Impressive, great to see we have fans following the players over here.

Thanks. I have taken a bit of interest in Malaysian football after I managed Perak in FM.

Does anyone know where I can watch MSL games?

Nice to see a professional player taking the time and making the effort to engage with the fans.
What’s your opinion of the standard of play over there compared to Australia?

Haha, if you say so. I know what I saw, and I'd hardly have called him a stand out...

Like I said: I think he's fine for Malaysia, and as a local player he's probably worth having in a squad. But as an import in T1, which is definitely a stronger league than the MSL: he's not worth having in the squad in my opinion. Opinions differ of course, otherwise things would be boring.

You must be one of those expat players that couldn’t make it here in Asia? Like I said you don’t get a contract at a Thai or Malaysian club unless you can play football. Not hard to find plenty of footage of Curran Ferns on the Internet. Let the forum members be the judge.

I could claim to be Taylor or Curran, but you have to guess again, there is not that many of us expats here this season so should not be that hard.

If you are Taylor Regan, pls come back to Adelaide.

Yes the game is about opinions, but one thing I can tell you you don’t get to play as a professional footballer, and earn a well paid contract, here in Malaysia, Thailand, or anywhere unless you play decent, and your suited to the playing style they want,  Only the decent foreign strikers are guaranteed a place, the local players are preferred to us expats, unless we play at the top of your game.

welcome to the forum Curran!

He claims to be playing in Malaysia so it's either him or Taylor Regan who I believe to be the other Aussie playing over in Malaysia.

Not sure how many games you watched in Thailand but Curran Ferns was a standout in the Thai league.. He was recruited from Malaysia as Sukhothai's ASEAN (5th visa) quota player to help them avoid relegation last season. Under the rules last year, only 4 of the 5 visa players could start a game and be on the field the same time, He started about half the games, and came off the bench roughly the other half depending who they played and tactics. As a defensive player, the team would often need to use its attacking foreigners as a priority in games. Sukhothai improved and finished mid table well clear of relegation The club re-signed him for 2019 season with fellow Aussie Ian Ramsey, but he has run into difficulty with Thai FA introducing another rule now requiring all ASEAN foreigners to have gained 3 international caps before they can play.   I am aware because I play in Malaysia, know most of the expat players, and watch the Thai League games. He has returned to Australia to resume playing in a physical league, and prepare for 2019-2020 season,.

Tagz was subbed off at half time with his team down 1-0.

They came back to equalise later in the match with the game finishing 1-1.

Interesting.

I think Malaysia he's good enough for tbf, as he counts as a local player. But if he counts towards an import quota... no way!

Curran struggled in Thailand, his team [Sukhothai] went on a long stretch of poor form not long after he signed. He got his pants pulled down [figure of speech] in the game against Port FC, the Thai league was a giant step up from where he was playing in Malaysia. If he didn't have a Malaysian passport, there's no way he'd have ever have played professionally in Malaysia or Thailand, he's very average imo.

yeah, I think he played NPL in Queensland before he left to play in Asia. Only thing he's got going is that he's a pretty massive bloke so he would've been good for those Asian leagues.

Was it Jesse Curran Ferns who was talked on an article on here a while back, remember him playing in Thailand or Malaysia if I recall.

Anyhow just seem the line line up for Port Melbourne v south Melbourne, Port Melbourne have a player named Curran Ferns, unsure as to whether it is the same person.

I am so Fucking Jealous. Amazing mate. Enjoy it. Is it a match at the 80 000 seater Nissan stadium or one of their smaller home grounds?

Thanks guys - yes I believe it's at Nissan Stadium - probably why I was able to secure a few tickets because of the size.
Last time I was in japan I went to Urawa without a ticket which was a bad idea - luckily me and my mate found some scalpers.

I've been critical of Ange in the past so hopefully he shuts me up :)

Good to hear about Ange, looks like he needed the first year to suss out the team and bring in a few players of his own like he did at the Roar.
