I am hoping both Mandurah City and South West Phoenix both get through this round.

It'd be interesting to see if Mandurah do qualify will they have the required facilities or will they have to play at Lark Hill.

For those who don't know Lark Hill is in Rockingham, which have a rivalry of sorts with Mandurah \:d/

Any chance South v Knights will be streamed?

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Not sure about the lighting issues but the pitch seems decent and has hosted A-league pre-season games in the past. Be nice this year to have WA representatives playing at their actual home ground this time should they get the luck of the draw.

Mandurah's facilities are not suitable. Would have to play at Lark Hill if they were to play at all locally.

No local grounds have had lighting upgraded since last season as far as I know. Hopefully there will be a better solution than the athletics stadium for any home games v A-League opposition this season.

The WACA would be OK I reckon if you put the pitch as close as possible to the Lillee Marsh stand based on the numbers who attended the two games last season. Certainly closer and much better viewing than the athletics stadium.

NB for interest - Gwelup Croatia are an amateur team (Premier league) and have Steve McGarry playing for them.

Should have technically been 5, but Balmain were drawn the bye in the opening round.

v Glenmore Park (NL) = 5-0
v North Epping Rangers (NL) = 5-0
v Bankstown City (NPL2) = 3-0

King's Domain, State League 5 club in Victoria knocked out Cairnlea who are 4 divisions higher in SL1.
Caulfield from State League 3 beat St. Albans Saints from NPL1, 3 divisions higher. Similar Virginia Utd from Brisbane knocked out a club 3 divisions higher.

Yep, the luck of the draw plays a huge part, the best of the state leagues don't necessarily qualify for the cup. Everyone wants to make it but it's really tough, especially the states that have limited spots, even victoria is really difficult, only 4 make it, no seedings meaning you can get anyone..whilst sm and mk will be going at it on Friday night Heidelberg will have a comfortable night against 4th tier opposition..and this isn't even the last round! I think nsw has the most comfortable qualifying path for the powerhouse clubs, don't even think it's a straight knockout comp so you can actually lose and still make it.

They scrapped that.
All the draws are random except the NNSW rigging.
The easiest route is North Queensland. Then Sunshine Coast v Gold Coast (because Toowoomba and Gympie arent good).
South Australia is by far the hardest.

NSW & Vic NPL teams play 4 qualifying games each, only NSW gets 1 more spot. Pretty equal.

Bankstown City have former A-League players Dean Heffernan, Michael Beauchamp, and Adam Biddle in their squad too.

Certainly wasn't expecting a win, let alone such a comfortable one at that. Bankstown City haven't been all that impressive this season either mind you.
