Roar_Brisbane wrote:Mister Football wrote:Roar_Brisbane wrote:So MF any advice for Supercoach this year? Actually, did my first team only yesterday, and it's easily the toughest team I have ever tried to assemble. There appear to be fewer rookies to go round, and the better ones are worth a bit of coin, so it's going to be hard to stack your team with quality rookies and fill the rest with premium selections. A complete re-think is needed. You have to spread your premiums a bit more thinly, and start looking for value in the $200k to $300k range - it's going to be tough. Like O'Meara last year, Jack Martin is a lock. And there are a few players who have changed clubs who are worth keeping an eye on. I like the look of Gary Rohan at around $176k. I try and avoid any player in his 2nd year - conversely, I'll be checking players out who are heading into their 3rd year, especially top 20 picks from 2011. I'm tossing up whether to leave out players like Ablett and Pendles in the first round, and try and catch them with a price fall in later rounds - but risky strategy. I've been thinking and from what I've seen, everyone seems to have D Thomas, so I might take a gamble and not select him and play rookies from M5 down instead. Not a fan of many of the forward rookies so I'll use this extra cash to have a big five in the forward line. Dangerfield, D Martin, Wingard, Franklin and Pavlich. Dangerfield on track to be the highest scoring forward for the year, Franklin shows good value after a poor season last year, Pav is a bit of a risk.

So I'm thinking if we get enough interest we should try and get a supercoach league going.
MF you still think J Martin is a lock? I'll personally be taking Tyson.

Latest annual report news:
Greater Western Sydney
Revenue: $31,959,745 (up from 30.7 million) Profit: $30,386 (2012 loss of $176,647) Football Expense: 20.1 million (up from 19.3 million) Sponsorship: 9.2 million (up from 7.7 million) membership and merchandise: 1.4 million (down from 1.6 million) AFL distributions and match receipts: 18.2 million (down from 18.6 million)
GWS' sponsorship of $9.2 mill is pretty good. Double Freo's sponsorship, and a mill higher than Adelaide's. Very impressive given how new they are and the fact that they've only own 3 out of 44 games in their first two seasons.

He should be playing first round, I won't be picking him though, I think there's better value around. Harry Cunningham should play a lot of games for the Swans this year and has looked good in pre-season, he'd be worth a spot on the midfield bench.

Dean bailey's last game as head coach resulted in a thrashing
It was a performance so bad it could make him roll over in his grave

Incredible win by the Giants, only their 4th in 45 games, their first against the Swans. Attendance of 17,100 is their best ever attendance at their home ground.

rofl so much for the 20k plus Demetriou and his cronies has been talking up all week, would say that's a good dose of karma after AFL media have been attacking NRL crowds as well. 17k may be a ground record but it's still an awful turnout for a "Derby"

Being that they perceive the A-League as a rival and that the A-League shies away from having their season at the same time as the AFL it benefits the AFL to have a longer season.

Alright, the only reason I'm interested in this sport is betting.
I just saw an ad by Sportsbet claiming that "if your team (the team you bet on) are leading at the end of any quarter and lose, you get your money back." For the first round only.
Now if I put $1000 on each team, is there any possible way that I can't win? Obviously I'd lose a thousand on one team, but I'd make more than on the winnings.
