It looks good on the shirt, kinda makes up for the barcode thingy.
Isn’t their CEO on your Board (Ruggeri tweet) which makes it a bit of a sympathy sponsorship maybe?

We are proud to share with you that our vision for a dedicated youth and women’s football Academy has begun its journey to reality, with the commencement of our $21 million Academy project - the largest undertaking in our Club’s history. The Melbourne Victory Academy will be a state-of-the-art facility located in Maribyrnong, approximately 5km from Melbourne’s CBD. The site at Footscray Park will include three pitches (two with hybrid surfaces), six changerooms, offices, meeting rooms, function rooms and undercover seating for 600 patrons. The natural grass show pitch will be used for W-League and NPL matches. In addition, two natural grass training pitches will be developed at Robert Barrett Reserve (adjacent to Maribyrnong College) to accommodate an increasing number of training squads. The Melbourne Victory Academy will become the hub for our expansive community programs, housing the office of Blue Light Victoria and importantly allowing the club to increase its engagement with local schools, clubs and community groups. This is a milestone moment for Melbourne Victory and football development. We are extremely grateful for the support of the Andrews’ State Government - who share our vision - and subsequently provided $10 million in funding assistance, along with the support of our partners, members and supporters. We are enormously proud to share this journey with you – and I’d encourage you to watch the below short video outlining the Academy project. source
There is a short video in the source link that you should check out as I can't embed it here.

This is nothing short of fantastic news - anybody live near the area that can confirm that work is underway?

They're in Serie C now, promoted last season. Biasin saved them from insolvency, he was born in Trieste. They were a founder of Serie A and stayed there until the 50's but have had harder times since. If anything, they've joined the Victory Group rather than the other way around lol Still, only team in one of Italy's bigger cities, and second in their group in Serie C after five games, maybe that Victory touch could bring them back to the big time!

This is nothing short of fantastic news - anybody live near the area that can confirm that work is underway? will be completed by 2020. the video looks pretty sexy tbh, although a bit frustrated that they had to find another site for an extra 2 pitches. Footscray Park is literally a 10 minute drive for me, so i'll be easy to get down there for the lower level games. I should add that less than half of the project is funded by the state govenrment. which is a joke when you consider the crazy amount of money they are handing the AFL (602 million at last count). +xHave Melbourne Victory filled all spots on their list?!Do they have 23 squad players or do they stil need to fill? we have always gone in with 21-22 players but this year we only have a squad of 18 so far. Clearly the club intends on using youth to cover injuries and suspension... which seemed to work well last year with the introduction of Theoharous and Hope. I still think we need another left sided winger. we were trialing an NPL winger recently, but not sure how that eventuated.

9 days before game 1 when we will start to see answers to the following 9 questions: 1. Is Ola going to be the best number 9 in the league? (comp. Taggert, Bruno, Oriel,Ross, ..) 2. Will Honda be the best player in the league as his FIFA ranking suggests ? 3. Has Troisi's game disappeared along with his hair or will he find his A game (it is a contract ending year) ? 4. Will Raul play ahead of Carl ? 5. Can Hope get a game (I hope so) ? 6. Is Georg the new MDP ? 7. Is Roux going to find a long term home at MV or is he just holding the spot for a return of Geria ? 8. Did Nick develop his game while in Portugal ? 9. Has KM developed some new skills / tactics as coach ?
Full trophy cabinet (but yours looks a bit empty) ! Reigning BACK2BACK 442 A League and World Cup (Mens and Womens) Tipping Champion - so yeap, I do know best !

I’m not that confident for this season. MV Phave a few great players but very thin squad and if 1 or 2 of the imports get injured they’re up sh1t creek.
If they can keep 11 on the park and they all fire then they should do pretty well, never that simple though.

Our defensive stocks are much better this year and our midfield is the most flexible in the league. its clearly too early to predict how were gonna go, but i'm tipping we won't be finishing 23 points behind sydney this season.

Hopefully Jimmy will have a big year. Maybe his inspiration will be to get back into the NT and playing off Honda and Ola may open up space and opportunities for him.

He will be up there with Le Fondre and Riera as the best #9s 2. Honda will be in the Top 3 players in the league 3. Troisi will be an average player, a decent A-League player, but nowhere near his best 4. Raul should play ahead of Carl and supporters will get angry when Muscat leaves Baena on the bench 5. Hope will be a bit-player again this season but feature a lot in the ACL 6. Georg is definitely going to be the new MDP 7. Roux will be an important player, he'll surprise people 8. Nick will be the same player as before, he'll do a job but won't be a standout 9. Unlikely!

But between Ola and Riera. 2. Yes. 3. The only thing that could he troisi is if he does get pushed out wide and has less pressure because of honda. But doubt it. 4. Yes... 5. Coming into ACL season he surely will but if troisi doesnt perform there could be space 6. I think the biggest thing here will be, can his cb partner stay fit, that will go a long way to seeing how affective georg will be. 7. I hope so... i don't want to see any crazy injuries... or geria return 8. Did he stay fit? If so yes, if his time there was like it was here previously then no. 9. That semi final last season might say yes...

Carl Valeri was talking about the coach using new tactics this year. So I'm confident there will be some changes to how we play this season.
