MvFCArsenal16.8 wrote:southender did u hear about gus? hopefully he stays . Yeah I did hear that. I'd be willing to let him go to Melbourne but only if we got Moloney in return. We wouldn't be getting anything good off Port so its looking more and more likely that he'll be sticking around next year. On a side note West Coast are actuaally toying with North

Rumours on Twitter saying it is John McCarthy. Absolutely terrible. Even worse to hear he is only 22.

Terrible news. It looks like it is McCarthy, he was a Collingwood man for a few years and was a handy player, it's tragic this has happened and at such a young age.
RIP

Real shame. But you've got to wonder what the hell he was doing.
Had the Roo boys off their faces in my bar on the weekend. Was amusing and for once they weren't any trouble

Wow, was more of a relief than anything at the end there. Good thing the first 3 quarters weren't as horrendous as the last one.

Was amusing and for once they weren't any trouble  Yeah I've seen a fair few footy players out during the last few weeks, so many of them well into the powder too. I witnessed a certain older yet prominent North player last year chase down a taxi full of Richmond players leaving the bar, yank the door open and hurl a mouthful of abuse and then leg it  On topic though That was fucking dreadful by Collingwood, all season we've been a shadow of what we were under Mick the last two seasons, we've had some pretty damaging injury problems but that's barely an excuse. I have faith in Buckley, I think he will be great but right now it seems he has no plan B, so often when teams figure us out and are pressing hard we just panic and look lost, either fucking up disposals or just panicked hopeful kicks to the very edge of the line hoping someone presents. It's infuriating to watch.

I wouldn't be too harsh on the pies, except for a couple of times where our foot skills let us down that was the best we have played in a really long time, and it has even given me that hope that even if we do get the hawks next week we are a chance. Longmire has done a brilliant job, he's been able to reinvigorate the older boys like O'Keefe, Bolton and LRT by giving them new roles, whilst getting the younger boys like Jetta, Hannebury and McGlynn to mature their games so quickly. Also, Josh Kennedy surely proved last night that he is one of the absolute supertars in the comp.

the problem i had is that the majority of pies fan were going on how they will own the hawks in the grannie . like i read in the paper the week after a huge tragedy is usually the time the players cant give anymore.

I don't know one fellow Collingwood supporter who ever thought we would have a chance of beating the Hawks. As soon as Geelong got knocked out I knew our premiership chances were over, Hawthorn are the better team and they just seem to have us figured out this season. Having said that though I was adamant throughout the final series that we'd make the final, I thought our streak against the Swans would keep rolling but clearly they played out of their skin. I think a few of the boys were feeling the emotional drain of recent tragedies, Beamsy in particular was off by his standard and he and J Mac were very close. The quality of Sydney's pressure and defensive game was phenomenal, our biggest weakness is not having a plan B when teams squeeze us, and they exploited it brilliantly.

It was a great win for us. I'll be begging for an Adelaide win tonight, but even still I think we can beat the Hawks.

They haven't really dealt with the pressure of favouritism the last few years since 08. It's strange but this swans squad reminds me of the hawks 08 situation, not in style of play, but in the mix of youth and experience and the naive and likeable approach that some of our kids have, they just always back themselves no matter what the situation. Oh, and my god that goal by Jetta, spine-tingling.

Have not actually watched a full game of footy since I was a kid, but man that really made me stand up and take notice. Might actually watch the grand final this year.

Really impressed by Sanderson and the crows, completely outplayed and out-coached at home first week of the finals then to play so well the next 2 weeks really is impressive No matter how much you are tipped to get smashed, its gotta hurt getting so close.
