+xThe next civilian flight for dragon will aim to have a higher apogee than the the Gemini 11 spacecraft, which was 1200km or so. That will make it the highest ever earth orbit by a crewed spacecraft. A crewed trip around the moon is not far away. #dearmoon would probably have already happened by now if not for the switch to Starship. Can't wait to see that full stack fly.

The best bit is the boosters landing back on land or on the drogue ships they have. But every bloody time they land it on a ship the video clags out before they land it.

+x+xSeppos cheering and carrying on like they're in a late night TV show audience. I don't blame them in honestly. Beyond cool. The progress SpaceX is making is genuinely groundbreaking and represents the beginnings of spaceflight becoming obtainable for the average person. Definitely. Exciting times.

Just under an hour until the Inspiration 4 launch, it'll be the furthest people have been from Earth since Apollo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pv01sSq44w

+xThe 100th launch of the Falcon 9 rocket (I think including Falcon Heavy) is scheduled for 1:55pm AEDT today, it'll be the seventh flight for this particular rocket, and the third for its fairings. Will post stream link when it's up. Postponed to tomorrow due to weather.

The mood 2020 needs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgPXtQQnQ-k&ab_channel=NASAThat said, I'm glad I didn't post in advance about yesterday's launch due to NASA's embarrassing effort taking over SpaceX's stream of the Sentinel 6-Michael Freilich mission, but I'm looking forward to SpaceX's own broadcast of their own Starlink mission tomorrow off their own bat. It'll be the seventh time the same rocket has flown to space. SpaceX leaving everyone else on the ground.

For launch? Should still be 11:49am AEDT on Monday, it was pushed back due to bad weather in the recovery zone in case of an abort.

+x+x+xWorth it just to watch the 1st stage booster land on a drone ship. Its the sort of thing you see in science fiction yet not only is it very real but it cuts the cost of space flight exponentially. We're honestly not that far off the next space race. Exciting times. China v US v EU. Would be amazing to see a moon or Mars colony in our lifetimes. At the rate Starship is developing (15km test flight coming up in the next few weeks) I'd put money on there being people on Mars by the end of the decade. No chance. 2035 at the earliest if that. Getting a rocket that will go there is the easy bit.

The rocket that launched the first crew to the space station flew again to launch a Korean satellite while the crew were still up there. 🤯 SpaceX has well and truly stolen the show.

+xSpaceX is launching NASA's Crew-1 mission at 11:59am AEDT Sunday, the first operational manned launch of SpaceX's Dragon 2 after the successful manned test flight earlier this year, and the first time four people have flown in a capsule format spacecraft. Very exciting. Will post the live stream here. Stayed up to watch the demo mission. Can't wait for this one too.

50 year anniversary this week for the Apollo 11 landing. Probably the reason why.

+xTheres so many space docos coming up on abc & sbs Been watching heaps of them. So many things I had no idea about. Last night I learnt about the 'bbq' roll the spaceship had to do twice an hour on the way to the moon to make sure the heat was distributed evenly around the ship. Can't imagine how many thousands and thousands of other tiny little considerations would have had to been thought about to make this thing work like it did.
