Lol - from the shovel

BREAKING: The investigation into the Australia Post CEO has been dropped after it was revealed she actually spent $100 million on watches (not $3k) and gave them to executives living in marginal Liberal electorates. Scott Morrison has apologised for the misunderstanding

She is in trouble if perjury is applicable in ICAC proceedings. She said a number of things denying any knowledge, before the counsel assisting played tapes where it is obvious she did know. In New South Wales, perjury is governed by Section 327 of the Crimes Act and carries a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment.

She's broken numerous ministerial standards alone, that in itself is worth sacking.

Another smoking gun just came apparent -> https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-10-14/gladys-berejiklian-daryl-maguire-meeting-roads-project/12764732?utm_medium=social&utm_content=sf238832505&utm_campaign=fb_abc_news&utm_source=m.facebook.com&sf238832505=1&fbclid=IwAR0bOSXdiPCIDUsUucWpOnDBNf-0NS5toq7j-KhLrWo7DZWRR-H42Sa7avg

Everyone is entitled to a private life.  In this case however the private life is a corrupt politician using his office to line his pockets. She knew about this so the relationship is immaterial really.  In a legal sense she is an accessory.  She can't be Premier.
[/quote]

Agree. My initial impression was that it was just a "she had a long term relationship with him" but there is more to the story.

If that’s the case then a whole new dynamic and then it’s not just the relationship aspect.

It's not about who she may or may not be sleeping with.

It's about what she knew ( recordings played to prove that ) over years & years in the course of that relationship & did or said nothing about it.  Her boyfriend is a slimy, corrupt property developer go between who was lining his pockets. It's complicity

Nah.   Her personal life is hers.  Only thing that would swing me is if she either knew or was doing favours for her boyfriend.

I mean what exactly is her crime?  Shagging someone dodgy?  Been there, done that.

This. Agree with Albo’s position.

Yeah Dan is the victim with 800 people dead under his watch.

268 billion over 10 years they're giving up in revenue because of these tax cuts.

The debt ceiling has been raised to over a trillion dollars and they're giving away even more money!?

Imagine if this was the ALPs doing

Yep as someone that will benefit more than most in terms of paying less income tax, I'll barely notice it and it will not increase my spending one bit

I'm the same - we have eroded the tax base needlessly but wait for the call for an increase in the regressive GST which hits the poorest amongst us hardest.

Not to mention that keeping Seeker/Keeper at their higher rates will do far more for the economy than any tax cut ever would.

Pretty much. I hope this will be the end of this deficit/surplus rubbish - but I doubt it. It makes sense to not have constant deficits but it also makes sense to spend when needed.

ALP advised him earlier in the year that if you were to have tax cuts bring them forward to July 1 this year when they would give people extra money to spend and keep business going. They will now come in 1/7/2021 after the damage is done. Soon after they will call an early election for August 2021 with the tax sweetener uppermost in people's mind. They had the choice to do it when it was needed for the country but they chose the party over the country.
