And now he's PM... how things have changed, hey?

Abbott got a motion passed to spill the leadership. hockey then entered as a third candidate behind Turnbull and Abbott. In the firt round of voting Hockey was eliminated and the fight was on between Turnbull and Abbott!! One farken vote victory....not good for stability.

If he hadn't challenged Turnbull's leadership, Turnbull would still be in charge. He challenged, hence the vote. He just neglected to find the support that was necessary to take charge of the party.

Hockey was loyal in neglecting to challenge Turnbull's leadership and run he has admitted that he has desires to run and would run for the top job but not if it meant challenging and running against Turnbull who he supported

Hockey showed loyalty to Turnbull and that made him really unprepared and probably a tad too close to Turnbull to swing those voting against Turnbull for the sake of a change. abbott has trouble showing loyalty to himself never mind others.

Fredsta, if Hockey was loyal to turnbull there wouldn't have been the leadership challenge. Instead it would have been a vote of no-confidence.
But Hockey will be leader by the time the election rolls around anyway. Abbott will get sunk before then. Something will come up. Like that he supports the kiddy-fiddling priests or something.

Abbott won't last. Turnball is gone. So as Abbott makes an ass of himself in parliament, more and more of his supporters will turn to Hockey as the answer to their problems. Clearly the leadership spill was a tad too early for Hockey and he wasn't really ready mentally and with the necessary numbers. he will be leader in under two years.
I'm surprised the media got it all wrong!!

Christmas came early for Krudd
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Abbott is electoral suicide, surely. Personally, no-one I've ever met likes him.
Almost choked on coffee yesterday when I read that Abbott was elected.

If you could tap into those independant votes, you'd be made. People are largely voting for the independants because they don't want to vote for the two major political parties with their lunacy.

We're in a pretty good political climate to bring in a third party right now. Turmoil in the established parties. Easy to make a good impression on the voters. lol, actually it came out in the last election that the independents are getting more votes... We could just draw names out of a hat and invite ben cousins and jarryd hayne to pose infront of the camera...

Pretty incredible fuckup by the Libs.
I have a number of moderate Liberal friends who have repeatedly said they'll vote Labor if Tony Abbott is opposition leader: here's their chance. All of them have been disconsolate today.
And to be honest, I'm pretty pissed with the Libs for fucking up a) any chance of being anything but an obstructionist, token opposition party and b) the best chance for a leader (in Turnbull) to progress the Liberal party into the 21st century, and take into account the views and priorities of a majority of their voter base. Tony Abbott is a 19th century choice for what is quickly regressing into a 19th century party.
This is not good news for Australian democracy: I want a functional opposition party. We've seen what happens when we don't have one in WorkChoices, Gunn's, etc...

Well I doubt he will still be leading come elction time and if he is he wont win anyway so it doesnt really matter does it? Ruddy is too popular for now and it will take people a while to realize he is no good
