He was 2 overs off. That's really not worth being banned for.

I think the ban is because it's the 2nd time it's happened in the last 12 months.

Yeah, fair enough. Still a weak 2nd offence, but fair enough.

Shit really? This will be the beginning of the end for Dhoni... he was already under massive pressure.

Who is India's vice captain and who is their reserve keeper?

We still have big problems at number 3 and the wicket keeper.

Marsh is still riding on the glory of his maiden century, but since then he has been RUBBISH! Khawaja was much better, at least Usman occupied the crease for a while!

Hadd's is finished, his keeping is starting to become really crap and he is no longer contributing with the bat. Time to move on! The rumor is that Haddin is holding his spot because they are waiting for Paine to come back to replace him, but Tim Paine isn't likely to return anytime soon so we need to look elsewhere. What I don't understand is why is Chris Hartley not being looked at? The guy was shield player of the year last year! He is easily the best wicket keeper in the country, and he averages the same as Tim Paine in first class cricket (both average 31) and Chris has actually scored more first class centuries then Pained (4 to 1), so I don't accept that Paine is ahead of Hartley for his batting! And with only 129 catches from 46 games compared to Hartley's 235 catches from 55 games, its hard to argue that Paine should be ahead of Hartley in the pecking order... So quit waiting for Paine to come back and give Chris a go!

Yeah but that argument is kind of invalid since a lot of those 46 games Paine played he wasn't keeping. Also pretty sure Khawaja won state player of the year last year.\

Paine's had far more success in the other forms of the game too, averages 34 in One-dayers while Hartley only averages 25, with a highest score of only 70 and a strike rate of just 59. I rate Hartley, he's had reasonable success in the Sheffield Shield over the years, but really Paine and Wade >>> Hartley.

This. I do agree with what RJL said about the ridiculousness that appears to be Haddin staying in purely because Paine is injured and they've already labelled him as next in line. Wade deserves his chance.

Success in one day cricket means nothing in test matches, Michael Bevan taught us that.

If Paine has played a lot of his first class matches purely as a batsman, then the fact his batting record is if anything worse the Hartley's is even more of a question mark for me as to why Paine is rated ahead of him.

Wade has had a fine season so far but I still believe that in test cricket, you have to pick your keeper on keeping ability first and batting second, and Hartley without question is the best gloveman in Australia, and is still a more then handy batsman.

Just my 2 cents

Who gets dropped? On bowling figures on the last test, Harris but really not sure.

The rotation policy would suggest Siddle will be rested as he has played the most consecutive games and looked jaded at times I thought this test. On reputation though you probably drop Starc

Gotta go with this. It's time for Haddin to go, but I think we'll see either Paine or Wade coming in. I don't know much about Hartley to be honest (where/how does he bat?) but I think they prefer Paine because he can, and has, batted both in the top and lower-middle order.

Get rid of Marsh and bring in Kawaja too.

I dispute that, that used to be the case but these days it doesn't matter how good a keeper is with the gloves if his record with the bat isn't any good you can't pick him.

This year Hartley has averaged just 27, Last year in the Sheffield Shield he only averaged 29 with a top score of 80 and a strike rate of just 36, I don't know about anyone else but for me that's not good enough for test cricket no matter how good a keeper is. I can't compare him to Paine because Paine has been injured for that whole time. But I can compare him to Wade and Nevill who both have much better records over that time.

Paine >>>> Wade, only because Paine already has that test match experience, but it's really quite close between the two, then beyond those two Nevill >>> Hartley.

I agree 100% Gooner. The Wicket Keeper is the new All-Rounder, if they are off their game in either the batting or keeping department they are at risk of being dropped. Look at Haddin for example, his glove work is still quality, but he isn't performing with the bat and to be honest, doesn't even look like putting a score together these days. TBF his age is also against him.

I think in the short term (the next 2-years maybe?) Wade is the better option, however Paine has been pre-selected as the next Australian WK, so that is why they are waiting for him to get back from his injury.
