APIA 1st loss after 13 rounds :( Stallions alos lost :( as did SU FFS. MSC's fellow SO gained a draw. Sydney FC 4 v APIA Leichhardt 0 @ Valentine Sports Park Sydney FC recorded a spectacular 4-0 battering of APIA Leichhardt and ended their unbeaten start to the season in style on Friday night at Valentine Sports Park. The Premiership hotshots who prior to this match were coming in as firm favourites were simply outclassed by their younger opponents as FC proved to be too hot to handle in a result that stunned many. Alen Harbas gave the hosts the lead within ten minutes before Ben Gibson’s brace rounded out a phenomenal first half for Sydney FC. Clayton Taylor picked up the fourth just after halftime to add further gloss to the home side’s performance. NWS Spirit FC 0 v Rockdale Ilinden 1 @ Christie Park Rockdale Ilinden have returned to the winner’s circle following a run of three successive losses with a hard fought 1-0 victory over the NWS Spirit FC at a damp Christie Park on Saturday to reignite its National Premier League NSW Men’s Premiership hopes. Pau Dee’s troops had to be patient despite being on top for most of the match, their eventual winner coming via Jaden Casella with five minutes remaining. Sutherland Sharks 0 v St George City 2 @ Seymour Shaw Park St George City took home all the derby spoils thanks to a 2-0 victory against the Sutherland Sharks at a rain sodden Seymour Shaw Park on Saturday evening. An early headed goal from Presley Ortiz and a late Kosta Petratos penalty all but sealed a valuable victory for Mirko Jurilj’s men. Marconi Stallions 0 v Mt Druitt Town Rangers 1 @ Marconi Stadium The Mount Druitt Town Rangers have caused a major upset downing the Marconi Stallions 1-0 at Marconi Stadium halting its run to the top of the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s ladder. It was the third win and by far the most important this season for the visitors who were up against a hungry Stallions outfit that failed to take advantage of APIA Leichhardt FC dropping points on Friday night. Marconi would have ascended to the top of the NPL NSW Men’s ladder with a victory, but Mt Druitt managed to maintain their lead after an early goal from former player Anthony Frangie to claim an important three points for their 2023 campaign. Sydney Olympic 2 v Wollongong Wolves 2 @ Belmore Sports Ground Sydney Olympic have now gone four games without a victory following a pulsating 2-2 draw against a rejuvenated Wollongong Wolves outfit in their Round 13 clash played at Belmore Sports Ground on a rainy Saturday evening. A brace each to Roy O’Donovan for the home side and Lachlan Scott for the visitors accounted for the four wonderful goals. It was Wollongong that took the lead very late in the first half through Scott before O’Donovan worked his magic in the second half with his two goals to put the home side in front before the Wolves attacker justifiably equalised for the visitors late in the game. Western Sydney Wanderers 2 v Manly United 1 @ Wanderers Football Park Western Sydney Wanderers picked up a vital three points with a 2-1 win over Manly United at Wanderers Football Park. Western Sydney Wanderers were reduced to 10 men nine minutes in, but that didn’t halt their progress as they opened the scoring off a clinical Zachary Sapsford burst in the 45th minute. Manly United equalised thanks to a Seiya Kambayashi close range effort after a deflected Thomas Fay cross, but it was Sapsford who once again put the Wanderers ahead seven minutes later with a thumping strike into the top left corner. The goal was enough to see the Wanderers through the match, with two red cards – one to each side – late on adding more drama to the match. Central Coast Mariners 2 v Sydney United 58 FC 1 @ Pluim Park The Central Coast Mariners picked up their first win at Pluim Park coming from behind and scoring two goals in two minutes to secure the 2-1 win. Former Mariner Chris Payne converted a penalty in the 35th minute before the Mariners struck back late in the game. Lachlan Bayliss equalised with his own from the penalty spot, before setting up a tap-in for George Daniel just a minute later. Blacktown City 4 v Bulls FC Academy 1 @ Landen Stadium Blacktown City re-ignited their title ambitions earning an efficient 4-1 victory over Bulls FC Academy on Sunday afternoon at Landen Stadium. It was an action-packed first half with Jesper Webber giving the visitors a lead in the 25th minute. However, two goals before the half-hour mark from Jak O’Brien and Ben Berry earned Blacktown the halftime advantage. After weathering an early second-half storm, the home side added twice to their lead with Lachlan Campbell and Mario Shabow both scoring.

Very frustrating that was for Marconi. Feels like a bit of a reoccurring theme over the past few years, every time we get an opportunity to get to the top of the pile, we go and bottle it and lose a game we should be winning. Copped a goal from an ex player (was another bicycle kick, this one less spectacular than the last one a few weeks ago) in the first 5 minutes, then controlled the play for the following 85 minutes without really controlling much. Perfect example of what i said recently, one week we seem to play decent flowing football, the next ..back to zero creativity. Our only tactic is just to “work hard form eachother” “outcompete them” “win every 50-50” ..I can imagine that’s how the team talks go. And then just hope one of our players with a bit of individual flare has a good game. Ah well, Sydney Olympic away next week, we just lost to them in the cup at home last week so that should be interesting. Unfortunately It’ll likely now be outshone by the west Sydney v Sydney fc match in the a league finals being played at a similar time
As for APIA, good example of how the a league clubs are a very different prospect depending on when you play them. Sometimes you have a good chunk of first team squad players playing, sometimes it’s just kids. I dare say it was just a hiccup

as they say a loss when leading is good medicine - a wake up call. If it wasn't for 4 draws thats 8 points lost to date. As for you guys Glenardo, your not far off the top mind you despite your pov, after this round you got the best GA and your amongst it in the GF's and 3points off top. The SO game is a good one to win for the new few are just as hard.

Same fixture last year saw Avondale score 3 in the first 30 mins only for us to put 4 past them in a very very enjoyable match :) Id take that again any day.

early Cup stages, APIA would have fielded a young squad knowing who they played who I know pretty well. Another young squad mixed of ex NPL2/3 players playing Club Prem1.

It seems to be a pretty tight season results wise up there... something like 10 points separate top 6 and throw a blanket over the rest..... Ive been impressed with Rockdale so far but APIA just seems too strong.... On a fantasy note, how good quality of a league would the top 6 of both NSW and VIC be in the same comp this year?

APIA impress me this year because lasy year we shipped more goals than you like despite finishing 5th and just 6points from winners SO. Suns finished 6th but they have always been strong, ups and downs like all, SU is not what they were last season thats for sure. The outlier for me is ol St GeorgeFA 1 of the 4 promoted, sitting 4th and hard to beat with 5 draws, mind you as mentioned APIA have 4 draws, they'd have a nice gap if won. Don't know whats not clicking with champs SO, they have the personel but something is amiss. Yer I'd love seeing our Clubs against each other again, fingers crossed 1000 times soon.

+xDoes anyone follow the a league clubs reserves? Looks like city are struggling but western and victory are doing ok City NPL are shipping goals in for fun mate ...... leakiest defence in the state :) WU is having a purple patch but NPL2 is a very cut throat league.... There are only 8 points in it from 1st to 9th.... EVERY SINGLE match counts for both promotion AND relegation this year and it shows on the pitch.... Kingston, Paco, Dandy City, Eastern Lions, Northcote are ALL pushing to yo-yo back to the top league they were recently in, not to mention Preston pushing for back to back promotions.....

Are a lot of the young Adelaide players playing for the npl team? Yeah they are, even though most of them are teenagers, it’s almost unfair given they are so clearly a class above. Every week Cox, Duzel, Toure, Kasumovic and Bernardo play and then the likes of Alagich, Irankunda, Yull, Jovanovic, Madanha and even Jay Barnett a couple of times play when they aren’t with the first team. The exciting thing is that even when those guys aren’t playing, the likes of Giuseppe Bovalina and Nathan Amanatidis and a few others have been performing consistently well. Given the talent that’s coming through here, SA desperately needs a second A-League side. For example I can think of about 15 U23 attackers from SA who are playing/have played pro football who aren’t playing for the club. Due to their being only one pro club, a lot of these players have to go elsewhere for more professional opportunities or they slip through the cracks.

Mate youve pretty much smashed the nail on the head with a sledghammer... We desperately need a NST as of yesterday... There are players lining up to play professional football right now!!!! If the FA have more than a single brain cell between them they will begin with at least 2 x clubs out of Adelaide in the very first year.

great win to SMH over the weekend....... As for NSWNPL the Italians done good ! and SU might I add. SO coped a sound defeat by the Stallions. APIA re grouped and smashed newcomers Spirit. SFC were brought back down to earth by Rockdale. Let’s check out the mini reviews from Round 14 of the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition. Wollongong Wolves 0 v Blacktown City 0 at WIN Stadium – Full Match Report and Highlights Wollongong Wolves and Blacktown City played out a 0-0 draw in an exciting clash at WIN Stadium on Friday night. The Wolves dominated the chances throughout the match but couldn’t find the decisive touch to win the points, however, Blacktown City also had opportunities to claim victory. A missed second half penalty by Wolves striker Lachlan Scott was to be the hosts best opportunity, but the points were shared as Tristan Prendergast pulled off a heroic save that set the visitors on their way to earn a point. Bulls FC Academy 1 v Sutherland Sharks 2 at Sydney United Sports Centre – Full Match Report and Highlights Sutherland Sharks fired home a late winner to claim an important three points against Bulls FC Academy on Saturday afternoon at the Sydney United Sports Centre. Jesse Photi found the opening goal for the Sharks in the 33rd minute before the Bulls’ Rhys Youlley levelled the scores just before halftime. Super-sub Connor Rose came off the bench to great effect scoring Sutherland’s second goal in the final two minutes of the match to secure the win. APIA Leichhardt 5 v NWS Spirit FC 0 at Lambert Park – Full Match Report and Highlights APIA regained its composure on the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s Premiership race following last week’s shock loss by handing NWS Spirit FC a heavy lesson with a clinical 5-0 victory at Lambert Park on Saturday. Jack Stewart opened the scoring in the 11th minute, striking the ball with his left foot. Despite a vital touch by Spirit keeper Christopher Marques, the shot was too powerful to be stopped. This would be only the beginning for APIA, as Rory Jordan and Sean Symons joined the scoresheet. After being the main attacking presence in the half, the former slotted the ball into the left-hand corner. The latter got the ball into the back of the net after a lovely assist from Jordan, who dribbled past three Spirit defenders. Sean Symons would continue his great performance scoring another two goals to claim a hat trick. His second goal was bulleted past Marques after an error in the Spirit defence in the 60th minute, whilst his third was scored into an open goal in the 63rd minute. Sydney Olympic 2 v Marconi 4 at Belmore Sports Ground – Full Match Report and Highlights The Marconi Stallions registered a highly entertaining 4-2 victory over old rivals Sydney Olympic in Round 14 of the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition at Belmore Sports Ground on a chilly autumn Saturday evening. After a Round 5 Australia Cup NSW Preliminary loss against Olympic last week, Marconi were able to even the score and leave Olympic without a win for five National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s matches. An own goal from Marconi’s Roberto Speranza and one from Olympic defender Peter Politis were trumped by an own goal from Ben Van Meurs and goals from Domenic Costanzo, Kyle Cimenti and Chris Hatfield to give the visitors a valuable victory away from home. St George City 0 v Sydney United 58 1 at Penshurst Park – Full Match Report and Highlights Sydney United 58 FC swooped late into stoppage time through a Patrick Antelmi strike to snatch all three points against a gallant St George City in a phenomenal Round 14 clash at Penshurst Park on Saturday. St George City can justifiably feel aggrieved with the result because in many ways they threw the proverbial kitchen sink at Sydney United 58 but couldn’t penetrate, including a missed penalty that Danijel Nizic saved. However, football is game where chances must be converted, and St George City learnt that the hard way against a Sydney United 58 outfit that was desperate for all three points after a series of recent draws. Mt Druitt Town Rangers 2 v Western Sydney Wanderers 1 at Popondetta Park – Full Match Report and Highlights Mount Druitt Town Rangers picked up three vital points in their 2-1 win over Western Sydney Wanderers at Popondetta Park on Saturday night. It was Mt Druitt Town Rangers’ first home win of the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s campaign, and it was well earned. Nikola Djordjevic and Kotaro Katsuta fired home in the first half to settle the points as they look to continue their move up the ladder. Western Sydney Wanderers put in a huge shift despite being rocked with illness and suspensions throughout the week. Marcus Younis equalised in the 16th minute with a stunning side foot strike that will be on the end of season highlight reels. Manly United v Central Coast Mariners at Cromer Park – POSTPONED The round 14 clash between Manly United v Central Coast Mariners was called off with three minutes till half-time following a serious leg injury to Manly United’s Max Martinello. Rockdale Ilinden 4 v Sydney FC 2 at Ilinden Sports Centre – Full Match Report and Highlights Rockdale Illinden FC have defeated Sydney FC 4-2 to move up to second on the table with an excellent performance at Rockdale Ilinden Sports Centre. The home side put on an outstanding attacking display, finding goals through four different scorers. Nikola Ujdur, Alec Urosevski and Jaden Casella all found the back of the net for Rockdale, while Loic Puyo scored a beautiful freekick in his last game at the club. Clayton Taylor was Sydney FC’s bright spark throughout the 90 and scored two goals, but they were only consolation for the sky blues, who will look to bounce back against Sutherland Sharks next week.
