I made it to ep 3 of OINB, I couldn't take the terrible storyline and stereotypical women's prison story. Plus the fact that the lead character like in Weeds was a poor little white girl. it's as if Kenji can't write any other character but Nancy.

I haven't seen OINB but in the case of Weeds it's kind of the main point that the whole series revolves around an upper middle class white house wife way out of her depth, it's what makes it unique and quirky, it simply would not work any other way. I don't know if you're complaining that the protagonist in OINB carries too many similar personality traits to Nancy, because as I said I haven't seen it, but to complain about getting bored by a stereotypical prison show, whilst criticizing the presence of an out of place white woman seems pretty fucking ridiculous on the surface of things.

Again, I haven't seen OINB so I can't comment, but what gave Weeds it's soul was taking such a safe staple of middle class life (the typical American soccer mom) and thrusting her into a whole new world (drug dealing) in which she has no right to belong. It takes such a seemingly safe and stale character and tests her by throwing her into these ridiculously out of hand situations. It seems to me that OINB is a continuance of this, but as an exploration of a different element of crime and society, and to expect anything else just seems rather ridiculous imo.

Also it's Jenji not Kenji by the way.

I agree with you on Weeds, for seasons 1-3 after that it just got ridiculous and unbelievable (like revolution was unbelievable). OITNB is again, not set in any real world scenario, the storylines are predictable and unoriginal. If they'd looked at it from a reality show perspective, like America's toughest prisons and gone from their it would have been awesome but instead they just did the whole sex and the city in cell block D.
I mean what are the chances that
your ex lesbian lover/drug trafficker would be in the same prison as you. Or that on your first day you would insult the big Daddy of the gang leading to having to learn a new level of respect or that you would inadvertently find a way to repay your debt.
Six seasons and a movie!

Yahoo TV wrote:
'Community' Lives! Yahoo Has Saved Greendale for a Sixth Season
By Maggie Furlong

We can't promise a Community movie, but thanks to one Human Being-loving company (ahem, that's Yahoo), Community will be getting revived for a sixth season, set to premiere this Fall on Yahoo Screen. Creator Dan Harmon and castmembers Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong have all signed on for Season 6.

"I am very pleased that Community will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo," Harmon said in a statement. "I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, BangBus!"

"‘The reports of our cancellation have been greatly exaggerated.’" McHale said, attributing the quote to Mark Twain, joking that the other version of this quote has been wrong for years. "#SixSeasonsAndaMovie is real. Thank you Sony. Thank you Yahoo. Thank you Dan Harmon. And thank you to the greatest f%$#ing fans in the history of the human race. It’s the internet. We can swear now."

After five seasons of on-the-bubble ratings, NBC announced Community's cancellation back in May – truly the darkest timeline – but the show's hardcore fans never gave up. There's been plenty of speculation about online outlets vying to give the show a new home ever since, and now we can all wave our inappropriately emblazoned flags in victory.

Community has always been at its best when it's gone super-meta, and Abed's (Pudi) words of wall-breaking wisdom to Annie (Brie) in the Season 5 finale, "Basic Sandwich," signaled to fans that Harmon and co. wouldn't give up the fight if NBC pulled the plug: "This show, Annie ... it isn’t just their show. This is our show, and it’s not over." And then he spouted something about asteroids destroying Greendale... so we're happy that didn't happen.

But they have had their fair share of hurdles along the way: There was the behind-the-scenes drama between Harmon and original castmember Chevy Chase that resulted in Chase's exit in Season 4; there was Harmon's ousting and replacement during Season 4 after repeated issues on set and fights with the network and studio; and there was Donald Glover's exit as Troy after only a handful of episodes in Season 5.

There's no love lost between Harmon and Chase, but we weren't alone in missing Troy Barnes. A lot. At Community's PaleyFest panel back in March, Harmon said he'd try his best to get Glover back on the show, if and when a Season 6 happened.

“I'm just going to go home, kill a chicken, drink its blood, make a Blair Witch thing out of its bones, pray to every deity that I have to that if we do get a sixth season that Donald will have tired of his Donald-ness,” Harmond said at the time.

But a sixth season was seeming less and less likely as time went on. A few weeks back, Harmon seemed cautiously optimistic about the show's future while speaking at the Banff World Media Festival. Harmon praised the show's studio, Sony, for "brokering deals and making the impossible possible," but added a caveat: "I feel, just as a regular fellow looking at the whole thing, it seems so impossible to pull off. So many deals would have to be made that aren't currently made. So many contracts would have to be negotiated."

Now the impossible has become a reality. Back in April, Yahoo announced its plans to create original series, starting with the comedies Other Space, from executive producer Paul Feig, and Sin City Saints, both of which will premiere eight episodes for their first season to binge-watch on Yahoo Screen or the mobile apps.

Community Season 6 will be available in a slightly different format, with the 13 episodes being released weekly this Fall. Consider it a new Greendale course requirement: Advanced TV Revitalization & Anti-Binge-Watching.

Now stop reading, throw on some Dave Matthews Band, and do a little victory dance!

This!

I've never been so obsessed with a TV show as I am with community, I've been living in a Claymation fantasy world over its cancellation.

The gas leak at NBC leading to such silliness may well be the best thing to happen to Community since they brought back Dan Harmon.

Donald would be a coup as well!

They stood by it for a long time, the fact that such a left-of-centre comedy got airtime at all on one of the major commercial networks in primetime is a coup in itself, even if it was to fill the slot in competition to Big Bang Theory.

A streaming network is right for the show's demographic, and if Spacey can do it, there's no shame in it.

There was only so long they could stand by it and watch ratings continue to fall.

mmmm. I was making a comment based on community Jokes. Now you've ruined it!

Of course a smart and self deprecating comedy was never going to last on a prime time network. Community should have always been on a cable network, where its numbers would have been scene as good and it would definitely never had the show runner removed causing a shitty season and no one would have questioned the darkest time line.

Look at Arrested Development, this is a show that won multiple awards for originality, writing, best comedy, best actor in a comedy series and so many more that I don't remember and no one watched it, they even made jokes about how no one watched the show.

I was surprised when 30 Rock made it to 7 seasons. no one thought it'd make it to 5. but then there are always exceptions to every rule.

Yeah I have been.

I used to be obsessed with it when I was younger but I stopped following it after the first few years, I've got back into this new season though and am absolutely loving it. Catelyn Stark as a terrorist matriarch was a great bit of casting.

Wrt Community - what actually happened between Harmon & Chase? All I've heard of it was Joel McHale just said Chase didn't like the long hours they did for the show. What is the actual story?

I really do hope they get Glover back. And I hope they're at least trying to get Chase back. Two of the best characters IMO.

When he walked off set for the last time, but there was more stuff:

Harmon wrote:
He refused to do the "tag" for the Digital Estate Planning episode (the 8 bit video game episode). In the scripted tag, Abed comes to Pierce with the thumb drive he took, and says "Pierce, I've been able to adjust some of the code for your Dad's video game and I've made a version I think you might like better." He puts the thumb drive into a laptop in front of Pierce. We cut to the laptop screen, where we see Pierce's avatar on a front lawn with the giant floating head of Cornelius. Every time Pierce presses the space bar, his avatar throws a baseball to his father's head, which gives him a thousand points and a "great job, son!" Pierce presses the space bar a few times, pauses, then leans over and embraces Abed and we fade to black. When Adam Countee pitched that tag, tears instantly rolled down my cheeks, and in point of fact, my eyes are getting watery describing it to you. It was the most important part of the episode and possibly one of the most important moments of the season. I was very upset to hear that it wasn't shot because someone didn't feel like shooting it, especially since it was literally the last day of shooting, which meant we'd never be able to pick it up. I regret nothing about how upset I got. My job was to care about my show.

it goes a bit deeper than that too. Chase didn't like the direction his character went and felt he should have had more screen time as well, there are a few articles out there connected to the whole Answering machine message left. basically, Chase became a major Diva and Harmon isn't a people person so they began a passive aggressive war against each other.

I actually bothered to do more research into it.

It's hard to say exactly what happened as it's very he-said-she-said but from the view I've gotten of the sitatuion, it doesn't sound like Harmon was an angel himself. Public "fxxx-you" speeches, many days of script-less shooting, etc.

A shame - Harmon is obviously brilliant, and Chase was one of, if not, my favourite characters.

I have watched it, and loved it. But if there's one character in the entire show that you could "kill" but not raise too many eyebrows by bringing back to life, it's Pierce. Between his faked heart attacks, his extreme wealth and his wacky religion, he's the most understandable character I could see rise from the dead

We actually realised that we were bickering and fighting with each other a heap, but it was only within a day of watching that show. Give us a few days break from watching it and we were our usual selves, but make us watch that show and we turned full retard on each other  I have no idea why exactly it did it to us, but we're now on a self-imposed ban from watching it ever again

I found it hilarious! I promised myself that I was above it and would force myself to hate it, but I couldn't. It's just absolutely brilliant

 we were exactly the same!

Marry me Charlotte
