Imagine if there is no A-league in 2024-5 No big deal. Most of the Aleague franchises have had 20 years to build a membership base and they will all have a senior team competing in the state based NPLs for their fans to follow.. They will just have to start building again to get to the top league. Yeah I bet you guys that do nothing but bag the A League are loving this. Still don't really understand all of the hate, considering most of our NT players come through the league. Do the clubs they get poached FROM not deserve any recognition? Yeah they deserve recognition for developing the players, but it still doesn't explain why you have such a problem with the A League? Say one of your club's players gets signed directly by a big OS club, your not going to have a problem with that are you, because it's in the player's best interest for their career? When a player from NPL and below gets signed directly to an overseas contract that indeed is a major cause of celebration... Even if the player is non contracted here the Australian club would usually get some sort of player training compensation at the least... some even pocket a hefty sum to then use to train further players. I dont have a problem with the Aleague, it doesnt exist for me and thousands of others ... nor does it want to engage with us.. It is "fishing where the fish are" and good luck to it... while it lasts. Fair enough. You support one of the big teams in the EPL don't you? Why did you start feeling engaged with that team/ league? Pretty sure my first one actually was one of the Perth NSL Grand Finals, I would have been 10-11 at the time though so I don't remember much except my brother going on about his mate at Northern Spirit I remember a couple of Brisbane ones and funnily enough I actually went to the Victory v Adelaide one in 2007 (my 3rd and last ever Aleague match) I reckon I have watched most of them over the years.... nothing stands out to me though... +xNope I dont love the A-league is struggling. I still wish we had all the games on foxtel and foxtel paid 60-70 million a year for 8 years for it. Then have one or 2 free to air games on Channel 10. If we leave Paramount (and the rumours are that we might) and we join another streaming service, who will be our FTA partner? If we go back to Fox Sports for example, I would doubt Channel 10 will continue to do the 2 games on 10Bold. And I don't really fancy being on secondary channels on the ABC or SBS. +x

Last year was the first one i didn't watch... And I did it out of protest.

No more FA Cup final on there too, I remember that was a main stay.
Interestingly, both the NRL and AFL full competition (each match in the AFL/NRL competition, including the Finals Series) are on the list, yet... obviously not all games are on FTA.

I see the a league as a "development league" where our best young players get a solid number of senior games under their belts before a potential move OS. +xReports are emerging of how low the broadcast deal is getting to. The league is also in need of promotion, DT blow the lot... We as a Football community are left to clean it up.I cannot see, with reports the broadcast deal to clubs has been suggest to be as low as 3 million and to be spread across, either, 12, 13 or 14 clubs.... I can't see how the existing wage structure can be paid if the broadcast revenue is so small. Is it time to scrap the cap, reduce min wage levels.... Nothing to do with the "football community" mate... The APL cant have it both ways... its their mess, they can clean it up...

Still don't really understand all of the hate, considering most of our NT players come through the league. Not surprised you don't understand when that's the criteria you think is relevant

+xHaving a look at that Saving Football special on Code Sports. True that they sent 70 people on a junket to the world cup, but can't have an awards ceremony for the players for cost cutting? That Danny Townsend bloke. Gotta hope when he's in Saudi Arabia that he looks the wrong way at someone's sister. I'd hate to have Townsend manage my fruit shop...if I had one.

I still wish we had all the games on foxtel and foxtel paid 60-70 million a year for 8 years for it. Then have one or 2 free to air games on Channel 10.

Reports are emerging of how low the broadcast deal is getting to.
The league is also in need of promotion, DT blow the lot...
We as a Football community are left to clean it up.
I cannot see, with reports the broadcast deal to clubs has been suggest to be as low as 3 million and to be spread across, either, 12, 13 or 14 clubs....
I can't see how the existing wage structure can be paid if the broadcast revenue is so small.
Is it time to scrap the cap, reduce min wage levels....
