In Tassie and Victoria, we are another fours hours away from Asia than you. It seems a long way and considerable expense for the age group.

When i played for the Australian Football 'Skool' Academy 2 years ago, at the end of the academy season (During Summer) the best players from each age group were picked and sent on tours to Asia and (Singapore, Japan, Malaysia) and so forth.

User pays.
Coaching staff however get a free ride.
Not sure why any parent would want to pay for someone elses airfare so they can take their kid on what is ostensibly a holiday.
You'd get better value taking your kids to sea world, krones.

The Australasian Soccer Academy tour Japan and Asia yearly. This year the Albirex Niigata coach came to visit the academy to scout players and one went to trial for them. Albirex have both J-League and S-League sides. Although not sure if this years tour is on due to the Japanese power plant meltdown. http://www.australasiansocceracademy.com.au/soccer/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=114%3Aalbirex-nigata-visits-academy-coach-in-sydney&catid=1%3Alatest-news&Itemid=66&lang=enGallery photo's here http://www.australasiansocceracademy.com.au/soccer/index.php?option=com_oziogallery&Itemid=54&lang=enASA players that have toured Japan and Asia have been signed by Asian teams or have benefitted greatly from the tours and experience and gone on to play high levels here in Australia as well. If you get the opportunity to go on an asian tour do so as the experience will make you a much better player. Edited by Aussiesrus: 18/5/2011 03:18:16 AM

I was thinking more of a three month academy.
Recently an x socceroos of Asian descent sent his son to Japan and then on to Portugal. Clearly with Edward’s decision to send his sons to England the present development system is not working. I am not judging Edwards or the Asian bloke or the system but I have many choices and after a lot of thought I believe that an Australian would be better training in Japan than anywhere else. When at 8 everyone I knew was concerned with results I chose fun, at ten they where concerned with strength and speed I chose skill, at 14 they are concerned with representation and selection I choose perfection, self discipline and harmony.
So my choices are 3 months in Brazil, England or Japan then I will go for Japan Mostly due to the Japanese sense of discipline and obsession with perfection.
Sometimes being selected at a young age is the worst thing that can happen to a kid and not being selected is a true blessing.Oh and juggling is for clowns 100%

Both in football and other areas Of course. Not every kid selected will go on to make it at pro level - only a fraction of one percent ever do. If a kid hasn't been noticed and selected for local rep teams by the age of 14 then the odds of him ever making it as a pro blows out by a few thousand more points. I'll tell you what shits me to tears, krones. Parents that place significantly more importance on their son's sockah career than edukayshun. I've seen this a million times over - all quite disturbing. Edited by judy free: 16/5/2011 10:08:33 AM

I fortunately am blessed with children who find education and school work very easy. My under 10s also find their school work relatively easy (most are from well educated parents.) What shits me to tears is that football is full of paul lontons men who try to crush the dreams of children. In the past in the future and at present I am seeing good players destroyed by well meaning but misguided adults, unfortunately you can only stand back and watch if it is not your child. Luckily there are enough good people in football that the lontons of football almost always fail.

There was a time when I gracefully gave him the benefit of the doubt (he could have been just another over naive numpty parent) but no more. He's on the "payroll" and proven (many times over) to be an A grade dirty lying bottom feeder. This forum deserves better than to have grubs like "aussie" using it as a vehicle to promote extreme sockah dodginess.

ALBIREX NIGATA VISITS ACADEMY COACH IN SYDNEY Albirex Nigata's Manager Tanaka has visited Tony basha in Sydney. Tanaka said he was very happy with the meeting and was looking forward to working together in the future. Basha told ASA website, " We are building a strong relationship with Albirex Nigata and also Albirex's Soccer College". Basha confirmed the Academy will be touring Japan in 2011.Tanaka has invited the Academy to play games in Japan against their best squads.Albirex Manager Tanaka is very serious about the relationship, The club has offered free accomodation to ASA.Tanaka said he was very impressed with ASA and wants Albirex scouts to have a close look at academy players. In other news Tanaka and Basha had a succesful meeting with Sydney Fc at the football stadium. http://australasiansocceracademy.com.au/soccer/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=114%3Aalbirex-nigata-visits-academy-coach-in-sydney&catid=1%3Alatest-news&Itemid=66&lang=enAnything else you bozo's want to know ? I watched all 9 mins 50 secs of this piss funny video - where was the Jap coach? Anyway, that's besides the point. And what the fark is this? http://www.sleague.com/Web/main.aspx?ID=1f7804f6-27d9-45f0-8320-eeb12dd76068Is this back office dude the coach you were talking about? If so, why did you originally provide a link to a 23 year old player? Your story is a bit all over the shop, mate. As for the kid who scored eight goals in a trial game and "every big club is chasing his signature"..........I just realised these are kids that are playing bog standard district hacker league i.e. about six rungs below elite youth football. Your forgetting the overall topic discussion and it's relevance. Open your eyes and look at the bigger picture.
The OP asked if there were any academies that tour Asia & Japan etc. ASA have done this yearly. Having said that I am still unsure if the tsunami and power plant meltdown will affect if Japan is included in the tour this year or not.
Regardless of Japan tours more than likely will still go ahead to Malaysia, Singapore etc.
So with respect to the OPS question I have provided an answer.
As for your assumptions that this kid plays bog standard hacker district league. I have already informed you (quite a few times) that ASA is open to all players of any level and gender that want to improve their skills and development, Thats what makes ASA so great. Kids of ALL levels can train with higher level players, combine this with excellent quality training and coaching will improve players. This kid that scored 8 goals also has played for ASA against NSWPL and NSW Super Youth League sides and ASA has won ALL 5 matches this year. When players develope and improve correctly together the results will come.
ASA gives players the ability to succeed at higher level if the player is dedicated unlike other academies that ONLY take players that already have the skills. ASA works with all players and gives them from grassroots upwards the skills they need to succeed in the future.
Judy Free, Surely your bright enough to get the bigger picture by now? Your spending a lot of time and effort dissing something which is very positive for football in this country. If your under some delusion what your posting on these forums benefits football then please go support AFL and post on their forums as you would benefit football more by doing so.

This responsibility doesnt come without football knowledge. It is common for ex-players to take up positions within a club after retirement. Thats why players should continue their education prior to and after a football career. In other words what do players do when at around 35 their playing days are gone? They still have around 50 years to earn an income. Tanaka is a talented smart man that wears many hats. Has the knowledge to spot talented players and works with players at Albirex. For the record Albirex have both S-League and J-league teams. Edited by Aussiesrus: 17/5/2011 02:30:29 PM
