So they're going to have Foran, DCE and the rest of the squad would be from the youth league on minimum wage deals?

Clubs are fighting for a pretty big increase of the salary cap. I'd say Manly are banking on that happening, and if it does, these suddenly become great deals.
I would prefer the Roosters to go after Foran instead of waiting for Hayne.

I would prefer the Roosters to go after Foran instead of waiting for Hayne. From memory DCE's contract in the future will go up whatever percentage the cap goes up as well (I assume Foran would want similar clauses). So regardless of how big the increase of the cap it wont really make that much of a difference here, there wages will still be massively inflated. A few people keep saying they have all this clean air from 2017/18ish when it comes to the cap, but what about 2016 I've read they will no longer be paying Watmough but Foran/DCE will be on fair larger contracts on what they were previously on they'll still have Stewart, Matai, Lyon, Ballin on good money add in new recruits Myles, Lussick & Brown; I'm not sure where this money is coming from for next season (All heavily backdated contracts I suppose). Even with the cap increasing it will make competing very difficult. People say looking at Melbourne and they've been able to have success building around the big three. But the big three are all on pretty reasonable wages while DCE?/Foran will be on massively inflated ones. The Storm also make very shrewd signing looking at both the state leagues, the super league and picking up guys who are on the outer at their NRL clubs as well. Manly on the other hand appear to be wildly throwing money around, its going to be interesting to see if Manly can not adopt this approach but be successful as well.

I'm pretty sure Greg Bird will be at Manly next year, and I don't think Stewart will be

Josh Jackson's had his charge downgraded and so will miss 1 game and be available for Origin 3.

Like you I am a Bulldogs fan but Eastwood had a lot to do with that tackle so pinning most of it on Jackson was never going to stick. You going to Belmore on Monday night? My missus got me tickets and I cant wait! I can remember the last game I went to there. It was against the Panthers in the Super League final series, we lost 15-14!

Yeah definitely going. The two games at Belmore are pretty much the only reason I bothered renewing my membership

Surely the Sharks give Gallen the flick?
I don't see how you can carry a guy on big dollars who misses more than half the season each year.
His workrate has always been phenomenal but he's probably one of the most selfish players to play the game as well. Cares more about his individual stats than whats best for the team.

Agree that the Sharks need to seriously look at the money they spend on him, but can't agree with the second part. If anything he pushes the boundaries too far to win at all costs. IMO the Sharks are comfortably a top 8 team with a fit Gallen, but he needs to put the club before state or take a pay cut after this year.

IMO the Sharks are comfortably a top 8 team with a fit Gallen, but he needs to put the club before state or take a pay cut after this year. The problem with Gallen is that its always about what he has to do to get the win than whats best for the team. So many times he'll take two even three hit ups in a set, yea if his team is struggling for metres down in there own end fair enough but most of the time he's just starving the rest of his forward pack the ball. Even worst though is when his team is in a great attacking position, he gets the ball on the 4th or 5th and starts running around like a halfback. ](*,) I'm not sure if the coach is to blame here but Gal really should take a look at how Graham, Bromwich & Parker play all have great workrates but first and foremost they put their team first whether that be running decoys or creating plays for others. I'm not saying he isn't a good player but if he wasn't so self-centered his team would be doing so much better. Anyway its great that we keep picking up these two points (probably our best origin period in a very long time). The McGuire injury is a massive blow to our title and origin chances. Judging from tonights game Korbin Sims has to come in for him. Corey Oates is going to be an unbelievable player across the next decade. :d Maranta still frustrates me though, simply superb under the high ball but I don't think I've ever seen an outside back who simply can't beat a player 1v1, he has no footwork, speed or strength. It doesn't even matter how much space he has he simply won't beat a player 1v1.

His high work rate doesn't make up for the many errors he makes to satisfy his need to be the hero. Sometimes just take the tackle rather than look for an offload.

How does a team ship a 18-0 lead to lose 24-18. Mind boggles. Can't pin that on JT alone lol. -PB

Really disappointed with that Qld team by Mal.
I said before the series I didn't like the make up of the pack and bench and after the 2nd match it appears I was right. Now with McGuire out (who was one of our best forwards in the first 2 matches) we've gone and replaced him Papalii a 2RF ffs.
So our prop rotation will be Scott, Myles, Papalii & Lillyman, good luck with that Mal. ](*,)
Good to see DCE dropped although I still don't like having a utility and its not like Morgan has had an actual impact either. It just further weakens us in the middle.
The Lee selection as 18th man is horrific, he'll be lucky to retain his place in the Raiders side in the coming weeks let alone potentially playing origin.
Personally my forward pack would've been:
8. M.Scott 9. C.Smith 10. K.Sims 11. A.Guerra 12. S. Thaiday 13. C.Parker
14. M.Gillett 15. D.Napa 16. N.Myles 17. J.Lillyman

A sellout for a game on Monday night will make the NRL happy. Mind you this would have sold out no matter the time or day.

Will be interesting to see Belmore Sports Ground with an actual crowd for a football game tonight for the first time in over a decade.
