Having just come back from the world cup, and Pala and others who were there will back me up here, most of the fans from the other countries went full bottle with regards to their country's stereotypes without one iota of cultural cringe or shame.  From Mexicans wearing sombreros to Japanese fans in Kiminos and Russians in traditional dress and Croats and Poles and Tunisians and Morocans and heaps of other nations all in the national gear.  It was great the way they fully embraced it.. 

It's too bad 'us' Australians can't embrace even a little bit of our ancient culture without bed-wetters going all Andrew Bolt across the forum.

As for getting branded 'alt-right' at the drop of the hat what about getting branded 'lefty SJW' at a moments notice just because you have the temerity to be empathetic to somebody?

I must say the 'Matilda' threads are a hell of a lot better than it used to be a few years ago.  Part of the change in the tone in those threads is the calling out by the forumites of the tools that go on there and try and rag on the girls.  Big ups to those blokes with the balls to take on the knuckle draggers.

It's near incomprehensible to me that we can't appreciate the indigenous cultures of our country without people losing their minds. It's something we should be proud of and maybe incorporating it into our jerseys will help bring more attention to the gap between indigenous communities and the rest of Australia.

'Not a fan' in the sense that i feel right now, in the current climate, we'd be doing it for the wrong reasons ie: commercial (kits selling out). 

If implemented as more than a simple token gesture driven by commercial interests, then I'd be all for it. Being the global game that is welcoming of all cultures (not in Aus though, thanks NCIP), we have the opportunity to do far more for minority communites then little nods here and there. My gripe is that I can see the current administration doing a kit, then thinking the work is done. 

How can you be exhausted? This is the best thread I have read all year. The only thing that would make it better if MurdochRags and COYS were contributing.

Love those African kits. I really like the AMS kits too, as they are so easy on the eye and in that vein too, honouring the local culture.
