A little bit early etc, but I need distracting right now so...
Anyone got any good plans?
I'm just going to continue to be 5ever alone, and cry about all the overpriced flowers and chocolates that I have not received for the 18th year in a row.

Just went to Fiji with the mrs, so Thursday will be pretty simple.
Not entirely sure what to do yet though.

got lucky this year. the mrs is working late on tues & thursdays so i don't have to miss football training for v-day.
will just head out to dinner on friday at a restaurant we've been meaning to go to for a while now. two birds with one stone kinda deal.
will probs get her some flowers delivered to her work or something too. as much as she says "don't get me anything, v-day is a nothing day anyway that was created by the man/hallmark cards" i know if i roll with nothing on "our first married v-day" she'll tear shreds off me. chicks, huh.

Got a planned trip up to Picton, already booked a reservation at a restaurant there for lunch, meander about town for a bit, walk along the sunset, then driving home at staying at the missus' with chickflick movies, champagne and maltesers. The day will probably involve roses and other cutesy things.
Though frankly I tend to do this stuff on days other than Valentines Day. If you need an excuse to have a bit of romance there's something flawed in your relationship.

Not too sure what i'll do just yet, neither of us wants to do anything too cheesy or coupley just because it's V-Day. We'll probably cook something nice for dinner together, that's usually pretty fun and maybe watch a movie then bang. She would've been dripping if i'd booked tickets for The Notebook at Rooftop Cinema but it was sold out before i knew it was on.

V-Day is easy for me, because it's also the anniversary of our first date (kinda the first date, we hooked up at the BDO a few weeks earlier).
We usually do dinner and some kind of an activity, like a movie or boat ride or something. We haven't done anything since the baby was born, so this year we're dropping our daughter off to my Mum and heading down to Dromana for the weekend.

Once you've been with someone for about five years the romance dies, maybe just a night of peace and quiet
Getting roses, chocolate, champagne and a teddy sent to her work though.

Yeah, just knock one out to some porn and you'll feel better  Seriously, valentines day is a load of crap. If you love a person you don't need an arbitrary day to demonstrate that. And you don't need to meet the excessive seasonal mark-up that comes with it. Call me cynical or whatever, but the only purpose of Valentines day is to keep florists and Hallmark in business.

This is my opinion as well, however when this is your first valentines day with someone and they find the holiday somewhat significant it's hard to not "celebrate" it. Otherwise Thursday night I'll be accompanied by a box of tissues and a porno.

i fully understand where afro is coming from.
a girlfriend is different to a date with a non-girlfriend. the chick wants to know the guy is willing to wine & dine her, which is a bit of a play, but also she wants to come off as cultured & whatnot so will go through the process of the whole three course deal (even though they wouldn't even finish each course). girlfriends are comfortable with what they've got, they see that whole process as pointless & expensive, and save it for special occasions.
when i say this in my head it makes me feel like such a small town boy, but from experience i've noticed city chicks (aka sydney, melbourne, etc) are on a different wavelength to non-city chicks (newy girls, local chicks, etc) - they hold themselves differently in society as they feel they're a celebrity or something. they don't "keep it real" as much. so they kind of expect that type of deal.
giving a new date a proper go, you're not coming home without paying at the very least $100 for the both of you.

Seriously? $80 is a lot for a meal out? Pretty standard for a good feed + drinks I'd have thought.

I'll be off the the girlfriends at half time to pick her up. Hopefully all goes to plan and a tsunami doesn't hit Picton mid-date.

Saint Valentine (in Latin, Valentinus) is a widely recognized third century Roman saint commemorated on February 14 and associated since the High Middle Ages with a tradition of courtly love. Nothing is reliably known of St. Valentine except his name and the fact that he died on February 14 on Via Flaminia in the north of Rome. It is uncertain whether St. Valentine is to be identified as one saint or two saints of the same name. Several differing martyrologies have been added to later hagiographies that are unreliable. For these reasons this liturgical commemoration was not kept in the Catholic calendar of saints for universal liturgical veneration as revised in 1969.But the "Martyr Valentinus who died on the 14th of February on the Via Flaminia close to the Milvian bridge in Rome" still remains in the list of officially recognized saints for local veneration. Saint Valentine's Church in Rome, built in 1960 for the needs of the Olympic Village, continues as a modern, well-visited parish church. Today, Saint Valentine's Day, also known as the Feast of Saint Valentine, is an official feast day in the Anglican Communion,as well as in the Lutheran Church. In the Eastern Orthodox Church, Saint Valentine the Presbyter is celebrated on July 6 and Hieromartyr Saint Valentine (Bishop of Interamna, Terni in Italy) is celebrated on July 30. Notwithstanding, because of the relative obscurity of this western saint in the East, members of the Greek Orthodox Church named Valentinos (male) or Valentina (female) may celebrate their name day on the Western ecclesiastical calendar date of February 14.

I wrote my wife a poem.
It cost nothing, and I'm pretty sure it's earned me a BJ during movie night tonight.

But what if you weren't using food to compensate for your penis? I'm not buying her salami for dinner. It's good to see that these days being nice and taking a girl to a nice restaurant equates to having a tiny penis though. Good on ya.

I probably meant that subliminally, on account that she's dating a noted women beater now.

Quote:Meanest Valentine's breakup ever: Woman dumps bloke via billboard by: By Anthony Sharwood From: news.com.au February 15, 2013 8:26AM ..We don't actually know who Dan is, but it's safe to say he had a pretty miserable Valentine's Day yesterday. See, Dan's girlfriend Laura chose that particular day to break up with him via public billboard. What a piece of work, eh? It gets worse. Not only did Laura pay $150 for a billboard at a local petrol station to announce her breakup, the announcement also said she was leaving Dan for some bloke called Gary. Gary??? Who leaves a bloke with a nice sensible name like Dan for a Gary? It's like moving out of a nice house into a dingy apartment. The full message read: "Dan, I'm leaving you for Gary. Your clothes are at your mum's & I've changed the locks. Sorry to do this on Valentine's Day. Laura." Now, maybe it's just us, but do you think Laura was really sorry as she claimed in the message? If she was actually sorry, surely she'd have done the decent thing and contacted Dan in person. This all happened in England, by the way. Maybe they're just meaner over there. After all, this is the country that gave the world Simon Cowell. Oh, and to all you Garys out there, sorry if we offended you. And to all you Lauras, thpppftttt! Is your name Gary? Then get mad at me here: @antsharwood http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/meanest-valentines-breakup-ever-woman-dumps-bloke-via-billboard/story-e6frf7jo-1226578405318
