people stayed away in the past because they feared people that could only speak broken english, that these people would stab them during half time and take their spare cash.. seriously all these people needed to do was get beyond the prejudices for the people that created and nurtured our game to be embraced by it and them; many times i saw asians arabs and aussies at SOFC marconi games and so on because they actually went to a game and saw for themselves that the prejudices were false. they ENJOYED the football, they ENJOYED the cultural melting pot, they ENJOYED cevapi with ahhnion farken, they join in and everybody integrates, thats how its supposed to work


people are connected now? like the 4000 at fury games? like the 6000 at sydney fc games? like the 1500 at gold coast games? this is proof that everyone was open to the idea of a new beginning, we gave it a chance we gave it six seasons and it denies our football identity and history and hasnt made a profit either. you guys were all keen to sell all our souls to make a few dollars 'for the good of the game' but you havent done that either, sydney fc to lose 12mil in two years alone!! next step for you guys is to hostile takeover the states and overcharge kids to play that is disgusting


as for the power vacuum.. good point i guess. there isnt really another person right now that the football loyalists can say 'we can kick out Lowy today and X will be in tomorrow doing a better job'. Perception is key, and like it or not, people must feel comfortable to get involved. Carrying Greek or Croatian flags into games, with chants in different languages, how is that making people connect? I can see your point, but the reality is very different in peoples minds, as it became a game of politics and one with so many ethnic fracture points, it was not a comfortable, or even a good foundation, base to build on.

Lowy had to save the game when he came in, as the game was broke, had no corporate support and was on the brink of falling off the cliff. Do you really think all that was done was easy? Sometimes hard decisions are made to get things back on tracck, and as the brands of Soccer Australia and the NSL had become poison, drastic action was needed.

Not everyone was going to agree with the outcomes though, which is always the case, but things are stronger today than they were a decade ago.
