 games) has a superior record to this in the competition. - Manchester City have lost three Premier League games in a row for the first time since November 2008. - Roberto Firmino has both scored and assisted in three of his last five Premier League appearances for Liverpool. - There have been 37 goals scored in the last 10 meetings in all competitions between these two sides (3.7 per game). - Sergio Aguero has scored just one goal in eight Premier League appearances in the month of March, despite playing 606 minutes. What a great Escape ! :d We should have covered their goal but glad their keeper gave Firmino a gift he slotted cooly. Milner red carded before mid 2nd half actually had us playing better with 10. Benteki had a very good chance once on but........had his chance with the pen last kick of the game in extra time. Put away very well might I add. Great way to gain 3points =d>
