If anybody here uses the Samsung Gear VR headset, download "Star Chart". Pretty cool real time star chart which lets you explore the planets of the solar system as well as their moons.

Falcon Heavy's successful launch just then. Biggest since the Apollo missions.

2 side boosters returned in one piece in tandem,  Elon Musk's car orbiting the sun for the next billion years.  https://twitter.com/Liv_Boeree/status/960982569994027009

Replay of launch here.  (About the 19 min mark)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1635&v=99llRhH71vA

Side boosters landing safely at around the 27 min mark.  https://twitter.com/AirportWebcams/status/960982527338000386  Dead set looks like something out of a Michael Bay film.

Got up to watch the live stream this morning. This launch is a HUGE development in regards to space exploration, even just in the context of public interest and industry confidence in what Spacex are doing. I'm actually genuinely excited as to what the future holds.

It sure is.

I think blokes like Musk, Bezos, Bill Gates et al, that have humanity's best interests at heart, are our best chance at actually achieving these big picture dreams.

Been watching heaps of them.  So many things I had no idea about.

Last night I learnt about the 'bbq' roll the spaceship had to do twice an hour on the way to the moon to make sure the heat was distributed evenly around the ship.

Can't imagine how many thousands and thousands of other tiny little considerations would have had to been thought about to make this thing work like it did.

SpaceX is launching NASA's Crew-1 mission at 11:59am AEDT Sunday, the first operational manned launch of SpaceX's Dragon 2 after the successful manned test flight earlier this year, and the first time four people have flown in a capsule format spacecraft. Very exciting. Will post the live stream here.

Worth it just to watch the 1st stage booster land on a drone ship. Its the sort of thing you see in science fiction yet not only is it very real but it cuts the cost of space flight exponentially.  We're honestly not that far off the next space race. Exciting times.

The rocket that launched the first crew to the space station flew again to launch a Korean satellite while the crew were still up there. 🤯

SpaceX has well and truly stolen the show.

At the rate Starship is developing (15km test flight coming up in the next few weeks) I'd put money on there being people on Mars by the end of the decade.

No chance.  2035 at the earliest if that.

Getting a rocket that will go there is the easy bit.
